Does Lost Time Cost You Money and Create High Risk?
The aim of the case study is to express the delayed repair time impact on the revenues and profit in numbers with the example of the outage of power plant units.
Main steps of risk assessment:
• creating project plan suitable for risk assessment
• identification of the risk factors for each project activities
• scenario-analysis based evaluation of risk factors
• selection of the critical risk factors based on the results of quantitative risk analysis
• formulating risk response actions for the critical risks
• running Monte-Carlo simulation [1] using the results of scenario-analysis
• building up a macro which creates the connection among the results of the risk assessment, the production plan and the business plan
Hungarian Gyerekestül versus Gyerekkel (‘with [the] kid’)
The paper analyzes the various uses of the Hungarian -stUl (‘together with’, ‘along
with’) sociative (associative) suffix (later in the paper referred to simply as “sociative”), as in
the example gyerekestül. As opposed to its comitative-instrumental suffix -vAl (‘with’), the -
stUl suffix cannot express instrumentality. The paper aims to demonstrate the difference in
use between the comitative-instrumental -vAl and the -stUl suffix in contemporary Hungarian,
and to illuminate the historical emergence of the suffix as well as its grammatical status. It is
argued on the basis of Antal (1960) and Kiefer (2003) that -stUl cannot be analyzed as an
inflectional case suffix (such as the -vAl suffix, or -ed, -ing, or the plural in English), but
should rather be categorized as a derivational suffix (such as English dis-, re-, in-, -ance, -
able, -ish, -like, etc.). The paper also tries to shed light on the hypothetical cognitive
psychological distinction between the comitative and the sociative. It is suggested that the
sociative is based on the amalgam image schema which is derived from the LINK schema of
the comitative. The ironical reading of the sociative is an implicature in the sense of Grice
(1989) and Sperber and Wilson (1987). Psycholinguistic experimentation is proposed to
follow up on the mental representation of the sociative
Integrált kockázatmenedzsment a gyakorlatban
szerzett tapasztalatokat felhasználva a módszert továbbfejlesztette. Ez a cikk a továbbfejlesztett módszer
újdonságait foglalja össze. A cikkben található egy esettanulmány is annak szemléltetésére, hogyan lehet az
általa kidolgozott megközelítéssel a kockázatokat felmérni és kezelni
Stability concepts and their applications
The stability is one of the most basic requirement for the numerical model, which is mostly elaborated for the linear problems. In this paper we analyze the stability notions for the nonlinear problems. We show that, in case of consistency, both the N-stability and K-stability notions guarantee the convergence. Moreover, by using the N-stability we prove the convergence of the centralized Crank-Nicolson-method for the periodic initial-value transport equation. The K-stability is applied for the investigation of the forward Euler method and the θ-method for the Cauchy problem with Lipschitzian right side. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved
Bidirectional and unidirectional comitative constructions in Hungarian: A psycholinguistic investigation at the interface of argument structure and semantics
This paper explores how bidirectional and unidirectional comitative constructions are processed at the level of argument structure. Bidirectional comitative constructions describe events where the two actors undergo the same effect described by the predicate (e.g., John was kissing with Mary), whereas unidirectional comitative constructions describe events in which one of the actors is the agent, and the other one is the patient (e.g., John was messing with Mary). In particular, we used the self-paced reading paradigm to determine if the two constructions access distinct mental representations. The findings suggest that distinct mental representations are activated automatically by bidirectional and unidirectional verbs during online language comprehension
Kognitív templátumok és a valóság illesztése környezeti hangokra utaló nyelvi megértés során
A dolgozat a környezeti hangok hatását vizsgálja az absztrakt és a konkrét nyelvmegértése során. Egyes mondatok, mint például A riporter beharangozta a hírt, olyan kifejezéseket tartalmaznak, amelyek egy specifikus környezeti hangra utalnak valós hangesemény hiányában. Két kísérletben a résztvevők hangot kódoló mondatokat olvastak számítógép képernyőjén, miközben négy különböző típusú hangingert hallottak: például A sajtó a vészharangot kongatta absztrakt mondat olvasása közben egy kongruens hangot (’harang’), egy inkongruens hangot (’dob’), egy kategórián kívüli hangot (’nevetés’) hallottak, vagy hang nélkül olvasták amondatokat. A két kísérlet eredményei
azt mutatják, hogy a hangeseményeket tartalmazó mondatok feldolgozása specifikus hangreprezentációk aktivációja nélkül történik
