Riassunto: Il contributo discute alcune questioni legate, in modo più o meno tangenziale, a La llegenda del llibreter assassí de Barcelona: dopo aver sottoposto il libro di Ramon Miquel i Planas alle domande, di metodo e di merito, presenti in un affine e più recente “giallo filologico” (il saggio di Alberto Varvaro sulla vicenda della baronessa di Carini), e dopo essersi interrogato circa il filone paraletterario delle cosiddette “Cause celebri” e circa una declinazione naturalista e straniante della letteratura processuale (il dittico di Galdós Realidad-Incógnita), il discorso si sposta su di un aspetto più prettamente storico-culturale e tematico quale l’intreccio fra bibliomania e cleptomania (soprattutto in Flaubert). L’articolo si conclude con una rapida ricognizione dei plagi letterari realizzati da Nodier, il presunto colpevole del falso da cui si diparte tutta la genealogia indagata da Miquel i Planas: un colpevole che, proprio mentre si macchia di molteplici crimini letterari, dedica loro un sofisticato trattato giurisprudenziale, in cui sistematizza e stigmatizza quegli stessi crimini. Parole chiave: filologia; paraletteratura; processo; bibliomania; plagio Abstract: This essay seeks to investigate tangentially some questions regarding La llegenda del llibreter assassí de Barcelona: after having analyzed the approaches, methods and strategies –that Alberto Varvaro has thoroughly examined in the essay on Baroness di Carini’s story–, and the literary quality achieved by Ramon Miquel i Planas in his work; and after having probed the paraliterary line of the so-called “famous trials” –mostly focusing on the naturalistic estrangement effect produced by literature works related to legal cases (e.g. the conventional diptych in Galdós’s Realidad-Incógnita)–, the centre of attention shifts on the cultural, historical aspects of the bizarre relationship between kleptomania and bibliomania (especially in Flaubert). The article concludes with a swift overview of literary plagiarisms committed by Nodier, the presumed culprit of the forgery, from which the genealogy investigated by Miquel i Planas builds up: a culprit that, while committing several literary crimes, decides to write a jurisprudential treaty in order to systematize and sentence them. “Animaloni di razze perdute”, o del banditismo contagiato

Una particolare forma di contagio, strettamente legata al contagio delle idee, è il contagio dell’immaginario. Nel contributo si indaga su come lo stereotipo del brigante (la banditti mania) si sia diffuso così a fondo nell’Ottocento da penetrare segretamente anche nei Promessi sposi, vale a dire in una delle scritture più sorvegliate e più originali del nostro Ottocento romanzesco. In particolare, nello “Schizzo più ampio della figura dell’innominato” (presente tra i cosiddetti “Fogli staccati”, che si riferiscono alla fase intermedia tra Fermo e Lucia e Ventisettana), la parabola del personaggio sembra prendere una traiettoria un po’ diversa da quella che tutti ricordano: colui che sarà, nella redazione definitiva, «tiranno» in senso titanico e tragico, oltre che icona potente della conversione, risulta qui ancora il metaforico «tiranno» (cioè fuorilegge, bandito) di un microcosmo malavitoso urbano.A particular form of contagion, closely linked to the contagion of ideas, is the contagion of the imagination. This contribution investigates how the stereotype of the bandit (the so-called bandit mania) was so widespread in the 19th century that it secretly penetrated even into the Promessi sposi ‘The Betrothed’, i.e. one of the most carefully controlled and most original writings of the 19th-century novelistic production in Italy. In particular, in the  “Schizzo più ampio della figura dell’innominato” 'Wider sketch of the figure of the unnamed' (present among the so-called 'Loose leaves', which refer to the intermediate phase between Fermo e Lucia and the Ventisettana), the character's trajectory seems to take a slightly different path to the one everyone remembers: he who will be, in the final version, a 'tyrant' in a titanic and tragic sense, as well as a powerful icon of conversion, is here still the metaphorical 'tyrant' (i.e. outlaw, bandit) of an urban microcosm of the underworld

Controcanto epico. Vie del romanzo di famiglia tra postmoderno e ipermoderno

Attraverso l’analisi di due recenti romanzi (Il Romanzo della Nazione di Maurizio Maggiani, 2015 e Here I am di Jonathan Safran Foer, 2017), il contributo si propone di istituire un dialogo teorico fra due distinte categorie formali (il “modo” epico e il “genere “del romanzo di famiglia). È possibile, nell’epoca “ipermoderna” in cui viviamo, configurare una narrazione nazionale, mettendo in scena per via allegorica una soggettività collettiva, attraverso un genere così privato e catafratto, per definizione posto al di qua della Storia? Che specie di canto (o di controcanto) sortisce da un innesto in apparenza così incongruo? Through the analysis of two recent novels (Il Romanzo della Nazione by Maurizio Maggiani, 2015, and Here I am by Jonathan Safran Foer, 2017), this paper aims to establish a theoretical dialogue between two different formal categories (the epic mode and the family novel genre). Novel Adaptive Fixturing for Precise Micro-positioning of Thin Walled Parts

Fixtures are used to locate and hold workpieces during machining. Because workpiece surface errors and fixture set-up errors (called source errors) always exist, the fixtured workpiece will consequently have position and/or orientation errors (called resultant errors) that will definitely affect the final machining accuracy. This paper illustrates a novel adaptive fixturing based on active clamping forces for smart micropositioning of thin walled precision parts. The aim of obtaining a modular unit, reusable and exploitable to different industrial applications has been pursued during the design phase. The proposed adaptive fixturing device can lead to the following advantages: - to perform an automatic errors-free workpiece clamping and then drastically reduce the overall fixturing set up time; - to recover unwanted strains induced on the workpiece, in order to limit the amplitude of elastic strain recovery; - to perform, if necessary, active vibration control (AVC) in order to limit vibration/chatter effects induced by the cutting tool

The famous utopia imagined by René Etiemble (Comparaison n'est pas raison, 1963: 29) is today even more distant - and perhaps even more absurd - in the times of globalization and of the "transparent society": the radicality of his assumption seems the legacy of a dream of universalism and panlogism now vanished. In spite of what Claudio Guillén had hoped in his introduction of Entre lo uno y lo diverso (1985-2005), comparative literature of recent decades does not seem to have taken the road that history had pointed out.«L’istituto che sogno comprenderebbe naturalmente ellenisti e latinisti, ma anche sumerologi e egittologi, ma anche slavisti, specialisti di hindi e bengali, sinologi, germanisti e romanisti, ma anche semitisti, uomini esperti delle letterature ugro-finniche, turco-mongole, dravidiche, senza dimenticare il giapponese! Nella storia delle letterature tutto si tiene, e nessuno potrà mai comprenderne una, dico comprenderla, se non possiede qualcosa in più di semplici nozioni su un numero abbastanza grande di altre letterature».Per paradosso, questa celebre utopia immaginata quasi mezzo secolo fa da René Etiemble (Comparaison n’est pas raison 1963: 29) risulta oggi, nel tempo della globalizzazione e della «società trasparente», ancora più remota – e forse anche più assurda – di allora: così che la radicalità del suo assunto di fondo appare quasi il retaggio di un sogno di universalismo e di panlogismo ormai dileguato. A dispetto di quanto si era augurato, con cauto ottimismo, Claudio Guillén nella sua fortunata summa introduttiva (Entre lo uno y lo diverso 1985-2005: passim), la comparatistica degli ultimi decenni non sembra, infatti, avere imboccato con decisione la strada maestra che la storia – storia di muri caduti e di interconnessioni planetarie – le indicava

This essay presents itself as theoretical introduction to the question of humour (in its basic articulation among parodic, satirical and anti-narrative forms). It offers a concise excursus among the various sections of the volume resulting from the Compalit Conference Who Laughs Last: Parody Satire Humour held in Naples (16-18 December 2015): from the plenary lectures of the first section to the papers developed in the other five sections focused on, respectively: the examination of the present heuristic effectiveness of Bakhtin’s theory; an investigation on parodies of the sacred in contemporary literature and fine arts; a genealogy of anti-narrative writing ascribable to the archetype of Sterne’s Tristram Shandy; a morphology of the literary works marked by “dianoetic laugh” and apocalyptic humour; the transmedia crossing of the “palimpsests” of the 20th century, with a particular reference to theatre and cinema (but also to television, comics and the web).Questo saggio introduttivo prova una sistemazione teorica della questione del­l’umo­­rismo (nella sua fondamentale articolazione tra forme parodiche, satiriche e antinarrative) e propone un sommario excursus attraverso le diverse sezioni del volume, risultato del Convegno Compalit Chi ride ultimo: Parodia satira umorismi (Napoli, 16-18 dicembre 2015): dalle “lezioni magistrali” comprese nella prima alle relazioni sviluppate nelle altre cinque, e incentrate rispettivamente su: una verifica dell’attuale efficacia euristica della concezione bachtiniana; un’indagine sulle parodie del sacro nella letteratura e nelle arti contemporanee; una genealogia delle scritture antinarrative riconducibili all’archetipo settecentesco del Tristram Shandy di Sterne; una morfologia delle opere letterarie segnate da «risata dianoetica» e umori apocalittici; un attraversamento transmediale dei «palinsesti» novecenteschi, con particolare riferimento al teatro e al cinema (ma guardando anche alla televisione, al fumetto e al web).

Experienced Use of Dexmedetomidine in the Intensive Care Unit: A Report of a Structured Consensus

OBJECTIVE: Management of pain, agitation and delirium (PAD) remains to be a true challenge in critically ill patients. The pharmacological proprieties of dexmedetomidine (DEX) make it an ideal candidate drug for light and cooperative sedation, but many practical questions remain unanswered. This structured consensus from 17 intensivists well experienced on PAD management and DEX use provides indications for the appropriate use of DEX in clinical practice. METHODS: A modified RAND/UCLA appropriateness method was used. In four predefined patient populations, the clinical scenarios do not properly cope by the current recommended pharmacological strategies (except DEX), and the possible advantages of DEX use were identified and voted for agreement, after reviewing literature data. RESULTS: Three scenarios in medical patients, five scenarios in patients with acute respiratory failure undergoing non-invasive ventilation, three scenarios in patients with cardiac surgery in the early postoperative period and three scenarios in patients with overt delirium were identified as challenging with the current PAD strategies. In these scenarios, the use of DEX was voted as potentially useful by most of the panellists owing to its specific pharmacological characteristics, such as conservation of cognitive function, lack of effects on the respiratory drive, low induction of delirium and analgesia effects. CONCLUSION: DEX might be considered as a first-line sedative in different scenarios even though conclusive data on its benefits are still lacking
