    MoRE è un museo nativo digitale in cui si espongono opere, ma anche un archivio digitale in cui si raccolgono ed organizzano documenti, è una piattaforma a molteplici livelli in cui si confrontano differenti modalità di riflessione sulla contemporaneità: attraverso il dialogo con l’artista, il pensiero critico, l’organizzazione dei documenti, la comunicazione e la indagine sul pubblico. In questo intervento si individuano alcuni riferimenti critici che costituiscono un modello di riferimento per il progetto, in quanto riflettono sulla incidenza della dimensione digitale nella trasformazione del museo e dell’archivio.MoRE is a digital native museum where projects of artworks are exposed, and also a digital archive where documents about art projects are collected. MoRE is a multi-layered platform where artists, curators, art historians confront each other collecting art projects, organizing their documentation and defining tools for the communication and surveys on the public. In this paper some critical references are identified, that constitute a model for the project as they reflect on the impact of the digital dimension on the transformation of the museum and archive

    Since the second half of the XX Century, the attention to the food intended as a component of daily rituals increased within art practices, especially within performance art and the making of complex art installations. Food appears to be a central element for the design of spaces and objects, a practice that constantly dialogues with the cultural context, for which it advances also solutions and interpretations in virtue of its spatial and visual metaphors of the relationship between humans and food. This paper presents significant examples starting from the Modern era â in which, with the advent of the merchandise, the sense of loss within a new universe of objects, images and sounds emerges â and arriving at the crisis of this perspective in which a comparison with artistic practices becomes promising.Â&nbsp

    INTEGRATED STRATIGRAPHY FROM THE CONTRADA FORNAZZO SECTION, MONTE INICI, WESTERN SICILY, ITALY: PROPOSED G.S.S.P. FOR THE BASAL BOUNDARY OF THE TITHONIAN STAGE

    This paper deals with a definition of the lower boundary stratotype of the Tithonian Stage in the Upper Jurassic succession of Monte Inici, Western Sicily. The upper member of the Rosso Ammonitico Fm. is 27 m thick and shows a typical nodular-calcareous lithofacies; its lower beds have been sampled for biostratigraphic and paleomagnetic purposes. Though the succession is affected by high stratigraphic condensation, the resulting hiatuses have been shown to be below biochronological resolution and thus do not hinder any biostratigraphic definition. The biostratigraphic analysis has been based on the rich ammonite assemblages in which the common genus Hybonoticeras is the index-key for characterizing the Kimmeridgian-Tithonian boundary. Four ammonite biozones have been identified; the basal Tithonian one is defined by the assemblage of Hybonoticeras gr. hybonotum and Haploceras staszycii. The recorded calcareous nannofossil bioevents allow recognition of the V. stradneri and C. mexicana Zones, whose boundary is located a little below the identified Tithonian lower boundary. The paleomagnetic record shows normal polarity in the S. darwini/V. albertinum Zone and mainly reverse polarity in the H. beckeri and H. hybonotum Zones, with three minor normal polarity intervals; the lower boundary of the Tithonian falls in the oldest of these intervals. The integrated multidisciplinary stratigraphic information gathered from the Contrada Fornazzo section defines the lower boundary of the H. hybonotum Zone at the base of Bed 110, and supplies elements of chrono-correlation sufficient to regard this section as a possible G.S.S.P. of the Tithonian Stage

    CHRONOLOGY OF THE MESSINIAN EVENTS IN THE NORTHERNMOST PART OF THE MEDITERRANEAN: THE GOVONE SECTION (PIEDMONT BASIN, NW ITALY)

    In marginal Mediterranean sub-basins the first phase of the Messinian salinity crisis (MSC) is recorded by primary sulfate evaporites (Primary Lower Gypsum unit); in deeper settings, the gypsum makes lateral transition into shales and marls usually barren of calcareous fossils that can hamper the identification of the MSC onset. The Govone section (Piedmont Basin, NW Italy) represents an opportunity to examine in detail the pre-MSC interval and the transition to the first stage of the MSC in a relatively deep marginal basin in the northernmost sector of the Mediterranean. We provide herein an age model for the Govone section, based on an integrated stratigraphic study, including cycloctratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy and micropaleontology (foraminifera and calcareous nannofossils) of the pre-MSC interval and the transition to the MSC. Chron C3An.1n has not been recognized in the study succession, most likely due to early diagenetic processes. Thus, the last occurrence of Turborotalita multiloba occurring two lithological cycles above the second influx of G. scitula, is the event that best approximate the MSC onset and is consistently recorded across the Piedmont Basin, with higher abundance respect to coeval Mediterranean successions. The calibration of the lithological cyclicity by means of these two bioevents allowed to recognize that, unlike other Mediterranean sections, the disappearance of calcareous microfossils occurs before the MSC onset, probably, in response of diagenetic processes favouring the dissolution of calcareous shells

    Zerovalent Fe, Co and Ni nanoparticle toxicity evaluated on SKOV-3 and U87 cell lines

    ABSTRACT:We have considered nanoparticles (NPs) of Fe, Co and Ni, three transition metals sharing similar chemical properties. NP dissolution, conducted by radioactive tracer method and inductively coupled plasmamass spectrometry, indicated that NiNPs and FeNPs released in the medium a much smaller amount of ions than that released by Co NPs. The two considered methodological approaches, however, gave comparable but not identical results. All NPs are readily internalized by the cells, but their quantity inside the cells is less than 5%. Cytotoxicity and gene expression experimentswere performed on SKOV-3 and U87 cells. In both cell lines, CoNPs and NiNPs were definitely more toxic than FeNPs. Real-time polymerase chain reaction experiments aimed to evaluatemodifications of the expression of genes involved in the cellular stress response (HSP70, MT2A), or susceptible to metal exposure (SDHB1 and MLL), or involved in specific cellular processes (caspase3, IQSEC1 and VMP1), gave different response patterns in the two cell lines. HSP70, for example, was highly upregulated by CoNPs and NiNPs, but only in SKOV-3 cell lines. Overall, this work underlines the difficulties in predicting NP toxicological properties based only on their chemical characteristics. We, consequently, think that, at this stage of our knowledge, biological effects induced by metal-based NPs should be examined on a case-by-case basis following studies on different in vitro models. Moreover, with the only exception of U87 exposed to Ni, our results suggest thatmetallic NPs have caused, on gene expression, similar effects to those caused by their cor- Q2 responding ions

    O desenvolvimento do protocolo de avaliação de bem-estar AWIN (Animal Welfare Indicators) para jumentos

    The donkey population has increased in the last 10 years, with an estimated 50 million donkeys currently worldwide. Donkey welfare, meanwhile, is an increasing global concern that receives close public scrutiny. However, multiple challenges are surrounding how donkey welfare is assessed and recorded. The Animal Welfare Indicators (AWIN) project is the first project, funded by the European Commission, intended to improve donkey welfare by developing a scientifically sound and practical on-farm welfare assessment protocol. The present study describes the procedure for the development of the AWIN welfare assessment protocol for donkeys: 1) selection of promising welfare indicators; 2) research to cover gaps in knowledge; 3) stakeholder consultation; 4) testing the prototype protocol on-farm. The proposed two-level strategy improved on-farm feasibility, while the AWIN donkey app enables the standardized collection of data with prompt results. Although limitations are linked with a relatively small reference population, the AWIN welfare assessment protocol represents the first scientific and standardized approach to evaluate donkey welfare on-farm.Na última década, a população de jumentos vem aumentando; estima-se que existam aproximadamente 50 milhões de em todo o mundo. O bem-estar dos jumentos é uma preocupação global crescente, que recebe um escrutínio público próximo. No entanto, existem vários desafios em torno de como o bem-estar do jumento é avaliado e registrado. O projeto Indicadores de Bem-Estar Animal (AWIN) foi o primeiro projeto, financiado pela Comissão Europeia, destinado a melhorar o bem-estar dos jumentos, desenvolvendo um protocolo de avaliação do bem-estar cientificamente válido e prático na fazenda. O presente estudo descreve o procedimento para o desenvolvimento do protocolo de avaliação de bem-estar AWIN para jumentos: 1) seleção de indicadores promissores de bem-estar; 2) pesquisa para cobrir lacunas no conhecimento; 3) consulta às partes interessadas; 4) testando o protocolo do protótipo em fazendas. A estratégia proposta em dois níveis de avaliação melhorou a viabilidade na fazenda, além disso, o aplicativo AWIN donkey permite coletar dados de maneira padronizada e mostrar resultados rapidamente. Embora a limitação esteja ligada a uma população de referência relativamente pequena, o protocolo de avaliação de bem-estar do AWIN representa a primeira abordagem científica e padronizada para avaliar o bem-estar de jumentos em fazendas

    In recent years, three sections (Humipedon, Copedon and Lithopedon) were recognized in the soil profile. It was then possible to link the first and most biologically active section to the characteristics of the environment and soil genesis. In particular, it is now possible to distinguish organic horizons, mainly produced by arthropods and enchytraeids in cold and acidic or dry and arid environments, from organo-mineral horizons produced by earthworms in more temperate and mesotrophic environments. Each set of horizons can be associated with a humus system or form, with important implications for forestry. Anecic/endogeic earthworms and Mull or Amphi systems are more abundant in the early and late stages of sylvogenesis; by completely recycling litter, earthworms accelerate the availability of organic and inorganic soil nutrients to roots and pedofauna. On the other hand, arthropods and Moder or Tangel systems characterize the intermediate stages of sylvogenesis, where thickening in the organic horizons and the parallel impoverishment/reduction in the underlying organo-mineral horizons are observed. Recognizing the humus system at the right spatial and temporal scale is crucial for the biological management of a forest.     VSV-G-Enveloped Vesicles for Traceless Delivery of CRISPR-Cas9

    The method of delivery of CRISPR-Cas9 into target cells is a strong determinant of efficacy and specificity in genome editing. Even though high efficiency of Cas9 delivery is necessary for optimal editing, its long-term and high levels of expression correlate with increased off-target activity. We developed vesicles (VEsiCas) carrying CRISPR-SpCas9 ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) that are efficiently delivered into target cells through the fusogenic glycoprotein of the vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV-G). A crucial step for VEsiCas production is the synthesis of the single guide RNA (sgRNA) mediated by the T7 RNA polymerase in the cytoplasm of producing cells as opposed to canonical U6-driven Pol III nuclear transcription. In VEsiCas, the absence of DNA encoding SpCas9 and sgRNA allows rapid clearance of the nuclease components in target cells, which correlates with reduced genome-wide off-target cleavages. Compared with SpCas9 RNPs electroporation, which is currently the method of choice to obtain transient SpCas9 activity, VEsiCas deliver the nuclease with higher efficiency and lower toxicity. We show that a wide variety of cells can be edited through VEsiCas, including a variety of transformed cells, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and cardiomyocytes, in vivo. VEsiCas is a traceless CRISPR-Cas9 delivery tool for efficient and safe genome editing that represents a further advancement toward the therapeutic use of the CRISPR-Cas9 technology
