Conceptual Framework for the Use of Building Information Modeling in Engineering Education
The objective of this paper is to present a critical literature review of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodologyandtoanalyzewhetherBIMcanbeconsideredaVirtualLearningEnvironment.Aconceptualframeworkis proposed for using BIM in a university context. A search of documents was carried out in the Core Collection of Web of Science; it was restricted to the last five years (2013–2017). A total of 95 documents were analyzed; all documents were written in English and peer reviewed. BIM meets all the characteristics of Virtual Learning Environments. The proposed framework has three dimensions (competencies, pedagogical approach and level of integration). It allows for the planning and analysis of future experiences of teaching BIM in a university context.Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain and AEI/FEDER, UE Projects EDU2016-77007-RRegional Government of Extremadura (Spain) IB 16068Regional Government of Extremadura (Spain) GR1800
The translation of Mexicanisms into French: Traductological Analysis of the Culinary Culturems in Laura Esquivel’s Como agua para chocolate
The transfer of the culturems from a source language to a target langue is one of the most
difficult aspects during the translation process, especially in the literary translation. This paper addresses
a comparative analysis from a traductological perspective of Laura Esquivel’s literacy work Como
agua para chocolate and its translation into French, focusing on the translation of the numerous Mexican
culinary culturems and the gastronomic phraseology used in the author. This paper concludes that
the translation of culinary culturems in literature requires a coherent translation in a process in which
also come into play the characteristics of the assignment and the publishing house
An approach to the nineteenth century interest about wine growing: considerations about the translation into French of Simón Clemente y Rubio’s Ensayo sobre las variedades de la vid común que vegetan en Andalucía in France
During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries,
the Spanish science has been characterized as a
dependent science of the researches and scientific
discoveries in Europe, especially those
proceeding from France, one of the most prominent
countries in the continent at the cultural
and scientific level. In this context, the needs to
have access to these discoveries and researches
provoked an augmentation of the translation in
Spain. Nevertheless, some treatises originally
written in Spanish acquired relevance and prestige
in Europe, among which it is found Simón
de Rojas Clemente y Rubio’s Ensayo sobre las
variedades de la vic común que vegetan en Andalucía.
This paper focuses the reception and
the translation of this book in France, having
into account the interest of enology as an emergent
science during the nineteenth century.
Cependant,
certains traités rédigés originalement en espagnol
ont acquis une grande relevance et prestige
en Europe, parmi lesquels on trouve l’ouvrage
Jitter and Shimmer measurements for speaker diarization
Jitter and shimmer voice quality features have been successfully
used to characterize speaker voice traits and detect voice pathologies.
Jitter and shimmer measure variations in the fundamental frequency
and amplitude of speaker's voice, respectively. Due to their nature, they can be used to assess differences between speakers. In this paper, we investigate the usefulness of these voice quality features in the task of speaker diarization. The combination of voice quality features with the conventional spectral features, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), is addressed in the framework of Augmented Multiparty Interaction (AMI) corpus, a multi-party and spontaneous speech set of recordings. Both sets of features are independently modeled using mixture of Gaussians and fused together at the score likelihood level. The experiments carried out on the AMI corpus show that incorporating jitter and shimmer measurements to the baseline spectral features decreases the diarization error rate in most of the recordings.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
Problem Understanding through Landscape Theory
In order to understand the structure of a problem we need to measure some features of the problem. Some examples of measures suggested in the past are autocorrelation and fitness-distance correlation. Landscape theory, developed in the last years in the field of combinatorial optimization, provides mathematical expressions to efficiently compute statistics on optimization problems. In this paper we discuss how can we use optimización combinatoria in the context of problem understanding and present two software tools that can be used to efficiently compute the mentioned measures.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (TIN2011-28194
Addressing the 5G cell switch-off problem with a multi-objective cellular genetic algorithm

Permission from IEEE must be obtained for all other uses, in any current or future media, including reprinting/republishing this material for advertising or promotional purposes, creating new collective works, for resale or redistribution to servers or lists, or reuse of any copyrighted component of this work in other works. The power consumption foreseen for 5G networks is expected to be substantially greater than that of 4G systems, mainly because of the ultra-dense deployments required to meet the upcoming traffic demands. This paper deals with a multi- objective formulation of the Cell Switch-Off (CSO) problem, a well-known and effective approach to save energy in such dense scenarios, which is addressed with an accurate, yet rather unknown multi-objective metaheuristic called MOCell (multi- objective cellular genetic algorithm). It has been evaluated over a different set of networks of increasing densification levels. The results have shown that MOCell is able to reach major energy savings when compared to a widely used multi-objective algorithm.TIN2016-75097-P

Distributed lightning monitoring: an affordable proposal
In theaters and the filmmaking industry, video streams, images, audio streams and
scalar data are commonly used. In these fields, one of the most important magnitudes to be
collected and controlled is the light intensity in different scene spots. So, it is extremely
important to be able to deploy a network of light sensors which are usually integrated in a more
general Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN). If many light measurements have to
be acquired, the simpler and cheaper the sensor, the more affordable theWMSN will be. In this
paper we propose the use of a set of very cheap light sensors (photodiodes) and to spectrally
and directionally correct their measurements using mathematical methods. A real testing of the
proposed solution has been accomplished, obtaining quite accurate light measurements.
Testing results are also presented throughout the paper.Telefonica Chair "Intelligence in Networks" of the University of Seville (Spain
Does malaga city have green and blue infraestructures? analysis of their ecological connectivity, population accesibility and potential ecosystem services
Ecosystem services (ES) are defined as “benefits people obtain from ecosystems”, and classified as provisioning, regulation and maintenance, and cultural services. Nowadays, there is continuous search for incrementing wellbeing, besides a higher concern for environment. Accordingly, ES contribute positively to decrease these concerns. Green and blue infrastructures (GBI) play an important role in the regulation of natural cycles in urban and periurban areas, providing a number of ES, not always considered in planning and decision making process. GBI may be designed to reduce the ecological footprint, reduce natural hazards, and improve the quality of urban living environment (e.g air quality, water quality, noise, climate, aesthetics). GBI provide space for relaxation and restoration as well as exercise and leisure activities, promote new green services and jobs, and therefore increase the resilience of cities facing the Global Change.
Many Mediterranean cities present few spaces considered as GBI. In our case study, does Málaga city have GBI providing ES to its population? Málaga is a Mediterranean city of importance in southern Europe due to its strategic location and good communications. It has a population of almost 600.000 people plus the great amount of tourist throughout the year. Thus, it would be rather important to have GBI improving urban quality life and well-being.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech
