Effects of different fertilizers on quantity and quality of silage corn

Different fertilizers, ammonia sulfate and urea (MIN), Fertil 12.5 (ORG) and Azoslow (ORG-MIN) were compared in a silage corn crop. Total biomass yield was above 55.0 t ha-1 for all fertilizers. Azoslow showed the highest dry matter content (40.8%). No differences among the fertilizers were found in protein content (4.9% on average) at waxy ripening, with the control showing the lowest value (3.9%). There were also no differences in silage quality among the fertilizers. The N budget was estimated in order to quantify the residual nitrogen amounts at harvest and the efficiency of fertilizers

We present a case of 35 years old man presented with aseptic distal tibial nonunion without bone defect. Previous unsuccessful surgical attempt, consisting on revision of the internal fixation and iliac crest bone grafting, was performed. After studying the different treatment options, we suggested him to carry out an endomedular nail stabilization of the nonunion site in combination with a descending genicular corticoperiosteal free flap to provide osteogenetic enhancement, as described by Sakai. Discussion: The treatment protocol of the distal tibial nonunion still remains controversial. When other surgical attempts are unsuccessful, the combination of endomedular nailing and descending genicular corticoperiosteal free flap, may be useful. This surgical technique may require a coordinated work between orthopaedic and plastic surgeons

    Maxwell-like Lagrangians for higher spins

We show how implementing invariance under divergence-free gauge transformations leads to a remarkably simple Lagrangian description of massless bosons of any spin. Our construction covers both flat and (A)dS backgrounds and extends to tensors of arbitrary mixed-symmetry type. Irreducible and traceless fields produce single-particle actions, while whenever trace constraints can be dispensed with the resulting Lagrangians display the same reducible, multi-particle spectra as those emerging from the tensionless limit of free open-string field theory. For all explored options the corresponding kinetic operators take essentially the same form as in the spin-one, Maxwell case.Comment: 77 pages, revised version. Erroneous interpretation and proof of the gauge-fixing procedure for mixed-symmetry fields corrected. As a consequence, the mixed-symmetry, one-particle Lagrangians are to be complemented with conditions on the divergences of the fields; all other conclusions unchanged. Additional minor changes including references added. To appear in JHE

Virtual mechanical product disassembly sequences based on disassembly order graphs and time measurement units

Recently, the approach that defines the total life cycle assessment (LCA) and the end of life (EoL) in the early design phases is becoming even more promising. Literature evidences many advantages in terms of the saving of costs and time and in the fluent organization of the whole design process. Design for disassembly (DfD) offers the possibility of reducing the time and cost of disassembling a product and accounts for the reusing of parts and of the dismantling of parts, joints, and materials. The sequence of disassembly is the ordered way to extract parts from an assembly and is a focal item in DfD because it can deeply influence times and operations. In this paper, some disassembly sequences are evaluated, and among them, two methods for defining an optimal sequence are provided and tested on a case study of a mechanical assembly. A further sequence of disassembly is provided by the authors based on experience and personal knowledge. All three are analyzed by the disassembly order graph (DOG) approach and compared. The operations evaluated have been converted in time using time measurement units (TMUs). As result, the best sequence has been highlighted in order to define a structured and efficient disassembly
