EFFECTS OF LOUVERS SHADING DEVICES ON VISUAL COMFORT AND ENERGY DEMAND OF AN OFFICE BUILDING. A CASE OF STUDY
This paper evaluates the building energy demand and visual comfort of a real case
with a glazed façade office building placed in Málaga (Mediterranean city in the south of
Spain). South oriented facades receive such a high solar gain that cooling demand cannot
be handled by the current HVAC system. As an environmental friendly solution, a shading
control strategy based on vertical and horizontal louvers is proposed.
The study consists of a comparison between the actual and the refurbished building
with shading devices. Daylighting simulation is done with Daysim (Daysim, 2016). A
group of offices with south, east and north oriented facades is chosen for the study. Horizontal
louvers in the south façade and vertical louvers in the east facade are modelled
and simulated. The simulation changes the angle of the louver: 0º (perpendicular to the
glazing), -30º, 30º, -60º, 60º. Visual comfort parameters analyzed are: illuminance, daylight
autonomy (DA) and useful daylight index (UDI). With respect to the thermal comfort,
not only louvers orientation try to provide solar protection for glazed areas in cooling
period but also maximize solar gains in heating period. However, an excessive daylight
could affect discomfort glare. Shading control strategy must provide the equilibrium

A case of acute plastic deformation of the forearm in a medieval Hispano-Mudejar skeleton (13-14th Centuries AD)
9 p.Introduction: Acute plastic deformation refers to a traumatic bending or bowing without a detectable cortical defect.Case Presentation and Discussion: We describe a rare case from an individual that was exhumed from the HispanoMudejar necropolis in Uceda (Guadalajara, Spain) dated between the 13th and 14th centuries AD. The case corresponds to an adult woman, with a bowing involvement of the left ulna and radius. After making the differential diagnosis with various pathologies likely to present with this alteration, we reached the diagnosis of acute plastic deformation of the forearm through external and radiological examination and comparison with the healthy contralateral forearm. Conclusions: Acute plastic deformation is a rare traumatic injury, not described until the last century and only rarely described in palaeopathological contexts. We contribute a new case, the first being sufficiently documented, contributing to the knowledge and diagnosis of this type of trauma in the ancient bone, while deepening the knowledge of the living conditions of the medieval Mudejar population of Uceda.Banco de SantanderUniversidad Complutense de Madri
Energyplus simulation model of a zoning regulation system intgegrated with an unitary ducted air-to-air heat pump
En los edificios se pueden distinguir una variedad de zonas con diferentes patrones de utilización y perfiles de cargas térmicas. Los sistemas de climatización zonificados permiten adaptarse a las diferentes demandas térmicas de cada espacio y no climatizar aquellos que no estén siendo utilizados. Recientemente, con el aumento de la disponibilidad de velocidades de ventilador de los principales fabricantes de unidades de expansión directa de pequeña y mediana potencia para conductos, se han desarrollado sistemas que se basan en lo que se denomina una “pasarela de comunicación”, que permite una mayor integración del sistema de zonas con el equipo de climatización, controlando aspectos tales como el encendido y apagado, modo de funcionamiento, velocidad del ventilador, temperatura de consigna del equipo, etc. Este trabajo presenta el desarrollo de un nuevo modelo computacional que integra estos sistemas en el programa de simulación energética EnergyPlusUniversidad de Málaga. Xeno-estrogenic activity of real-life mixtures of perfluoroalkylated substances in human placenta homogenates

Rodriguez-Carrillo (FPU 16/03011) .Humans are simultaneously exposed to complex chemical mixtures, and its combined effect can affect human health. As part of the HBM4EU project, the actual mixture of perfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS) in 25 human placenta samples was extracted by chromatographic methods and assessed for xeno-estrogenic activity using two in-vitro bioassays: the estrogen receptor transactivity and the E-Screen assay. Most of the PFAS extracts displayed xeno-estrogenic activity, in one or both assays. The xeno-estrogenic activities in the two bioassays were not correlated, but both assays showed an overall negative correlation with placenta concentrations of single PFAS. Xeno-estrogenic activities were significantly related to maternal characteristics; being higher in young, smokers and primiparous women, but not with fetal growth (birth weight, birth length, head circumference, gestational age, placenta weight). Cooperative learning of requirements engineering through an international educational scenario enabled by the MOY programme
The International Excellence Campus for Higher Education and Research of the Region of Murcia, and the Mediterranean Office for Youth (MOY) programme are new initiatives that offer opportunities for designing educational activities in which can take part international students enrolled in academic degrees at different universities. Besides, a significant rise in distributed and collaborative software development has been observed in recent years (Global Software Development, GSD), which involves space, time and socio-cultural distances and requires new techniques, tools and practices to meet new challenges and opportunities. In addition, poor requirements are one of the most common causes of project failure in any domain. Projects which devote more resources to Requirements Engineering (RE) result in lower costs and lower deviations of their planning. Therefore, the relevance of education and training the future systems and software professionals in RE activities and techniques, in particular in GSD environments, must be stressed. We have conducted an educational innovation activity based on teaching RE in co-located and GSD contexts. This activity has been carried out in the form of an experiment with students. This paper presents the scenario in which this educational activity is framed as well as some preliminary results of this experiment

assistance of Birgitte Møller Plesning.Humans are simultaneously exposed to complex mixtures of chemicals with limited knowledge on potential health effects, therefore improved tools for assessing these mixtures are needed. As part of the Human Bio-monitoring for Europe (HBM4EU) Project, we aimed to examine the combined biological activity of chemical mixtures extracted from human placentas using one in vivo and four in vitro bioassays, also known as biomarkers of combined effect. Relevant endocrine activities (proliferative and/or reporter gene assays) and four endpoints were tested: the estrogen receptor (ER), androgen receptor (AR), and aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) activities, as well as thyroid hormone (TH) signaling. Correlations among bioassays and their functional shapes were evaluated. Results showed that all placental extracts agonized or antagonized at least three of the above-mentioned endpoints. Most placentas induced ER-mediated transactivation and ER-dependent cell proliferation, together with a strong inhibition of TH signaling and the AR transactivity; while the induction of the AhR was found in only one placental extract. The effects in the two estrogenic bioassays were positively and significantly correlated and the AR-antagonism activity showed a positive borderline-significant correlation with both es-trogenic bioassay activities. However, the in vivo anti-thyroid activities of placental extracts were not correlated with any of the tested in vitro assays. Findings highlight the importance of comprehensively mapping the bio-logical effects of ?real-world? chemical mixtures present in human samples, through a battery of in vitro and in vivo bioassays. This approach should be a complementary tool for epidemiological studies to further elucidate the combined biological fingerprint triggered by chemical mixtures.European Commission

Design and Development of a Mobile App for Accessible Beach Tourism Information for People with Disabilities
The global increase in the proportion of the population with disabilities has caused a greater awareness toward guaranteeing their use of public services. In particular, there is emphasis on the accessibility and inclusivity of tourism resources, to improve the enjoyment and well-being for people with motor disabilities. This paper presents a case study on accessibility to beaches in the Region of Murcia, Spain, which is one of the main tourist areas in the country. First, the most important elements that allow for the accessible use of beaches are analyzed and exposed in detail. Then, an extensive field-work in the area of interest has been carried out and its results are evaluated. Finally, the development of a new mobile app is described. The objective of this tool is to provide updated, accurate, and reliable accessibility information regarding the beaches. As a result, more than a third of the beaches analyzed had a high level of accessibility, while almost another third are totally inaccessible. The proposed application is a valuable tool, not only to help people with physical and motor disabilities, but also to raise awareness among local authorities to create and improve accessible services.This work was supported by the Spanish MICINN, as well as European Commission FEDER funds, under grants RTI2018-098156-B-C53 and RTI2018-098309-B-C33.

The role of experience, perceived match importance, and anxiety on cortisol response in an official esports competition
The aim of the present study was to analyse the neuroendocrine stress response, psychological anxiety response, and perceived match importance (PMI) between expert and non-expert control gamers in an official competitive context. We analyzed, in 25 expert esports players and 20 control participants, modifications in their somatic anxiety, cognitive anxiety, self-confidence, PMI, and cortisol in a League of Legends competition. We found how expert esports players presented higher cortisol concentrations (Z = 155.5; p = 0.03; Cohen’s d = −0.66), cognitive anxiety (Z = 99.5; p = 0.001), and PMI (Z = 50.5; p < 0.001) before the competition than non-experts participants. We found a greater statistical weight in the cognitive variables than in the physiological ones. The results obtained suggest that real competitive context and player’s expertise were factors associated with an anticipatory stress response. The PMI proved to be a differentiating variable between both groups, highlighting the necessity to include subjective variables that contrast objective measurements
