La República de Venecia... (1617): «revenge» and parodical satyre of Boccalini’s Ragguagli di Parnaso.

This article is a portion of a bigger work which purposes to give an artistic revaluation to a kind of texts usually considered as para-literature. Hence, it intends to show, by the study of an anonimous Spanish libel structure and contents, its belonging to the «avvisi di Parnaso» genre, a type of literature easily useful both for seventeenth-century provenetians and pro-spanish, if handle with sharp parodical and satirical instruments

Imágenes de volcanes en la poesía de Quevedo: entre simbología, mitología y visiones paisajísticas

La producción poética quevediana —especialmente de tipo amoroso y laudatorio— muestra una evidente predilección del autor hacia la imagen del volcán en sus distintas variedades connotativas: simbólica, mitológica y de reevocación paisajística. El frecuente empleo de tal imagen (que en la poesía amorosa se relaciona casi sólo con la tópica antítesis petrarquista de nieve y fuego exasperada por la recurrente asociación al lexema venas, mientras que en los poemas encomiásticos es casi siempre el vehículo para la evocación del episodio mítico de la Gigantomaquia) y su amplificación expresiva encuentran su apropiada colocación en un contexto de experimentación poética que parece ajeno a la verdadera tradición petrarquista. Quevedo’s love and encomiastic poetry shows his interest in the employ of the volcano image in its symbolic, mythological and descriptive approaches. The frequent use of this image (usually associated with the snow-fire antithetical courteous topic in the love poetry and with the mythological giants defying the Olympus in the laudatory poetry) and its expressive amplification find their real placing in a poetic experimentation context detached from the true Petrarchist tradition

Studio archivistico genealogico di una famiglia portatrice di una nuova mutazione del gene PSEN2 (A85V)

Aim: Alzheimer disease (AD) hereditary is most often caused by mutations in the gene PSEN1 unlike the mutations in the PSEN2 gene which are rare. We describe an archival and genealogical research in Italian family with hereditary dementia associated with a novel mutation in the presenilin 2 gene’s disease. Methods: Clinical investigations of the diseased subjects; interviews with relatives; studies of medical records; pedigree analysis; and neuroradiologic, neuropathologic studies were carried out in the pedigree. Results: Genetic analysis showed a novel PSEN2 A85V mutation present in the proband and in all analyzed affected members, in a subject presenting with an amnesic mild cognitive impairment, and in a young, still asymptomatic subject. The proband showed a clinical phenotype indicative of Lewy body dementia and the neuropathologic examination demonstrated the presence of unusually abundant and widespread cortical Lewy bodies in addition to the hallmark lesions of AD. Other affected members exhibited a clinical phenotype typical of AD. Conclusion: Our findings add complexity to the spectrum of atypical phenotypes associated with presenilin mutations and should then be taken into account when considering the nosography of neurodegenerative diseases. They also support previous data that specific mutations of genes associated with familial Alzheimer disease may influence the presence and extent of Lewy bodies

This article aims at investigating and explaining the idea of frontier in one of the most important Spanish republican exile writers, Ramón J. Sender, as it comes out in the analysis of his "Relatos fronterizos" (1970). Our purpose is to prove that the frontier in a refugee author has mainly a negative meaning of separation boundary, barrier, fracture, whether you consider it from a real, geographical perspective or from a cultural, social and, even more, linguistic point of view

La recepción de los Sueños en las traducciones italianas de los siglos XVII-XVIII

El de la fortuna temprana de los Sueños de Quevedo en Italia es un terreno de estudio que se ha quedado lamentable e inexplicablemente a oscuras durante mucho tiempo. El presente trabajo pretende trazar un balance de la investigación llevada a cabo por la autora en este ámbito, fijando la atención tanto en el método y los medios empleados como en sus hitos principales. En este sentido, el rastreo minucioso de fondos de bibliotecas italianas e internacionales - que ha aportado relevantes resultados se ha acompañado, cuando necesario, con un trabajo de triple cotejo textual entre el original quevediano, la eventual versión francesa intermedia (a la que muy a menudo los traductores de entonces se referían) y la traducción italiana, permitiendo echar luz en una metodología traductiva hoy inusual pero muy practicada en tiempos antiguos.The early Italian fortune of Quevedo's Sueños is a field of study that has remained re-grettably and inexplicably in the dark for a long time. This article sets out to offer a reasoned analysis of Francisco de Quevedo’s “Vision” El algouacil endemoniado in a 1644 anonymous manuscript translation never known before and found by the author herself in the Museo Correr Library of Venice. To this end, she studies in a comparative way the text of the Algouacil in three different versions: the original Spanish text by Quevedo, the one by La Geneste first French translation, on which the Venetian “Vision” is based, and the anonymous Italian manuscript version

Al margen de la historia: "Pobreza no es vileza" de Lope de Vega entre amor y heroísmo

La presente contribución explora la relación entre el teatro español del Siglo de Oro y la historia contemporánea a partir del estudio de la comedia de Lope de Vega Pobreza no es vileza (1620-22). Perteneciente al ciclo teatral dedicado a la Guerra de Flandes, Pobreza no puede catalogarse como comedia “soldadesca” ni de “hechos famosos”, estando más bien centrada en las vicisitudes en temas de honor, amor y heroísmo del protagonista Mendoza, caballero disfrazado de soldado pobre. Sin embargo, reducir el conflicto hispano-holandés, en la obra, a un mero ‘telón de fondo’, como suele hacer la mayoría de los críticos, parece demasiado simplista y limitante. Por ello, pretendemos demostrar cómo, a pesar de su tono brioso y su trama hábilmente tejida en torno a la historia personal del protagonista, Pobreza no es vileza evidencia la misma intención elogiosa dirigida a realzar las grandes hazañas de España y sus héroes nacionales en Flandes que las restantes piezas de la serie, con la única diferencia que aquí Lope logra un perfecto equilibrio entre el drama histórico y la comedia ‘novelesca’
