Customer satisfaction is a very important factor in organizational profit and positioning for effective competitive advantage requires making decisions based on quality inferences from data mining. The aim of this paper is to provide competitive advantage inferences based on analyzing customer satisfaction data using the combination of k-means clustering and association rule mining technique. Based on the information gotten from the questionnaires administered to retrieve customer satisfaction information of mobile network service providers in Nigeria, prediction is done and inferences are generated with the help of clusters and association rules. This paper proposes an effective method to extract knowledge from questionnaire data which is very useful for improving the competitive advantage of organizations. In conclusion, the paper has been able to identify the factors that contribute to customer satisfaction in the Nigeria Mobile Network secto

In vitro antibacterial activity of the aqueous extract of Phyllanthus muellerianus leaves against some selected organisms

The in vitro activity of the aqueous extract of Phyllanthus muellerianus leaves against some selected organisms was investigated. The aqueous extract of P. muellerianus leaves was subjected to phytochemical screening. In addition, its antibacterial activity against clinical isolates, including Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus was determined at 1.25, 2.50, 5.00, 10.00, 12.50, 25.00 and 50.00 mg/ml body weight in albino rats. Phytochemical screening revealed amongst others the presence of cardenolides (0.33%), cardiac glycosides (0.51%), flavonoids (0.16%), saponins (1.21%), tannins (0.68%), phenolics (0.55%) and terpenoids (0.08%). Antibacterial study revealed that the aqueous extract of P. muellerianus leaves was bacteriostatic for about 15 hours on all the tested organisms except Proteus mirabilis which showed growth at all the concentrations used. Consequently, the data in the present study indicates that the aqueous extract of P. muellerianus leaves possessed antibacterial properties, being most effective at 50.00 mg/kg body weight

Natural Convection Heat Transfer and Entropy Generation Analysis in Saltbox Roof under Summer Conditions

    Get PDF
This study investigates numerically the 2D laminar natural convection in a Saltbox roof type geometry under summer climate conditions as obtained in Africa, particularly Nigeria using ANSYS FLUENT to model the boundary conditions. The effects of Rayleigh number (Ra) within the range of 103-107 and pitch angles (top and base) on heat transfer, the flow structure, temperature distribution and entropy generation within the geometry were analysed. Results show that the flow is nearly symmetric at lower Ra, while for higher Ra, the flow becomes asymmetric. The Nusselt number (Nu) has a proportional relationship with the top pitch angle and an inverse relationship with the base pitch angle when the Rayleigh number is fixed. The effect of the Ra on the Nu is insignificant at lower Ra, but becomes noticeable at higher Ra. The total entropy generation increases with an increase in top pitch angle and a decrease in base pitch angles, at fixed Rayleigh numbers. The physical implication is that, for a Saltbox roof type geometry, at fixed Ra, the best convective heat transfer process is achieved by lowering the base pitch angle and increasing the top pitch angle

Effect of dietary folic acid and energy density on immune response, gut morphology, and oxidative status in blood and breast muscle of broiler chickens

Folic acid (FA) plays an essential role in the functioning of the gut and serves as an antioxidant. Therefore, dietary supplementation with high levels of FA may improve gut health and prevent oxidative stress caused by feeding a high energy density diet to broiler chickens. Broiler chickens were assigned into eight treatments, consisting of either a normal energy (NE) or high energy (HE) density diet, and four FA levels (2.2, 5, 10, and 15 ppm). Data were analyzed by SAS 16 GLM procedure. Birds fed HE diets had increased (PThe accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page. Factors associated with the number of antenatal care visits among internally displaced women in northern Nigeria

This study explored the factors associated with the uptake of antenatal care services among internally displaced women (IDW) innorthern Nigeria. The sample included ANC visits for 422 respondents who had a birth five years before the survey and living inthe selected camps. Multinomial logistic regression was applied. Findings showed that only 28% of women visited ANC clinicsfor the recommended number of visits. IDW with some form of education were significantly more likely to have attended four ormore ANC visits compared to the IDW with no education. Other covariates found to have a significant relationship with four ormore ANC visits include, camp of displacement and access to newspaper. To improve uptake of ANC to fit the recommendationsof the WHO and meet SDG3, the government and humanitarian organizations should continue to use media as a tool for advocacyin educating women on the benefits of complying with the recommended number of ANC uptake. Improving agriculture and food security in Africa: Can the one health approach be the answer?

    No full text
The menace of food insecurity precipitated by climate change, zoonotic diseases and natural disasters poses a great threat to the sub-Saharan African region. Promoting food security and sustainable food systems is a priority for enhancing development in Africa. Holistic techniques such as one health approach recognises the linkages between the health of people, animals and the environment, and foster collaboration among various disciplines and stakeholders to address complex challenges. This review explored one health as a holistic approach in contributing to improved food security and sustainable food systems in African agriculture. Reviewed studies provided ample evidences demonstrating the robustness of one health approach as a multidisciplinary approach capable of increasing food production while enhancing health and environmental sustainability. The one health approach is not without challenges, however its capacity to encompass education and capacity building, policy formulation and execution, funding, advocacy and collaborations among multiple disciplines, makes it a veritable tool to improving food security and food systems in Africa. Achieving the balance between food production, food security, healthy living, and sustainable utilization of natural resources in providing for the existing population while preserving the benefits for future generations hinges on integrative actions such as one health approach.    </p
