Pricing after the IBOR era
The main objective of this thesis is to explore the theoretical foundations for interest rate
swaps pricing and valuation. For the swaps, there are two types of underlying interest
rates on which we will look upon: underlying interest rates with some fixed maturity (for
example, the 6-month EURIBOR), and underlying overnight interest rates, which are set
on a daily basis (as, for instance, the secured overnight financial rate). The pricing of
these swaps will rely heavily on both the risk-neutral measure, Q, and on the forward
measure, Qt, which will be defined later. After completing the theory of pricing interest
rate swaps, we will test the pricing accuracy of EUSA mid swap quotes with resource to
A avaliação destes swaps
The epididymis as a target of endocrine disruption: a metabolic perspective
Male fertility depends on the output of spermatogenic processe, as well as on the maturation events occurring during sperm passage throughout the epididymis. Epididymis plays an important role in storage of sperm, and also increasing their concentration and providing immunological and oxidative stress protection. In order to perform its functions, the epididymis depends on glucose metabolism as energy source, and also contributes by its secretory activity to establish the composition of the epididymal fluid. Recently, it was demonstrated that several energy pathways are active in this organ, namely glycolysis, and several metabolites like pyruvate are detected in the epididymal fluid. Also, the epididymal milieu has been shown to be rich in lipids, a class of macromolecules that plays a crucial role in the structure of sperm membrane influencing fertilization capacity. The activity of the epididymis can be regulated by hormones, like androgens, that can also have an influence on its metabolism. Endocrine disruptors (EDCs) are exogenous compounds capable of perturbing the normal hormone signalling. The EDC vinclozolin (VNZ) acts as anti-androgen and has been shown to affect male reproduction. However, the effect of VNZ in the epididymis, namely in the deregulation of metabolism is largely unknown. The present dissertation investigates the impact of VNZ exposure in the rat epididymis glycolytic and lipidic metabolism. For this purpose, caput epididymis sections were cultured ex vivo in the presence or absence of VNZ 500 µM. Glucose consumption, lactate production, and the expression and activity of glycolytic and lipid metabolism regulators were evaluated by spectrophotometric assays and Western blot analysis. The results obtained showed that VNZ increased glucose consumption in the caput epididymis, whereas decreasing lactate production. Also, VNZ activated both fatty acid biosynthesis and degradation. These findings first demonstrated that VNZ disrupts glycolytic and lipid metabolism in the epididymis and highlight for the impact that this and others EDCs may have affecting sperm quality and male fertility.
Identifying Early Developmental Profiles in Children with FXS: A Retrospective Home Videos Analysis
One of the major difficulties concerning Fragile X Syndrome has been early diagnosis enabling early intervention. The obstacle stems from the dismissal of signs that might raise suspicion that the syndrome is present and therefore subsequent diagnosis. The present research aims to validate a methodology employing retrospective home video analysis to explore possible early signs in children with Fragile X Syndrome. As part of this trial the videos of 6 children aged less than 30 months were analysed. We utilized a set formed by three behavioural analysis grids, mainly to analyse social attention, joint attention and sensory-motor development of said children. The retrospective home video analysis demonstrated its effectiveness in early sign identification. We verified that children with FXS had a non-social stimuli preference (e.g., prolonged visual fixation on objects), had difficulties directing attention to social stimuli (e.g., attention and response to name calling), demonstrating impairments in joint attention, and displayed prolong and repetitive interaction with objects as well as positive affective expressions. Our findings indicated that children with FXS seem to be able to discriminate between social and non-social stimuli (e.g., vocalization to people) and presented stereotypes behavior from 0 up till 30 months. Use of home videos is a potentially important methodology in identification of early sign. Identified signs from this study may serve as markers for medical referral to genetic diagnosis
Supporting Defect Causal Analysis in Practice with Cross-Company Data on Causes of Requirements Engineering Problems
[Context] Defect Causal Analysis (DCA) represents an efficient practice to
improve software processes. While knowledge on cause-effect relations is
helpful to support DCA, collecting cause-effect data may require significant
effort and time. [Goal] We propose and evaluate a new DCA approach that uses
cross-company data to support the practical application of DCA. [Method] We
collected cross-company data on causes of requirements engineering problems
from 74 Brazilian organizations and built a Bayesian network. Our DCA approach
uses the diagnostic inference of the Bayesian network to support DCA sessions.
We evaluated our approach by applying a model for technology transfer to
industry and conducted three consecutive evaluations: (i) in academia, (ii)
with industry representatives of the Fraunhofer Project Center at UFBA, and
(iii) in an industrial case study at the Brazilian National Development Bank
(BNDES). [Results] We received positive feedback in all three evaluations and
the cross-company data was considered helpful for determining main causes.
[Conclusions] Our results strengthen our confidence in that supporting DCA with
cross-company data is promising and should be further investigated.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, accepted for the 39th International Conference

For centuries, town and country maintained a relation of dichotomy and complementarity,
but, because of industrial and technological progress, this dichotomy had faded way and the
complementary links were broken. The country, with less population and fewer labour,
affected in its economic and social structure, lost the ability to produce enough and highquality
food for town that, besides its social and environmental problems, has been seeking
for solutions inside itself to improve the quality of urban life, but never stopped to extend its
limits and to consume agricultural soil. We evolved from the traditional approach of urban /
rural into a global landscape: urban and rural get mixed, creating discontinuities needing to
be overcome. We believe urban agriculture, in its different implementation forms, is a way
to overcome them by allowing a landscape construction that will retrieve the elementary
processes of production, recreation and protection and, therefore, the lost complementarit
As
Braga is a millennial city with a dense history and has a toponymy with a very particular
structure and organization that accounts for its history, culture, and local identity. The streets,
squares, and other urban spaces of the city are named in honor of personalities belonging to
religion, historical events, significant features of the region, and cultural elements.
This master's project in Photography starts from the theme of contemporary
toponymies in the city of Braga and reflects on the relationship of photography with the
physical space of cities, aiming to analyze how the names of streets, squares, and other urban
spaces are structured and reflect the social, cultural, and political dynamics of the city. The
research was based on a qualitative approach, using documentary sources, a survey of the
population, and direct observation leading to a selection of streets. It is, on the one hand, a
reflection on the role of toponymies in the construction of the image of a city, and on the
other hand, how photography can function as a critical/documentary/artistic vehicle for
transmitting the characteristics and atmosphere of urban spaces, contributing to a better
understanding of toponymies.
In this essay, it is intended to develop a comprehensive and critical analysis of the
dynamics of urban spaces, highlighting the relationships between toponymies, identity,
photography, and memory in the construction of the urban landscape. In this way, it is evident
in this essay how much toponymy can or cannot be a factor of expression and collective
memory and local identity.
The practical component of the work is not limited to the photographic record of
certain streets, their structure or characteristics, but aims to immerse the viewer in a
multisensory experience, allowing them to feel and understand the city, not only through
words but through images and sounds.
The visual approach of the project includes a series of photographs of toponymic plates
and drone photographs, which capture the essence of each street, square, or chosen urban
space. These photographs, more than mere records, would be artistic interpretations that
reflect the atmosphere and memories associated with each toponymy. The project also includes small videos made from a drone that capture daily life,
movements, and human interactions in each space. This brings an additional layer of
understanding, showing how spaces are lived and experienced daily. The sound approach
includes sounds captured on each street that reflect its atmosphere: the murmur of
conversations, the sound of footsteps, birds, commercial activity, etc. The selected images and
sounds reinforce and illustrate the theoretical points discussed in the essay.
The final objective will be to create an interactive exhibition where visitors can explore
the images and sounds while reading excerpts from the theoretical essay referring to each
toponym. This will allow an immersive experience, where the public can emotionally connect
with the analysis provided.
The contrast between the old (the history behind the toponymy) and the new (the
current life of the city) can be a focal point for discussions and reflections, encouraging visitors
to think more deeply about the city they live in and how it has evolved.
The practical component has the potential to significantly enrich the viewer's
experience, making the theme of toponymies more tangible, emotive, and comprehensible.
By combining theory with a sensory experience, not only is knowledge transmitted, but it also
allows the public to emotionally connect with the stories and memories that Braga has to
offer

EVALUATION AND GROUPING OF SUGARCANE GENOTYPES IN AGREEMENT WITH THEIR PHYSIOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICSOTYPES
AbstractThe objective of this work was to evaluate physiological characteristics of sugar cane genotypes, as well as characterize them in groups according to their similarity, checking the ability of ecological adaptability of these genotypes. The work was performed in field conditions, being assessed ten sugarcane genotypes (RB855113, RB835486, RB867515, SP80-1816, RB72454, RB925345, RB855156, RB937570, RB947520 and RB925211) in a randomized block design with three repetitions. It were evaluated the stomatal gas flow rate (U - μ mol s-1), the concentration of under-stomatal CO2 (Ci - μmol mol-1), the photosynthetic rate (A - μmol m-2 s-1), the CO2 consumed (Δ C - μmol mol-1), the stomatal conductance (Gs - mol m-1 s-1), the temperature gradient between leaf and air (Δ T), and the transpiration rate (E - mol H2O m-2 s-1), being also calculated the water use efficiency (WUE - mol CO2 mol H2O-1) from the values of the amount of CO2 fixed by photosynthesis and amount of water transpirated. Both univariate and multivariate data analysis were made. The genotype SP80-1816 showed better water use efficiency, combined with low stomatal conductance and transpiratory rate. The cultivar RB855113 stood out by having high photosynthetic rate, and high consumption of CO2. The cultivar RB867515, in addition to showing high water use efficiency, also showed high photosynthetic rate. With respect to the multivariate analysis, the biotypes RB925345, RB925211, RB855156 and RB855113 are situated in different groups when compared to the others as to the physiological characteristics with respect to other genotypes with isolation in separate groups. Keywords: Saccharum spp. photosynthesis.
