Perspectives and contributions from translation between Romance languages

Este artículo delimita un área interdisciplinaria entre la traductología, la filología y lingüística románicas inscrita en los estudios teóricos, restringidos a un grupo lingüístico de acuerdo con Holmes (1972/1988/2000). Con este objetivo, presentamos, en primer lugar, la Romania como espacio pluridimensional, donde se hablan las lenguas neolatinas, para formular una propuesta de traducción intrarrománica. Acto seguido, examinaremos los elementos lingüísticos, literarios, culturales e históricos que jalonan el proceso de traducción entre, para y desde idiomas de dicho grupo. Evaluamos las posibilidades y límites de tal propuesta y concluimos apuntando algunas líneas de investigación que se abren para futuros estudios.This paper aims to describe an interdisciplinary area between Translation Studies and Romance linguistics and philology, an interface in the area-restricted theories of the map of Holmes (1972/1988/2000). To this purpose, first we present the Romania as multidimensional space, where different Romance languages are spoken, and we formulate a proposal of Intra-Romance-group translation. Then we analyze linguistic, literary, cultural and historical components that mark the process of translation between, to and from languages of that group. We evaluate the possibilities and limits of such a proposal and, finally, we offer potential research lines open for future studies

La construcción de un discurso panlatino en el poema A la Roumanìo de Frédéric Mistral

Cet article l’objectif d’examiner la construction d’un discours pan-latiniste dans l’œuvre Lis isclos d’Or (1889) de Frédéric Mistral et plus particulièrement celui de formuler les liens entre les domaines culturels, géographiques et linguistiques de la Provence et de la Roumanie dans le sonnet A la Roumanìo. Ainsi, nous présenterons la figure du poète dans le Félibrige, mouvement littéraire apparu dans le contexte romantique européen de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle. Ensuite, nous discuterons les différents éléments leur permettant de développer un discours nationaliste ouvert au dialogue avec d’autres mouvements culturels et avec d’autres auteurs contemporains plus ou moins proches. Pour notre travail, nous utiliserons les outils méthodologiques offerts par l’analyse du discours, la critique littéraire et encore d’autres domaines des sciences humaines tels que les Études Postcoloniales et la Romanistique. Enfin, nous examinerons les réflexions sur le langage qui imprègnent les vers de l’auteur et nous proposerons deux niveaux d’analyse : dans le premier la langue occupe la position de l’objet et dans le seconde elle occupe la position du sujet. Tradução, língua e identidade em poetas occitanos e catalães do século XIX, elementos para uma tradução entre línguas românicas

Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Tradução, Florianópolis, 2014.Esta tese parte da pesquisa das interfaces entre os Estudos da Tradução e outras áreas das ciências humanas: os Estudos Pós-coloniais e a Romanística com o objetivo de apresentar uma discussão a respeito de estratégias e abordagens na tradução de poesia entre línguas cognatas. Com esse propósito, delimitamos um corpus que organizamos, editamos, traduzimos e examinamos; uma antologia de textos poéticos escritos em língua occitana e em língua catalã no século XIX que têm como temática a língua vinculada à identidade. Ainda que a antologia integre textos de vários autores, todos eles pertencem a um mesmo período histórico, a uma área geográfica contígua e a movimentos estético-literários paralelos: Felibritge e Renaixença. Assumimos uma proposta de tradução que definimos como intra-românica, e avaliamos as possibilidades e os limites de tal proposta aplicada ao processo tradutório dos textos da antologia em português brasileiro, relevando os elementos linguísticos e literários que balizam nosso trabalho. Assim (1) apresentamos os poemas originais junto à tradução para o português; e, em seguida, (2) discutimos os desafios do ato tradutório e analisamos as divergências, os paralelismos e as convergências entre os originais e a nossa tradução. Para concluir, (3) comentamos as reflexões sobre a língua que eles transmitem.Abstract : This research seeks to investigate the interdisciplinary crossroad between Translation Studies and other areas of Human Sciences, in particular The Post Colonial Studies and Romance Language. For this purpose, we have selected an anthology of poems written in Occitan and Catalan language in the nineteenth century. The common topic, the link between language and identity. Although the anthology integrates and is composed of texts by different authors, they all belong to the same historical period, geographical area contiguous to and parallel aesthetic ?wordiness? and literary movements: Felibritge y Renaixença. First, we propose and a translation that is defined as intra-Romanesque. Then, we evaluate the possibilities and limitations of such an approach to the translation process of this anthology into Brazilian Portuguese. « Il futuro ha un cuore antico » : parcours historique des discours sur l’intercompréhension entre langues romanes

La perception de la distance et de la proximité entre les langues romanes fut constante depuis le Moyen Âge (Wright, 1989). Ainsi, la linguistique romane, en tant que science moderne, se fonde sur l’application de la méthode historico-comparative (Posner, 1998). En partant de ces constatations, nous présentons les discours épilinguistiques de plusieurs intellectuels (comme Raynouard, Mistral, Bréal, Gaston Paris, Ronjat, Jaurès, Saussure et Eco) qui ont précédé le développement de l’intercompréhension, à la fin des années 1990, en tant qu’approche pédagogique proprement dite (Candelier, 2009). En définitive, nous espérons que notre entreprise participera à la constitution d’un espace de compréhension mutuelle.The perception of distance and proximity between Romance languages has been constant since the Middle Ages (Wright, 1989). Thus, Romance linguistics, as a modern science, are based on the application of the historical-comparative method (Posner, 1998). Based on these observations, we present the epilinguistic speech of several intellectuals (such as Raynouard, Mistral, Bréal, Gaston Paris, Ronjat, Jaurès, Saussure and Eco) which preceded the development of intercomprehension at the end of the 1990s. , as a strictly educational approach (Candelier, 2009). OS ESTUDOS GALEGOS NA FORMAÇÃO DOS CURSOS DE LETRAS: O PERCURSO DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO PARANÁ

Even today, Galician Studies are still (almost) absent in the Brazilian universitary landscape. Paradoxical fact because the role of Galicia and the Galician language are essential for understanding the history and current affairs of the Portuguese language (LAGARES; MONTEAGUDO, 2012). Thus, to minimally fill this gap, since 2016 the discipline of Introduction to Galician Language and Culture has been offered, as an option for students of the undergraduate courses in Letters at the Federal University of Paraná, in Curitiba. The 30-hour course deals globally with cultural, artistic-literary, linguistic and historical aspects between Galician and Portuguese; using methodological tools from the plural approaches to the teaching of languages and cultures (CANDELIER et al., 2012). Within this general context, the present research, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, proposes structured questionnaires to examine the students' familiarization with Galician Studies both at the beginning of the option and at the end. Thus, we can understand the contribution of such studies to the training of students, future professionals of Language Studies. Thus, we aim to achieve an understanding, through the student's response, of the awareness acquired throughout the discipline and observe how this allows UFPR students to get closer to the linguistic and cultural scope of Galicia.Ainda hoje os Estudos Galegos continuam estando (quase) ausentes no panorama universitário brasileiro. Fato paradoxal, pois o papel da Galiza e da língua galega são essenciais para a compreensão da história e da atualidade da língua portuguesa (LAGARES; MONTEAGUDO, 2012). Assim, para preencher minimamente essa lacuna, desde 2016 é ofertada a disciplina de Introdução à Língua e à Cultura Galegas, como optativa para os/as estudantes do curso de graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal do Paraná, em Curitiba. A disciplina, com carga horária de 30 horas, aborda de maneira global os aspectos culturais, artístico-literários, linguísticos e históricos do galego e traça pontes com o português brasileiro; empregando ferramentas metodológicas procedentes das abordagens plurais para o ensino de línguas e de culturas (CANDELIER et al., 2012). Dentro desse contexto geral, a presente pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa, propõe questionários estruturados para examinar a familiarização das/os alunas/os com os Estudos Galegos tanto ao início da optativa quanto ao finalizá-la. Dessa forma, podemos entender a contribuição de tais estudos para a formação dos/as estudantes, futuros profissionais dos Estudos da Linguagem. Objetivamos alcançar uma compreensão, por meio das respostas, da consciência adquirida ao longo da disciplina e observar como isso permite aproximar as/os estudantes da UFPR ao âmbito linguístico e cultural da Galiza
