Methodological and terminological issues in animal-assisted interventions: An umbrella review of systematic reviews
Recently, animal-assisted interventions (AAIs), which are defined as psychological, educational, and rehabilitation support activities, have become widespread in different contexts. For many years, they have been a subject of interest in the international scientific community and are at the center of an important discussion regarding their effectiveness and the most appropriate practices for their realization. We carried out an umbrella review (UR) of systematic reviews (SRs), created for the purpose of exploring the literature and aimed at deepening the terminological and methodological aspects of AAIs. It is created by exploring the online databases PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library. The SRs present in the high-impact indexed search engines Web of Sciences and Scopus are selected. After screening, we selected 15 SRs that met the inclusion criteria. All papers complained of the poor quality of AAIs; some considered articles containing interventions that did not always correspond to the terminology they have explored and whose operating practices were not always comparable. This stresses the need for the development and consequent diffusion of not only operational protocols, but also research protocols which provide for the homogeneous use of universally recognized terminologies, thus facilitating the study, deepening, and comparison between the numerous experiences described
Optimized production of large Bose Einstein Condensates
We suggest different simple schemes to efficiently load and evaporate a
''dimple'' crossed dipolar trap. The collisional processes between atoms which
are trapped in a reservoir load in a non adiabatic way the dimple. The
reservoir trap can be provided either by a dark SPOT Magneto Optical Trap, the
(aberrated) laser beam itself or by a quadrupolar or quadratic magnetic trap.
Optimal parameters for the dimple are derived from thermodynamical equations
and from loading time, including possible inelastic and Majorana losses. We
suggest to load at relatively high temperature a tight optical trap. Simple
evaporative cooling equations, taking into account gravity, the possible
occurrence of hydrodynamical regime, Feshbach resonance processes and three
body recombination events are given. To have an efficient evaporation the
elastic collisional rate (in s) is found to be on the order of the
trapping frequency and lower than one hundred times the temperature in
micro-Kelvin. Bose Einstein condensates with more than atoms should be
obtained in much less than one second starting from an usual MOT setup.Comment: 14 page
Sustainable landscape in arid zones : useful ornamental xeric species
Se analiza el valor económico,
ecológico y paisajístico de especies vegetales,
pertenecientes a la flora espontánea de
Mendoza (Argentina), resistentes a la sequía
y que pueden alcanzar porte arbóreo. Su empleo
ahorra agua de riego en espacios verdes
ornamentales y de protección ambiental.
Se sugiere medidas de conservación de
las especies espontáneas más útiles
paisajísticamente, así como normas generales
sobre métodos de plantación y mantenimiento.
Se recomiendan especies leñosas
espontáneas de la provincia, de bajo requerimiento
hídrico, utilizables paisajísticamente. This paper analyzes the economic,
ecological and landscape value of drought
resistant species from the spontaneous flora
of Mendoza (Argentina). Some of such
species could reach tree size and its use
might save the irrigation water used for ornamental
and environmental protection
areas.
Actions to protect the most useful
spontaneous species, as well as general
rules for plantation and maintenance are
suggested. Spontaneous wooden species of
low water requirements, to use in different
landscape objectives, are recommended.Fil: Codina, Ramón A..

Observation of a resonant four-body interaction in cold cesium Rydberg atoms
Cold Rydberg atoms subject to long-range dipole-dipole interactions represent
a particularly interesting system for exploring few-body interactions and
probing the transition from 2-body physics to the many-body regime. In this
work we report the direct observation of a resonant 4-body Rydberg interaction.
We exploit the occurrence of an accidental quasi-coincidence of a 2-body and a
4-body resonant Stark-tuned Forster process in cesium to observe a resonant
energy transfer requiring the simultaneous interaction of at least four
neighboring atoms. These results are relevant for the implementation of quantum
gates with Rydberg atoms and for further studies of many-body physics.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
Simbol-X Background Minimization: Mirror Spacecraft Passive Shielding Trade-Off Study
The present work shows a quantitative trade-off analysis of the Simbol-X
Mirror Spacecraft (MSC) passive shielding, in the phase space of the various
parameters: mass budget, dimension, geometry, and composition. A simplified
physical (and geometrical) model of the sky screen, implemented by means of a
GEANT4 simulation, has been developed to perform a performance-driven mass
optimization and evaluate the residual background level on Simbol-X focal
plane.Comment: 3 pages, 6 figures, to appear in the proceedings of the second

Micropropagation of Glandularia, native genus with ornamental potencial
En este trabajo se estableció un protocolo
de propagación in vitro de tres especies
nativas del género Glandularia: G. peruviana,
G. sp. y G. laciniata.
In this work there was established a protocol

sp. and G. laciniata. Macro and micronutrients
half strength Murashige Skoog (MS) media
added with BAP 0.05 μM alone or in combination
with TDZ 0.1 μM were tested in the
establishment stage. Half and quarter strength
MS media with 20 or 40 g.L-1 of sucrose were
assayed at multiplication stage. It is possible to
establish and to micropropagate these species
in simple culturing media. The most efficient
media for establishment stage was that one
without growth regulators, whereas the most
suitable for the multiplication it was MS ½
with 20 g.L-1 of sucrose, where the multiplication
rate every 30 days were 6 for G. sp and
G. peruviana and 4 for G. laciniata.Fil: Ponce, María T..

Diagnosis of centrocestus formosanus infection in zebrafish (Danio rerio) in Italy: A window to a new globalization-derived invasive microorganism
Centrocestus formosanus is a digenetic trematode with a complex life cycle, involving invertebrate and vertebrate hosts, humans included. In particular, it causes gill lesions and mortality in freshwater fish species, and gastrointestinal symptoms in infected humans. Here, we describe the occurrence of C. formosanus infection in zebrafish imported in Italy and propose a newly designed species-specific primer pair to ameliorate the diagnostic investigations for C. formosanus. Gill arches of 30 zebrafish were examined for the presence of encysted metacercariae under a stereomicroscope and processed through molecular analyses targeting the ribosomal internal transcribed sequence 2 (ITS2). Although C. formosanus distribution was originally restricted to Asia, it has been subsequently reported in new countries, revealing itself as an invasive species and raising important concerns for biodiversity, economy, scientific research, as well as animal and public health. Given the crucial role played by the ornamental fish industry in spreading this parasite, there is an urgent need for control measures to prevent the introduction and establishment of C. formosanus in non-endemic areas, including Europe. We also suggest developing new strategies in microbiology and epidemiology to better explore this new globalization-derived invasive species
Assays to determine the proper season to practice agamic propagation in ornamental grasses : : Mendoza (Argentina)
especies estivales y otoño o primavera temprana
sinensis "Variegatus", Miscanthus sinensis
"Zebrinus", Miscanthus sinensis "Morning Light",
Paspalum haumanii, Leymus arenarius, Pennisetum
y M. sinensis "Zebrinus". En el caso de M. sinensis
"Morning Light", P. setaceum, T. crinita, P. haumanii y
Division of clumps is the largest used technique
of vegetative propagation spread with great success
among the grasses. When it comes to commercial
production of ornamental grasses, it is important to
know the season that this practice is done to get
plants of the best quality in the shortest possible time.
According to some authors, division is usually best
done when grasses are in active growth: late spring
for the summer species and autumn or early spring
for the winter ones.
In this assay, the aim was to study the influence
of the season in the division of Miscanthus
sinensis "Variegatus", M. sinensis "Zebrinus", M.
sinensis "Morning Light", Paspalum haumanii,
Leymus arenarius, Pennisetum setaceum and Trichloris
crinita in December and February, it was also
evaluated the ornamental condition and precocity
of plants obtained in autumn and into late spring
with commercial purposes.The variables considered
were: vegetative height, canopy diameter, and
crown diameter, number of canes and percentage
of survival.
From commercial and productive point of
view, it is advisable to realize the division in autumn
to obtain precociousness only in M. sinensis
"Variegatus" and in M. sinensis "Zebrinus". In the
case of M. sinensis "Morning Light", P. setaceum,
T. crinita, P. haumanii and Leymus is more appropriate
spring division.Fil: Fioretti, Sonia B..
