    Students’ Perception in Teaching Writing through Facebook Group in EFL Class

    This paper is a case study on teaching writing through the Facebook group in EFL class which is intended to examinethe students' perceptions on the use of the Facebook group in teaching and learning EFL writing. Descriptive qualitative by conducting closed-ended questionnaire to 17 students at the twelfth grade of SMAN 2Ciamis which were selected purposively as the respondents. The findings asserted that the students' perceptions toward the use of Facebook group in teaching and learning EFL writing showed the positive influence that the application of Facebook group gave positive effects to the students, it motivated and made the students enjoy in learning writing

    Students’ experiences of project-based learning in English for Science and Technology class during Covid 19

    The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is the disruption of the learning process from face-to-face to online learning. In online learning, students are encouraged to use online media and use learning methods that are in accordance with online learning. There are several methods that can be used in online learning. One of which is project-based learning. It is a learning method that produces one project resulting from student work. The aim of this study is to analyze an English student’s experience at Ciamis University in applying the project-based learning method in an English for Science and Technology class during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses the narrative method because it is analyzed by using sentences. This study collects data using interviews so that the data gets in-depth data. It was concluded, from the interview result, that students applies the project-based learning method during online learning resulting in students’ more independent and creative in carrying out learning. In addition, the results of student projects could be used for discussion in subsequent learning. Yet, in online learning, there are many obstacles faced by students including an internet connection that is less stable, the lack of interaction between students and teachers , an error on the cellphone and being slow

    The Teacher’s Perception of Using Canva Application In Teaching Creative Writing

    This research reported on the teacher’s perception of using the Canva Application in teaching creative writing in an Islamic Senior High School in Ciamis. The aim of this research was to investigate the teacher’s way to use the Canva Application to teach creative writing and to identify the teacher’s perception of using the Canva Application to teach creative writing. A case study design was engaged in this research. By means of a purposive sampling technique, an English teacher was selected as the research participant in an Islamic Senior High School in Ciamis. The research instruments constructed consisted of observation and interviews. There were two data analysis techniques obtained, including conversational analysis and triangulation analysis to analyze the data. The findings showed that the teacher employed seven steps to use Canva Application in teaching creative writing. It also indicated that the teacher responded positively on the use of the Canva Application in teaching creative writing since it was useful for both the teachers and the students

    Enriching Students’ Vocabulary through Quizlet in Reading Class

    This study explored teaching media “Quizlet” to enrich students’ vocabulary in reading class. This study aimed to analyze the students’ perceptions on the use of Quizlet as teaching media in reading class. This qualitative case study research was conducted in one of an Islamic Senior High School in Ciamis. This study involved a tenth- grade consisted of seventeen students which were chosen purposively as the sample of the study. The data were collected by using questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that students have positive perceptions about using Quizlet as a learning media to enrich their vocabulary. Students agreed that the Quizlet application motivated them to learn English vocabulary and improved their learning performance. It can be concluded that the Quizlet application is considered as a useful and fun learning media to enrich students' vocabulary. Furthermore, the researcher recommends that further researchers investigate the use of Quizlet at various levels of education to get more in- depth and specific results regarding the use of Quizlet media in learning vocabulary

    OPTIMIZING STUDENTS’ SELF REGULATED LEARNING THROUGH ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION APPLICATION IN LEARNING PRONUNCIATION DURING PANDEMIC ERA

    The use of mobile technology, especially MALL (Mobile Assisted Language Learning) grows popularly in pandemic era. Most of teacher use it to help students while they are learning at home. This study is aimed at interpreting students' perceptions towards the use of English Pronunciation application on students’ self-regulated learning and investigating the use of English Pronunciation application in optimizing their self-regulated learning in learning pronunciation. Researchers applied a qualitative case study as the research design of this study. The data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. This research involved 25 students of the freshman of English Education Program in a private university in Ciamis. The result shows that the students respond positively on the use of English Pronunciation application in learning pronunciation since it helped them in overcoming their problems in learning pronunciation, especially in pandemic era where they situated to learn at home. The results also indicate that the use of English Pronunciation application in learning pronunciation is effective to optimize students’ self-regulated learning.

    Kizphonic as digital multimedia online to enhance vocabulary of young learners

    This study investigates the implementation of Kizphonic to enhance the vocabulary of young learners learning English as a foreign language in one of Elementary School in Ciamis, West Java. The participants in this research are all of students of the the fourth grade in one state Elementary School in Ciamis. The problem of this study is the students of the fourth grade Elementary School still in a poor of vocabulary. The aims of this study are to find out how the effect of use Kizphonic online program to enhance vocabulary of young learners and to find out students’ perceptions toward the use of Kizphonic online program during the learning process. The present study employs mixed - method study. Two instruments used in this study are observation and questionnaire. The result of the first instrument, Kizphonic as digital multimedia has a big chance on the implementation to support teachers and students in learning process, especially to enhance their vocabulary. The second instrument revealed that the majority of the students viewed that the use of Kizphonic was effective, motivating and interesting digital multimedia. It made students remember vocabulary more easily. It can be concluded that Kizphonic is able to enhance students’ motivation and enhance students’ English vocabulary

    EFL Teacher Trainees’ Experiences of Engaging in Online Classroom Interaction During Covid-19 Pandemic

    This study aims to analyze the experiences of EFL Teacher trainees’ engaging in online classroom interaction during the Covid-19 pandemic and to find out how EFL teacher trainees perceived the benefits of engaging in online classroom interaction during Covid-19 through reflecting on their experiences. This qualitative case study used the data taken from online classroom observation and semi-structured interviews administered to ten EFL teacher trainees in semester two of English education department in one private university in Ciamis. The data analysis of this study was coding and summarizing. This study produced three main points, namely: Challenges and Opportunities for EFL teacher trainees’ experience in engaging online classroom interaction during the pandemic, the most effective strategies to help EFL teacher trainees engaging online classroom interaction, and how EFL teacher trainees perceive benefits in engaging in online classroom interaction during covid-19 through reflecting on their experiences. Based on the findings, engaging in online classroom interaction in a situation like the Covid-19 pandemic where all classes shifted to online mode is crucial. Being active and initiative to interact with instructors, peers, and content helps the learners engage, enjoy, improve and master English in a fun, effective, and efficient way. This experience has reflected the learners to be more independent, disciplined, and aware of how impactful encouragement, feedback, care, and respect are. Thus, it is recommended for English lecturers to create a classroom situation that makes the learners feel comfortable to initiate an interaction using English and improve the technique in teaching-learning activities

    THE USE OF FLIPPED CLASSROOM MODEL IN READING COMPREHENSION

    This study presents the use of the flipped classroom model in reading comprehension. This study is aimed to investigate the teacher’s way of implementing flipped classroom in teaching reading narrative text and reveal students’ perception toward the teaching model. A qualitative case study was applied as the research design of this study. The subject of this study was chosen purposively, consisting of twenty-three students from the tenth grade (X AK-1) and one English teacher in one of the vocational high schools in Cilacap, Indonesia. The writers applied the triangulation technique as where the data were analyzed through multiple resources to get more reliable data. The result of the study was showed that the teacher implemented four main stages in teaching reading narrative text using the flipped classroom model. Meanwhile, regarding the students’ perception, students perceived all the stages and activities in the flipped classroom model positively. The students viewed that flipped classroom as a fun learning model, which helped them became a more active learners, and help them overcome their shortcomings. Finally, other researchers are suggested to explore deeply into the implementation of the model that targets other topics and skills, apply other framework suggested by other experts, and explore the students’ perception using an open questionnaire to reveal the reason underlying the perception.Keywords: Flipped Classroom, Teaching Reading, Narrative Tex
