The article explains in historic context the new cycle of Mapuche mobilizations that have been intensified in the last decade. This Mapuche movement is the principal movement in Chile for territorial autonomous power that resists a homogenizing presidential political system that is both centralized and nationalist. The article explains the dispossession of Mapuche territory by the Chilean state and the logic of minoritization that has been maintained in the new democracy with sectorial politics but no autonomy or political power. Next it will consider the complexity of the Mapuche movement and demands for the return of dispossessed lands beginning in the year 1997, explaining the complexity of the violence in the territory of the Araucania and the struggle against the forestry companies. The principal proposal for a political solution to the conflict is to accept the idea of a plurinational autonomous region, with a parliament with indigenous quotas, a process of devolution of resources, indigenous law and recovery of the mapuzungu language

Wastewater Treatment by Advanced Oxidation Process and Their Worldwide Research Trends

    Get PDF
Background: Water is a scarce resource and is considered a fundamental pillar of sustainable development. The modern development of society requires more and more drinking water. For this cleaner wastewater, treatments are key factors. Among those that exist, advanced oxidation processes are being researched as one of the sustainable solutions. The main objective of this manuscript is to show the scientific advances in this field. Methods: In this paper, a systematic analysis of all the existing scientific works was carried out to verify the evolution of this line of research. Results: It was observed that the three main countries researching this field are China, Spain, and the USA. Regarding the scientific collaboration between countries, three clusters were detected—one of Spain, one of China and the USA, and one of Italy and France. The publications are grouped around three types of water: industrial, urban, and drinking. Regarding the research, 15 clusters identified from the keywords analyzed the advanced oxidation process (alone or combined with biological oxidation) with the type of wastewater and the target pollutant, removal of which is intended. Finally, the most important scientific communities or clusters detected in terms of the number of published articles were those related to the elimination of pollutants of biological origin, such as bacteria, and of industrial nature, such as pesticides or pharmaceutical products

Development of an Emergency Radio Beacon for Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

    Get PDF
Emergency locator transmitters (ELTs) used to locate manned aircrafts are not well suited to find and recover small crashed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). ELTs utilize an international satellite system for search and rescue (Cospas-Sarsat System), which should leverage its expensive resources to save lives as a priority. Besides, ELTs are too big and heavy to be used within small UAVs. Some of the existing solutions for this problem are based on receivers that detect signal strength, which may be a long and tedious process not suitable for user needs. Others do not have enough range or require radio license and expensive amateur radio receivers. This paper presents an emergency radio beacon specifically designed to locate small UAVs. It is triggered automatically in the event of a crash and allows finding and recovering a crashed UAV in a fast and simple way. It meets not only the required specifications of user-friendliness, size and weight of this kind of application, but also it is a high precision and low cost device. Besides, it has enough range and endurance. The experiments carried out show the operation of the proposed system

The aim of the paper is twofold. First, some results of Shiota and Plaza-Martín on Prym varieties of curves with an involution are generalized to the general case of an arbitrary automorphism of prime order. Second, the equations defining the moduli space of curves with an automorphism of prime order as a subscheme of the Sato Grassmannian are given

Sistema de localización de dispositivos portátiles a través de WiFi: LAPLOWIX

    Get PDF

“Anti-Michael addition” of Grignard reagents to sulfonylacetylenes: synthesis of alkynes

In this work, the addition of Grignard reagents to arylsulfonylacetylenes, which undergoes an “anti-Michael addition”, resulting in their alkynylation under very mild conditions is described. The simplicity of the experimental procedure and the functional group tolerance are the main features of this methodology. This is an important advantage over the use of organolithium at −78 °C that we previously reported. Moreover, the synthesis of diynes and other examples showing functional group tolerance in this anti-Michael reaction is also presentedFinancial support from the Spanish Government CTQ2012- 35957 (MINECO) and CTQ2015-64561-R (MINECO/FEDER) is gratefully acknowledged.
