The abundance and ubiquity of graphs (e.g., Online Social Networks such as Google+ and Facebook; bibliographic graphs such as DBLP) necessitates the effective and efficient search over them. Given a set of keywords that can identify a Data Subject (DS), a recently proposed relational keyword search paradigm produces, as a query result, a set of Object Summaries (OSs). An OS is a tree structure rooted at the DS node (i.e., a tuple containing the keywords) with surrounding nodes that summarize all data held on the graph about the DS. OS snippets, denoted as size-l OSs, have also been investigated. Size-l OSs are partial OSs containing l nodes such that the summation of their importance scores results in the maximum possible total score. However, the set of nodes that maximize the total importance score may result in an uninformative size-l OSs, as very important nodes may be repeated in it, dominating other representative information. In view of this limitation, in this paper we investigate the effective and efficient generation of two novel types of OS snippets, i.e. diverse and proportional size-l OSs, denoted as DSize-l and PSize-l OSs. Namely, apart from the importance of each node, we also consider its frequency in the OS and its repetitions in the snippets. We conduct an extensive evaluation on two real graphs (DBLP and Google+). We verify effectiveness by collecting user feedback, e.g. by asking DBLP authors (i.e. the DSs themselves) to evaluate our results. In addition, we verify the efficiency of our algorithms and evaluate the quality of the snippets that they produce.postprin

Modern challenges to the legal examination regulations

The article is devoted to the consideration of problems of legal expert examination of legal acts. One of the criteria for the effectiveness of a normative legal act as a basic element of legislation is its legal correctness. The dramatic changes that have taken place in Ukraine in recent years have significantly increased the role of legal means and mechanisms in the social and political life of the country. The effectiveness of transformations in the country aimed at forming civil society and the rule of law, strengthening the law and order depends on the perfection of the existing legal acts, their projects and the adoption of correct and legally justified decisions. Ensuring compliance with this criterion avoids inconsistencies in legislation and, as a consequence, ensures the unity of legal space. That is why legal expertise is a full-fledged tool for ensuring legal correctness and overcoming rulemaking, which requires a comprehensive analysis and comprehensive examination of the essence of legal expertise in the mechanism of legal regulation. The tasks that need to be addressed in the process of research on this issue can be attributed to: the study of the concept and features of legal expertise of draft normative legal acts, both in the legal literature, and the current and prospective legislation of Ukraine

In this thesis we study the selective hydrogenation of renewable levulinic acid (LA) into γ-valerolactone (GVL) catalyzed by water-dispersible platinum nanoparticles employing the nitrogen-containing stabilizer poly-4-vinylpyridine (P4VP) in aqueous media. The catalyst precursor Na2PtCl6·6H2O modified with P4VP (Mw=60000) at a molar ratio of P4VP/Pt=10, reaction temperature of 140oC, dihydrogen pressure of 50 bar, molar ratio of LA/Pt = 6000, with addition of 20 mL aqueous solvent, at a low platinum concentration of 41 ppm, a pH value of 2.48 and reaction time of 15 minutes exhibited the highest catalytic activity namely of TOF= 8290 h-1 with essentially quantitative selectivity towards GVL of 99.7 mol% with very low selectivity both to 1,4-pentanediol and valeric acid (Valeric Acid, VA) of 0.2 mol% and 0.1 mol%, respectively. Recycling experiments showed that the catalytic system Pt/P4VP (Mw=60000) is recoverable and recyclable with high stability even at a reaction temperature of 130oC. The first-hand experiments of the aqueous-phase catalytic hydrogenation of renewable furfural carried out with Na2PtCl6·6H2O/P4VP (Mw=60000) catalyst precursors disclosed a wide range of main products inter alia 1-pentanol, cyclopentanone and cyclopentanol at a pH value 2.34. In sharp contrast, at pH= 7.0 the selectivity of the hydrogenation reaction enormously increased to afford mainly furfuryl alcohol

Modeling lipid accumulation in oleaginous fungi in chemostat cultures. II: Validation of the chemostat model using yeast culture data from literature

    Get PDF
A model that predicts cell growth, lipid accumulation and substrate consumption of oleaginous fungi in chemostat cultures (Meeuwse et al. in Bioproc Biosyst Eng. doi:10.1007/s00449-011-0545-8, 2011) was validated using 12 published data sets for chemostat cultures of oleaginous yeasts and one published data set for a poly-hydroxyalkanoate accumulating bacterial species. The model could describe all data sets well with only minor modifications that do not affect the key assumptions, i.e. (1) oleaginous yeasts and fungi give the highest priority to C-source utilization for maintenance, second priority to growth and third priority to lipid accumulation, and (2) oleaginous yeasts and fungi have a growth rate independent maximum specific lipid production rate. The analysis of all data showed that the maximum specific lipid production rate is in most cases very close to the specific production rate of membrane and other functional lipids for cells growing at their maximum specific growth rate. The limiting factor suggested by Ykema et al. (in Biotechnol Bioeng 34:1268–1276, 1989), i.e. the maximum glucose uptake rate, did not give good predictions of the maximum lipid production rate

On Secure Workflow Decentralisation on the Internet

Decentralised workflow management systems are a new research area, where most work to-date has focused on the system's overall architecture. As little attention has been given to the security aspects in such systems, we follow a security driven approach, and consider, from the perspective of available security building blocks, how security can be implemented and what new opportunities are presented when empowering the decentralised environment with modern distributed security protocols. Our research is motivated by a more general question of how to combine the positive enablers that email exchange enjoys, with the general benefits of workflow systems, and more specifically with the benefits that can be introduced in a decentralised environment. This aims to equip email users with a set of tools to manage the semantics of a message exchange, contents, participants and their roles in the exchange in an environment that provides inherent assurances of security and privacy. This work is based on a survey of contemporary distributed security protocols, and considers how these protocols could be used in implementing a distributed workflow management system with decentralised control . We review a set of these protocols, focusing on the required message sequences in reviewing the protocols, and discuss how these security protocols provide the foundations for implementing core control-flow, data, and resource patterns in a distributed workflow environment
