Vicente Risco e a modernidade.
This work tries to demonstrate that a part of his narrative work, the acting by small stories Do caso que lle aconteceu ó doctor Alveiros, O lobo da xente and A trabe de ouro e a trabe de alquitrán, it was thought and written from a few premises unrationalits in that the dream, the fantasy, the myth, the legend, the tradition, the nature and the instinct were the true exit ramps to the most authentic an real thing. New data on an acephalous recipe of the Liber medicinalis Collegii Balliolensis: An Electuarium dia prassiu maio
The Liber medicinalis Collegii Balliolensis contains an acephalous recipe, whose title, medical
indications and some ingredients have disappeared. Its title also does not appear in the index
of chapters that precedes the book. The identification of two parallel recipes in Vatican manu-
scripts allows us to know that it is an Electuarium dia prassiu maior that forms a pair with
thefollowing recipe, which has thesametitle. Two conclusions can be drawn from this: 1) that
the two electuaries circulated together as part of the book from the beginning; 2) that the
acephalous recipe does not appear in the index of chapters because this index was added later,
when the recipe had already lost its initial half as a result of a transmission accident
Ophidians and summer heat: a necessary emendation in Pliny’s text (Nat. XXIX 71)
siega de la mies (messis).[Abstract] According to Pliny (Nat. XXIX 71), the snake is
not a poisonous animal, but could become one during
a specific period of time by influence of the
luna instigatus). The reading per mensem makes
no sense because the ophidians remain in lethargy
during winter. Therefore, per mensem cannot be
referring to just any month of the year. A passage
by Gargilius Martialis and a witness of the indirect
tradition of the Naturalis Historia support the correction
per messem. This way, the passage becomes
transparent and Pliny’s doctrine is consistent with
reality: snakes become poisonous in summertime,
at the time of harvest (messis).Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades; FFI2013-45690-
The article provides the first edition of an early mediaeval Ars medicinalis de animalibus preserved in three manuscripts, Sankt Gallen, Stiftsbibliothek, 217; London, British Library, Harley 4986; and Wien, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, 187. The edition is preceded by an introduction whose main points are the manuscript tradition, the sources and the transmission problems of the Latin text.
Two medical recipes, unpublished so far, attest new meanings for two words : purus, a, um, used as a qualifier for a person who performs an action all by himself (in other words, purus is employed here as a synonym of solus) ; and a novel use of purare, a verb known hitherto only from Festus, where, however, its meaning differs from that found in our recipe. The two passages, both from the early middle ages, are printed together with the sources they are based on, and this allows us to understand the meaning of the two words as precisely as possible.

Comparing Measures of Individual Differences in Performance of Conditional Reasoning
This work was presented at 10th EUROPEAN MEETING OF THE PSYCHOMETRIC SOCIETY, celebrated in Santiago de Compostela, Spain (15-18th July, 1997). This study examined the following issues: 1) The relation among different measures in psychometric ability tests (verbal comprehension and reasoning), computerised measure of comprehension skills and the subjects´ performance in a experimental task of conditional reasoning, 2) Whetehr or not good and por comprehenders sistematically differ in their performance in Wason´s selection task (Wason, 1966, 1968) and 3) The differential influence of rule content and instruction on the subjects´ performance in the selection task. 154 undergraduate students each completed three psychometric ability tests (DAT-VR, PMA-V and PMA-R), and a spanish versión of Gernsbacher´s Comprehension Battery. Subsequently each subject was given three problems corresponding to the content of the theree different rules (abstract content, thematic-premission and thematic-norm) and the instructions were also manipulated (verification/falsation vs. violation) (Valiña & cols., 1996). The results showed that: a) Performance in Wason´s selection task with abstract and thematic-permission content in terms of logical index is related to measures of the DAT-VR, b) In terms of differential analyses it was found that the logical index was considerably better in the higher reasoning-verbal group (DAT-VR) with abstract content and thematic-permission, but differences were not found in performance among good and por verbal comprehenders (PMA-V and Gernsbacher Comprehension Battery) or subjects with high and low scores in the PMA-R, and c) For he logical index and the matching index the principal effects of the content of the rule and the instructions were registere
