Migration in the mirror of mass-media: moder tools and trends of opinion on migration processes in Russia formation

The article substantiates the necessity of the government, media and NGOs migration concerning communication policy improving. The author argues that public attitudes to migration processes and migrants in Russia in recent years shifted from negative to neutral. However at the moment it is unstable due to the escalation of terrorist violence and the deteriorating migration situation in Europe. Оn the basis of the results of the content analysis of different media, the author comes to the conclusion that in order to harmonize the inter-ethnic relations in Russia a comprehensive information and communication strategy is required. Currently it’s not formed yet.Публикация подготовлена в рамках поддержанного РГНФ научного проекта №16-33-00010

Recovery of the electric strength in a cold cathode thyratron

The paper deals with the investigations of the recovery process of electric strength in a cold cathode thyratron. Method which allows extracting the plasma of the preceding discharge not only from the cathode cavity but also from the main gap of the thyratron is proposed. Method is based on the usage of a low-current nonsteady state discharge in the pause between the pulses

Manganese catalysts to obtain olefins from C1-C4 alkanes

Oxidative transformations of C1-C4 alkanes into olefins on oxide manganese catalysts were under study. We also studied oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) into ethylene on deposited and applied on the silicon dioxide catalysts. We studied the influence of chemical composition of catalyst and promotors on the OCM. Adding a little amount of ethane and propane hydrocarbons to methane allows increasing the concentration of ethylene in gases and significantly increasing productivity in ethylene. The study also shows the impact of the amount of manganese and promotors applied on SiO2 on the yield of olefins during the conversion of C3-C4 alkanes

Instability of a salt jet emitted from a point source in an external electric field

The objective in the present work is to consider a simple example of instability of a conducting self-similar micro jet in the external electric field, which represents a prototype of some microfluidic instabilities. Salt from a point source is emitted into its own aquatic solution, which is subject to an external uniform velocity field together with an electrostatic field, and is convected downstream and diffused. The flow is considered in microscales so that, in contrast to the classical jets, the Reynolds numbers are practically zero, but the Péclet numbers are large. The parameters are found at which such a microjet is unstable. Along with the linear stability analysis, we have fulfilled the numerical simulations of the full nonlinear system of equations. The numerical simulation qualitatively confirmed the results of the linear stability and showed that this instability visually reminds classical instabilities of free jets and wakes

Genetic Architecture of Plasma Adiponectin Overlaps With the Genetics of Metabolic Syndrome–Related Traits

OBJECTIVE - Adiponectin, a hormone secreted by adipose tissue, is of particular interest in metabolic syndrome, because it is inversely correlated with obesity and insulin sensitivity. However, it is not known to what extent the genetics of plasma adiponectin and the genetics of obesity and insulin sensitivity are interrelated. We aimed to evaluate the heritability of plasma adiponectin and its genetic correlation with the metabolic syndrome and metabolic syndrome-related traits and the association between these traits and 10 ADIPOQ single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS - We made use of a family-based population, the Erasmus Rucphen Family study (1,258 women and 967 men). Heritability analysis was performed using a polygenic model. Genetic correlations were estimated using bivariate heritability analyses. Genetic association analysis was performed using a mixed model. RESULTS - Plasma adiponectin showed a heritability of 55.1%. Genetic correlations between plasma adiponectin HDL cholesterol and plasma insulin ranged from 15 to 24% but were not significant for fasting glucose, triglycerides, blood pressure, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and C-reactive protein. A significant association with plasma adiponectin was found for ADIPOQ variants rs17300539 and rs182052. A nominally significant association was found with plasma insulin and HOMA-IR and ADIPOQ variant rs17300539 after adjustment for plasma adiponectin. CONCLUSIONS - The significant genetic correlation between plasma adiponectin and HDL cholesterol and plasma insulin should be taken into account in the interpretation of genome-wide association studies. Association of ADIPOQ SNPs with plasma adiponectin was replicated, and we showed association between one ADIPOQ SNP and plasma insulin and HOMA-IR
