Graviton emission from a higher-dimensional black hole
We discuss the graviton absorption probability (greybody factor) and the
cross-section of a higher-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole (BH). We are
motivated by the suggestion that a great many BHs may be produced at the LHC
and bearing this fact in mind, for simplicity, we shall investigate the
intermediate energy regime for a static Schwarzschild BH. That is, for
, where is the mass of the black hole and
is the energy of the emitted gravitons in -dimensions. To find
easily tractable solutions we work in the limit , where is the
angular momentum quantum number of the graviton.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, references added, typos corrected. Graviton

Particle motion and gravitational lensing in the metric of a dilaton black hole in a de Sitter universe
We consider the metric exterior to a charged dilaton black hole in a de
Sitter universe. We study the motion of a test particle in this metric.
Conserved quantities are identified and the Hamilton-Jacobi method is employed
for the solutions of the equations of motion. At large distances from the black
hole the Hubble expansion of the universe modifies the effective potential such
that bound orbits could exist up to an upper limit of the angular momentum per
mass for the orbiting test particle. We then study the phenomenon of strong
field gravitational lensing by these black holes by extending the standard
formalism of strong lensing to the non-asymptotically flat dilaton-de Sitter
metric. Expressions for the various lensing quantities are obtained in terms of
the metric coefficients.Comment: 8 pages, RevTex, 1 eps figures; discussion improved; typos corrected;

Development of a Momentum Determined Electron Beam in the 1 -45 GeV Range
A beam line for electrons with energies in the range of 1 to 45 GeV, low
contamination of hadrons and muons and high intensity up to 10^6 per
accelerator spill at 27 GeV was setup at U70 accelerator in Protvino, Russia. A
beam tagging system based on drift chambers with 160 micron resolution was able
to measure relative electron beam momentum precisely. The resolution sigma_p p
was 0.13% at 45 GeV where multiple scattering is negligible. This test beam
setup provided the possibility to study properties of lead tungstate crystals
(PbWO_4) for the BTeV experiment at Fermilab.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures; work done by the BTeV Electromagnetic

Lifshitz transition in titanium carbide driven by a graphene overlayer
Two-dimensional (2D) Dirac materials are electronically and structurally very sensitive to proximity effects. We demonstrate, however, the opposite effect: that the deposition of a monolayer 2D material could exercise a substantial influence on the substrate electronic structure. Here we investigate TiC(111) and show that a graphene overlayer produces a proximity effect, changing the Fermi surface topology of the TiC from six electron pockets to one hole pocket on the depth of several atomic layers inside the substrate. In addition, the graphene electronic structure undergoes an extreme modification as well. While the Dirac cone remains gapless, it experiences an energy shift of 1.0 eV beyond what was recently achieved for the Lifshitz transition of overdoped graphene. Due to this shift, the antibonding π∗ band at the M¯ point becomes occupied and observable by photoemission
Theoretical and experimental research of hot rolling of aluminum strips for solar collector
The article investigates the process of rolling aluminum strips with aluminum wire
inside for the solar collector components. The closure of coal mines, the constant rise in the cost of
oil and gas compel to refer to the methods for producing renewable (alternative) energy. An urgent
problem is the enhancement of solar manufacturing technologies in order to improve the quality and
reduce the cost of products. The article presents the results of experimental and theoretical studies
of the hot rolling process of aluminum strips with aluminum wire between them for internal collector
channels. The velocity fields were researched; dependence on the rolling load changes for different
degrees of deformation was obtained. It was found that for obtaining high-quality welding strips with wire between them the degree
of deformation should be more than 35%. The comparison of the dependencies obtained experimentally
and with the theoretical calculations was carried out, which showed a high degree of similarity.
The comparison of the dependences obtained experimentally with the theoretical calculations was
carried out, which showed a high degree of reproducibility, repeatability and similarity. Scientific
novelty of the research lies in the parameters justification of hot rolling process of two aluminum
strips with aluminum wire between them for partial welding of aluminum strips. These results can
be used in industrial processes for the parts production of solar collectors in alternative energy. This

Information erasure and the generalized second law of black hole thermodynamics
We consider the generalized second law of black hole thermodynamics in the light of quantum information theory, in particular information erasure and Landauer’s principle (namely, that erasure of information produces at least the equivalent amount of entropy). A small quantum system outside a black hole in the Hartle-Hawking state is studied, and the quantum system comes into thermal equilibrium with the radiation surrounding the black hole. For this scenario, we present a simple proof of the generalized second law based on quantum relative entropy. We then analyze the corresponding information erasure process, and confirm our proof of the generalized second law by applying Landauer’s principle
Charge and mass effects on the evaporation of higher-dimensional rotating black holes
To study the dynamics of discharge of a brane black hole in TeV gravity
scenarios, we obtain the approximate electromagnetic field due to the charged
black hole, by solving Maxwell's equations perturbatively on the brane. In
addition, arguments are given for brane metric corrections due to backreaction.
We couple brane scalar and brane fermion fields with non-zero mass and charge
to the background, and study the Hawking radiation process using well known low
energy approximations as well as a WKB approximation in the high energy limit.
We argue that contrary to common claims, the initial evaporation is not
dominated by fast Schwinger discharge.Comment: Published version. Minor typos corrected. 29 pages, 5 figure

The front-end electronics for the COMPASS MWPCs
In the COMPASS experiment 34 planes of MWPCs for about 26,000 readout channels of MWPCs are used. The very high rate of the muon and hadron beams, and the consequently high trigger rate, requires the use of a front-end electronics with new conceptual design, to have a fast DAQ with a minimum dead-time. Its scheme will be described, together with some results of the performances achieved
Superconformal operators in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory
We construct, in the framework of the N=4 SYM theory, a supermultiplet of
twist-two conformal operators and study their renormalization properties. The
components of the supermultiplet have the same anomalous dimension and enter as
building blocks into multi-particle quasipartonic operators. The latter are
determined by the condition that their twist equals the number of elementary
constituent fields from which they are built. A unique feature of the N=4 SYM
is that all quasipartonic operators with different SU(4) quantum numbers fall
into a single supermultiplet. Among them there is a subsector of the operators
of maximal helicity, which has been known to be integrable in the multi-color
limit in QCD, independent of the presence of supersymmetry. In the N=4 SYM
theory, this symmetry is extended to the whole supermultiplet of quasipartonic
operators and the one-loop dilatation operator coincides with a Hamiltonian of
integrable SL(2|4) Heisenberg spin chain.Comment: 45 pages, Latex, 4 figure
