Broadening of HO rotational lines by collision with He atoms at low temperature
We report pressure broadening coefficients for the 21 electric-dipole
transitions between the eight lowest rotational levels of ortho-HO and
para-HO molecules by collisions with He at temperatures from 20 to 120 K.
These coefficients are derived from recently published experimental
state-to-state rate coefficients for HO:He inelastic collisions, plus an
elastic contribution from close coupling calculations. The resulting
coefficients are compared to the available experimental data. Mostly due to the
elastic contribution, the pressure broadening coefficients differ much from
line to line, and increase markedly at low temperature. The present results are
meant as a guide for future experiments and astrophysical observations.Comment: 2 figures, 2 table

Photophysical Characterization of Isoguanine in a Prebiotic-Like Environment
It is intriguing how a mixture of organic molecules
survived the prebiotic UV fluxes and evolved into the actual
genetic building blocks. Scientists are trying to shed light on
this issue by synthesizing nucleic acid monomers and their
analogues under prebiotic Era-like conditions and by exploring their excited state dynamics. To further add to this
important body of knowledge, this study discloses new
insights into the photophysical properties of protonated
isoguanine, an isomorph of guanine, using steady-state and
femtosecond broadband transient absorption spectroscopies, and quantum mechanical calculations. Protonated isoguanine
decays in ultrafast time scales following 292 nm excitation,
consistently with the barrierless paths connecting the bright
S1 (ππ*) state with different internal conversion funnels.
Complementary calculations for neutral isoguanine predict
similar photophysical properties. These results demonstrate
that protonated isoguanine can be considered photostable in
contrast to protonated guanine, which exhibits 40-fold longer
excited state lifetimesThe authors acknowledge funding from the National Science

Genomic Evolution of Two Acinetobacter baumannii Clinical Strains from ST-2 Clones Isolated in 2000 and 2010 (ST-2_clon_2000 and ST-2_clon_2010)
Acinetobacter baumannii is a successful nosocomial pathogen due to its ability to persist in hospital environments by acquiring
mobile elements such as transposons, plasmids, and phages. In this study, we compared two genomes of A. baumannii clinical
strains isolated in 2000 (ST-2_clon_2000) and 2010 (ST-2_clon_2010) from GenBank project PRJNA308422
Loop level constraints on Seesaw neutrino mixing
Journal of High Energy Physics 2015.10 (2015): 130 reproduced by permission of Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA)We perform a detailed study of the importance of loop corrections when deriving bounds on heavy-active neutrino mixing in the context of general Seesaw mechanisms with extra heavy right-handed neutrinos. We find that, for low-scale Seesaws with an approximate B − L symmetry characterized by electroweak scale Majorana masses and large Yukawas, loop corrections could indeed become relevant in a small part of the parameter space. Previous results in the literature showed that a partial cancellation between these important loop corrections and the tree level contributions could relax some constraints and lead to qualitatively different results upon their inclusion. However, we find that this cancellation can only take place in presence of large violations of the B −L symmetry, that lead to acceptably large contributions to the light neutrino masses at loop level. Thus, when we restrict our analysis of the key observables to an approximate B − L symmetry so as to recover the correct values for neutrino masses, we always find loop corrections to be negligible in the regions of the parameter space preferred by dataWe are happy to acknowledge very illuminating discussions with Mattias Blennow, Belen

Accompanied child irregular migrants who arrive to Spain in small boats: experiences and health needs
The European Union is the preferred destination of child irregular migrants arrived from northern Africa, who risk their lives crossing the Mediterranean Sea in small boats. Accompanied Child Irregular Migrants (AChIMs) are exposed to physical and psychological risk. The objective of our study is to describe and understand the experiences and health needs of AChIMs who arrive to Spain in small boats, through the testimony of adults who accompany them on the journey. A qualitative study, based on Gadamer's hermeneutic phenomenology, was performed. After obtaining approval from the Ethics and Research Committee, we conducted in-depth interviews on 32 adults who travelled with AChIMs. Two main themes emerged: (1) The journey a child should never have to take, with the subthemes 'AChIMs as a paradigm of vulnerability' and 'Crossing the sea, playing with death' and (2) Characterising emergency care to AChIMs, with the subthemes 'Prioritising specific care', 'Identifying high-risk situations' and 'The detaining of innocent children'. AChIMs, along with adults, risk their lives in such a dangerous and perilous journey, therefore, finding out about their experiences may contribute to improving the treatment of their specific health needs during the phases of rescue and emergency care
Study through Geant4, for Time Resolution characterization of different detectors arrays coupled with two SiPMs, as a function of: the scintillator plastic material, its volumetric dimensions and the location of the radiation emission source
The high time resolution detectors are relevant in those experiments or simulations were the particles to detect, have a very short time of flight (TOF), and due this it´s required that the detections times are ranged between ns. & ps.Using Geant4 software, it was made thirty simulations of coupled detectors to plastic scintillators with two silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) located on the scintillator’s central sides. To characterize the time resolution, it was required to quantify the optical photons that reach the Score in a certain time, which are generated by muons on the surface of the plastic scintillator. Different configurations of muon beams were simulated at energy of 1 GeV, to interact with the configuration of the scintillator material of its corresponding arrangement. The simulations were made varying three parameters: the scintillator material “BC404 & BC422”, its size, and the location of the radiation source. Fifteen simulations correspond to BC404 material & fifteen simulations to BC422 material respectively. The first five simulations consisted in varying the scintillator’s volumetric size and collocate the muons beam guided randomly distributed over it, the next five simulations differentiate from setting up a directly centered beam, and the last five simulations for guide the beam on the left lower corner of each scintillator. The best time resolution achieved was σ= 8.67 +/− 0.26 ps., reported by the detector with BC422 scintillator material which has a volume of 20x20x3 mm3
