[EN] The process of writing a report about the captured data and the graphic documentation is an essential part of the study and intervention in built heritage. This is not only due to the need for describing the architectural form, but also to accurately measure the geometry, size and, especially, the formal alterations which may affect the building. In this regard, the laser and digital photogrammetric technology used in the data capture process has the following benefits: • It is an essential source of information when it comes to assessing structural deformation and all the pathologies that affect the building structures, thanks to the accuracy and endless possibilities of digitally processing the captured data. • By digitally processing the information we can build solid digital models, which allow us to elaborate intervention proposals and operating theories. The project carried out in La Merced Church, Panama, complemented and provided graphic and geometric support to the study on characterization and strength of materials performed by the experts from AIDICO (Construction Technology Institute, Valencia, Spain) about the structural condition of the building. The work also describes the methodology used on the geometric data capture, the resolution of the difficulties encountered during the process, as well as the development of virtual models of the temple’s structure and historical façade, which are reference documents for planning the construction project.[ES] En el proceso de estudio e intervención en el patrimonio edificado, la captura de datos y la documentación gráfica a redactar constituye un aspecto decisivo no solo por la necesidad de describir la forma arquitectónica, sino por cuantificar con precisión su geometría, dimensión y, de manera especial, las alteraciones formales que afectan al edificio. Preventive measures are a priority in those groups that perform intense physical efforts without physical preparation and that can also be overweight or obese. One of the groups that reflect these characteristics is the costaleros of the Holy Week of Andalusia, Spain. This paper aims to describe the effect of obesity on blood pressure. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 101 costaleros. The anthropometric measures were determined through segmental impedance. Cardiac recovery and anaerobic power were measured through the Ruffier–Dickson test and the Abalakov test, respectively. Blood pressure was measured when the individuals were at rest. The Kruskal–Wallis test was applied for of continuous parameters and the X2 test for dichotomous measures. Binary logistic regression models were used for the subsequent analysis with R-square and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves. The average population was 28 years of age, 173.7 cm tall, and 82.59 Kg weigh. The excess of body fat was 11.27 Kg and Body Mass Index was 27.33 Kg/m2. 72.3% showed abnormal blood pressure and 68.2% were overweight. 32.7% had a waist-hip ratio higher than 0.94. The probability of presenting abnormal blood pressure was higher among the subjects whose fat content was higher and muscle content was lower

Gestión de las empresas de servicios : Yield Management

    Get PDF

Statistical theory of phenotype abundance distributions: A test through exact enumeration of genotype spaces

    Get PDF
The evolutionary dynamics of molecular populations are strongly dependent on the structure of genotype spaces. The map between genotype and phenotype determines how easily genotype spaces can be navigated and the accessibility of evolutionary innovations. In particular, the size of neutral networks corresponding to specific phenotypes and its statistical counterpart, the distribution of phenotype abundance, have been studied through multiple computationally tractable genotype-phenotype maps. In this work, we test a theory that predicts the abundance of a phenotype and the corresponding asymptotic distribution (given the compositional variability of its genotypes) through the exact enumeration of several GP maps. Our theory predicts with high accuracy phenotype abundance, and our results show that, in navigable genotype spaces-characterised by the presence of large neutral networks- phenotype abundance converges to a log-normal distribution.K. A detailed chemistry model for transient hydrogen and carbon monoxide catalytic recombination on parallel flat Pt surfaces implemented in an integral code

A detailed chemistry model has been adapted and developed for surface chemistry, heat and mass transfer between H2/CO/air/steam/CO2 mixtures and vertical parallel Pt-coated surfaces. This model is based onto a simplified Deutschmann reaction scheme for methane surface combustion and the analysis by Elenbaas for buoyancy-induced heat transfer between parallel plates. Mass transfer is treated by the heat and mass transfer analogy. The proposed model is able to simulate the H2/CO recombination phenomena characteristic of parallel-plate Passive Autocatalytic Recombiners (PARs), which have been proposed and implemented as a promising hydrogen-control strategy in the safety of nuclear power stations or other industries. The transient model is able to approach the warm-up phase of the PAR and its shut-down as well as the dynamic changes within the surrounding atmosphere. The model has been implemented within the MELCOR code and assessed against results of the Battelle Model Containment tests of the Zx series. Results show accurate predictions and a better performance than traditional methods in integral codes, i.e., empirical correlations, which are also much case-specific. Influence of CO present in the mixture on the PAR performance is also addressed in this paper

Validation of a new methodological approach for the selection of wire-coil inserts in thermal equipment

The use of wire-coils is especially relevant at low Reynolds numbers (below the critical number to turbulent flow in smooth tubes) according to its inherent positive features such as the advance of transition onset and, if they present suitable geometric characteristics, the establishment of an extended transitional flow in a critical Reynolds number interval [ReCL − ReCT ], with a predictable friction coefficient and Nusselt number. This paper presents the experimental validation of a new methodology based on the evaluation of a non-dimensional geometry-based parameter: the TSP (Transition Shape Parameter) that allows to predict the friction coefficient evolution with wire-coil inserts and enables to compute the extension of the transitional flow region. The close relationship between hydraulic and thermal performance of wire-coil inserts makes this methodology a valuable tool for selecting the most appropriate wire-coil geometry for a given tubular heat exchanger. It is observed that to promote an increase in heat transfer, the value of the ReCL of the wire coil must be less than the operating Reynolds number range of the equipment. Thus, the ReCL − ReCT interval of the insert should fall into this range. In order to validate the methodological approach, an application to harp-type solar thermal collectors with typical Reynolds number range [40–6000] is presented. Four representative wire-coils, with a wide geometrical range characterized by TSP values of 759, 196, 35.3 and 3.1 (exhibiting significant differentiated behaviours in their friction factor curves and critical Reynolds numbers) were inserted inside the risers of a modified solar collector and experimentally tested at laboratory conditions. Static temperature at different locations at the absorber plate, and pressure drop were measured to obtain friction factor and Nusselt number inside riser covering the laminar, transitional and low-turbulent regions. For a general application with friction factor constraints the most suitable wire-coil geometry is the TSPW02 = 196 with a range of critical Reynolds number of ReCL = 663 and ReCT = 2286 and Nuw02/Nus = 2.21 for Re = [300 − 3000] with f w02/fs = 3, 82. However, for the case study presented (a harp-type solar collector) it is feasible to insert the third wire-coil geometry TSPW03 = 35.3 due to its early transition, with a range of critical Reynolds number of ReCL = 364 and ReCT = 2324, and Nuw/Nus = 1.35 for Re = 300 with a high friction factor augmentation f w03/fs = 18.84. This geometry also promotes the highest absorber temperature reduction. The greatest temperature reduction is observed in the range of Reynolds numbers [700–2000], reaching approximately 6 ◦C, which represents approximately 15 %The authors gratefully acknowledge to European Regional Development Fund and Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación - Agencia Estatal de Investigación for the financial support of the project ALTES: “Active Latent Thermal Energy Storage”, Ref. Li-Po Battery Charger Based on the Constant Current/Voltage Parallel Resonant Converter Operating in ZVS

    Get PDF
Battery requirements for electrical vehicles are continuously becoming more demanding in terms of energy density and reliability. Nowadays, batteries for drones must be able to supply 100 A for 15 min, not to mention the specifications required for batteries in electrical vehicles. These specifications result in more stringent specifications for battery chargers. They are required to be more efficient, flexible, and, as with any another power equipment, to have reduced size and weight. Since the parallel resonant converter can operate as a current source and as a voltage source, this paper presents a battery charger power stage for lithium ion polymer batteries, based on the above topology, operating in zero voltage switching mode, and implementing frequency and duty cycle control

Study of antitumor activity in breast cell lines using silver nanoparticles produced by yeast

    Get PDF
In the present article, we describe a study of antitumor activity in breast cell lines using silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) synthesized by a microbiological method. These Ag NPs were tested for their antitumor activity against MCF7 and T47D cancer cells and MCF10-A normal breast cell line. We analyzed cell viability, apoptosis induction, and endocytosis activity of those cell lines and we observed that the effects of the biosynthesized Ag NPs were directly related with the endocytosis activity. Moreover, Ag NPs had higher inhibition efficacy in tumor lines than in normal lines of breast cells, which is due to the higher endocytic activity of tumor cells compared to normal cells. In this way, we demonstrate that biosynthesized Ag NPs can be an alternative for the treatment of tumors.Support from Universidad Nacional de San Luis, to the Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica, from Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) (Argentina), and from GENYO, Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research: Pfizer-University of Granada, Andalusian Regional Government, Granada, Spain are acknowledged
