The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of family control over the profit management in the listed companies on the Stock Exchange in Tehran. In this research, the profit management is considered as the dependent variable and the control of the company is considered as the independent variable. Dechow and Dichev and Kothari Models have been used to measure the profit management. In addition, a dummy variable is used to measure the company's control. The research population is the listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange and the sample consisted of 32 family firms that were selected using systematic elimination method. The research is from 2007 to 2012. Research hypotheses have been testedusing correlation method between variables and multiple regression equations through panel data method. The results suggest that family relations have a significant impact on the Board of Directors on profit management using Dechow and Dichev, and Kothari Models. Keywords: family firms, family control, family business, discretionary accruals, profit management practice

Abstract The development and spread of bacterial resistance to antimicrobial drugs necessitates the need to search for novel and effective antimicrobial agents. In the last few decades, innovative nanomaterials are attracting increasing attention and, among them, dendrimers have shown wide application in the various fields. In the current study, the two generations of an anionic linear- spherical nanodendrimer G1 and G2 were synthetized and compound G2 of nanodendrimer conjugated with erythromycin. The structures of the nanodendrimers were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, zetasizer, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The antibacterial activity of the erythromycin-conjugated nanodendrimer and erythromycin alone were evaluated by the microdilution method against Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis, S. saprophyticus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The size of first and second generation of nanodendrimer, and the erythromycin-conjugated nanodendrimer was 75, 95, and 65.6 nm, respectively. The drug loading percentage of the nanodendrimer conjugates was obtained to be in 35.2%. In our study, the erythromycin-conjugated nanodendrimer showed significantly more bacteriostatic and bactericidal activities against all four studied bacteria than erythromycin alone. Our study's results highlight that the erythromycin-conjugated nanodendrimer is a highly effective agent against Gram positive and negative bacteria. The antibacterial properties of erythromycin combined with the targeting potential of the nanodendrimer can lead to sustained intracellular delivery of therapeutic agent Keywords: Nanostructures Erythromycin Dendrimers Antibacterial agents

Successful Suicide in a Child: Depression-Related or Paroxetine-Induced?

Background: Children and adolescents are prone to develop psychiatric problems after stressful life events. These problems need appropriate treatment because of negative consequences like disease-related suicide. Antidepressants (especially "Serotonin Selective Reuptake Inhibitors") are common treatments for psychiatric problems of children and adolescents; but different side effects, including drug-induced suicide, have been reported.Case Report: In this article, we describe a nine-year-old girl who developed depression after parental divorce and was prescribed paroxetine. During pharmacotherapy, she had suicidal thoughts and several unsuccessful attempts which have been neglected and finally last attempt was successful. This report is an evidence for physicians to prescribe antidepressants cautiously with reasonable indication. As still there is no certain contraindication of using antidepressants in pediatric patients, importance of follow-ups and screening of suicide in pediatric patients during treatment with antidepressants seems essential. Conclusion: This study discloses the magnitude of explaining the side effects of antidepressants to caregivers of children with psychiatric problems

Adjunctive use of essential oils following scaling and root planing: a randomized clinical trial

Background: Hitherto no study has been published on the effect of the adjunctive administration of essential oils following scaling and root planing (SRP). This study describes the effect of a mouthrinse consisting of essential oils (Cymbopogon flexuosus, Thymus zygis and Rosmarinus officinalis) following SRP by clinical and microbiological variables in patients with generalized moderate chronic periodontitis. Methods: Forty-six patients (aged 40–65 years) with moderate chronic periodontitis were randomized in a double-blind study and rinsed their oral cavity following SRP with an essential oil mouthrinse (n = 23) or placebo (n = 23) for 14 days. Probing depth (PD), attachment level (AL), bleeding on probing (BOP) and modified sulcus bleeding index (SBI) were recorded at baseline and after 3 and 6 months. Subgingival plaque was taken for assessment of major bacteria associated with periodontitis. Results: AL, PD, BOP and SBI were significantly improved in both groups after three (p < 0.001) and 6 months (p ≤ 0.015). AL improved significantly better in the test than in the control group after 3 and 6 months (p < 0.001), so did PD after three months in the tendency (p = 0.1). BOP improved better in the test group after 3 months (p = 0.065). Numbers of Treponema denticola (p = 0.044) and Fusobacterium nucleatum (p = 0.029) decreased more in the test than in the control group after 3 months, those of Tannerella forsythia after 6 months (p = 0.039). Prevotella micra (p < 0.001,p = 0.035) and Campylobacter rectus (p = 0.002,p = 0.012) decreased significantly in both groups after 3 months. Conclusions: The adjunctive use of a mouthrinse containing essential oils following SRP has a positive effect on clinical variables and on bacterial levels in the subgingival biofilm
