Esencialismo, normativismo, posmodernismo: las interpretaciones sobre la etnicidad en la Arqueología española

    Get PDF
This article presents a diachronic view of the ways in which Spanish Archaeology has approached the study of past ethnicity and consequently the image this has created of the peninsular “peoples”. To this end we begin with a review of the precedents contained in the historiography of the Early Modern Period which will be followed by a look at the initial phases of the discipline, the introduction of the cultural-historical method of the German School and the influence of the Franco regime. In the final section we will examine the approaches used since the beginning of the 1980s as well as the public interest and debate this issue has created as a result of the development of the Autonomous Communities

Laboratorios virtuales de redes: sí, inténtelo en casa

    Get PDF
Usually, the practical tasks regarding the design and configuration of network topologies require expensive infrastructures for laboratories with shared resources (routers, switches) which limit the number of students that can manage them simultaneously. However, new trends and possibilities in virtualization allow professors to explore new ways to develop and practice with complex network topologies in a cheaper way. This paper reviews the existing approaches in virtualization to teach subjects focused on networking, and argues what are the solutions planned at the University of Málaga, with focus on on-line and distance learning activities.Peer Reviewe

Influence of the Surface Viscosity on the Breakup of a Surfactant-Laden Drop

    Get PDF
We examine both theoretically and experimentally the breakup of a pendant drop loaded with an insoluble surfactant. The experiments show that a significant amount of surfactant is trapped in the resulting satellite droplet. This result contradicts previous theoretical predictions, where the effects of surface tension variation were limited to solutocapillarity and Marangoni stresses. We solve numerically the hydrodynamic equations, including not only those effects but also those of surface shear and dilatational viscosities. We show that surface viscosities play a critical role to explain the accumulation of surfactant in the satellite droplet.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad DPI2013-46485-C3-1-R, TRA2013- 45808-RJunta de Extremadura GR1004

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for a periodic hill’s equation with parametric dependence and singularities

    Get PDF
We deal with the existence and multiplicity of solutions for the periodic boundary value problem positive parameter. The function f : is allowed to be singular, and the related Green’s function is nonnegative and can vanish at some points. This work was partially supported by FEDER and Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia, Spain, project no. Influence of emotional intelligence on performance in an emotionally Laden Cognitive Task: an ERP Study.

    Get PDF
A higher level of emotional intelligence (EI), understood as a greater ability to perceive, use, understand, and manage emotions, is associated with an increase in performance on emotionally laden cognitive tasks. The main objective of this research was to study the neural basis underlying the execution of an emotional cognitive control task (GoNogo) as a function of ability EI. Forty-four participants were divided into two groups depending on EI level (High EI vs. Low EI). The participants’ task consisted of an emotional face GoNogo task, in which happy, fear and neutral facial expressions were the go and no go stimulus. Results showed a larger N170 and smaller N2 amplitude for the low EI group than for the high EI one. Greater levels of cognitive control were associated to participants with high EI. Our findings show the importance of studying emotion and cognition interaction to explain our behavior and performance. Bioimpedance real-time charazterization of neointimal tissue inside stents

    Get PDF
It is hereby presented a new approach to monitor restenosis in arteries fitted with a stent during an angioplasty. The growth of neointimal tissue is followed up by measuring its bioimpedance with Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Besides, a mathematical model is derived to analytically describe the neointima’s histological composition from its bioimpedance. The model is validated by finite-element analysis (FEA) with COMSOL Multiphysics®. Satisfactory correlation between the analytical model and the FEA simulation is achieved for most of the characterization range, detecting some deviations introduced by the thin "double layer" that separates the neointima and the blood. It is shown how to apply conformal transformations to obtain bioimpedance models for stack-layered tissues over coplanar electrodes. Particularly, this is applied to characterize the neointima in real-time. This technique is either suitable as a main mechanism of restenosis follow-up or it can be combined with proposed blood-pressure-measuring intelligent stents to auto-calibrate the sensibility loss caused by the adherence of the tissue on the micro-electro-mechanical sensors (MEMS).Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (Spain): projects TEC2013-46242-C3-1-PMinisterio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (Spain): projects TEC2013-46242-C3-2-

How do the revised National Accounts affect the interpretation of how the Spanish economy has fared since the pandemic?

    Get PDF
Rationale The revision to the Annual and Quarterly National Accounts figures by the National Statistics Institute in September was more extensive than in previous years and has altered the interpretation of some aspects of Spanish economic developments since the pandemic. Takeaways •The new figures entail upward revisions to GDP of 0.2 percentage points (pp) in 2020, 0.9 pp in 2021 and 0.3 pp in 2022. The Spanish economy therefore recovered its pre-pandemic level in 2022 Q3 (rather than in spring 2023, as per the previous information), one year later than the euro area overall. The main factors underlying these revisions are, on the demand side, the greater domestic demand momentum and, on the supply side, the greater strength of services. •The new time series signal that productivity has fared somewhat better, tax revenues have been more consistent with macroeconomic developments, household expenditure has been more dynamic, in keeping with the improvement in real labour income, and unit labour costs have increased more than previously estimated, rising in Spain more than in the euro area overall since 2019, which could ultimately impact Spanish firms’ competitiveness
