Removal of multiple artifacts from ECG signal using cascaded multistage adaptive noise cancellers

Although cascaded multistage adaptive noise cancellers have been employed before by researchers for multiple artifact removal from the ElectroCardioGram (ECG) signal, they all used the same adaptive algorithm in all the cascaded multi-stages for adjusting the adaptive filter weights. In this paper, we propose a cascaded 4-stage adaptive noise canceller for the removal of four artifacts present in the ECG signal, viz. baseline wander, motion artifacts, muscle artifacts, and 60 Hz Power Line Interference (PLI). We have investigated the performance of eight adaptive algorithms, viz. Least Mean Square (LMS), Least Mean Fourth (LMF), Least Mean Mixed-Norm (LMMN), Sign Regressor Least Mean Square (SRLMS), Sign Error Least Mean Square (SELMS), Sign-Sign Least Mean Square (SSLMS), Sign Regressor Least Mean Fourth (SRLMF), and Sign Regressor Least Mean Mixed-Norm (SRLMMN) in terms of Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) improvement for removing the aforementioned four artifacts from the ECG signal. We employed the LMMN, LMF, LMMN, LMF algorithms in the proposed cascaded 4-stage adaptive noise canceller to remove the respective ECG artifacts as mentioned above. We succeeded in achieving an SNR improvement of 12.7319 dBs. The proposed cascaded 4-stage adaptive noise canceller employing the LMMN, LMF, LMMN, LMF algorithms outperforms those that employ the same algorithm in the four stages. One unique and powerful feature of our proposed cascaded 4-stage adaptive noise canceller is that it employs only those adaptive algorithms in the four stages, which are shown to be effective in removing the respective ECG artifacts as mentioned above. Such a scheme has not been investigated before in the literature

The mediating effect of market orientation on the relationship between total quality management, entrepreneurial orientation and the performance of banks in Libya

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of Market Orientation (MO) on the relationship between total quality management (TQM), entrepreneurial orientation (EO), and organizational performance (OP). The motivation for this study was driven by the inconsistent findings in the literature concerning the relationships between TQM, EO, and organizational performance. Due to the inconsistent results, a new research has emerged and this has prompted further investigation on the effect of other variables that may better explain the nature of these links. In the related literature, many theories have suggested that the compatibility between strategies, resources, and capabilities as the keys for success. To achieve this purpose, this study has integrated different theories such as the resource-based view, and the Congruence Model . Questionnaires were distributed to 400 Sections of the Libyan banks. 230 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis using the PLSSEM. The results of this study revealed that TQM, and EO were positive and have also been proven to be significant predictors of organizational performance. PERENCANAAN UNIT PELIPAT KERTAS PADA RANCANG BANGUN ALAT PENGEPRES KERTAS FILTER UDARA MOBIL TIPE CYCLONE

Seiring perkembangan teknologi kendaraan dan semakin buruknya kualitas udara di kota–kota kebutuhan alat filterasi dengan kualitas bagus semakin dibutuhkan. Untuk itu diperlukan bahan filter udara yang bagus sehingga proses penyaringan polusi dapat dilakukan dengan baik, tetapi juga tidak membuat performa mesin menurun. Perencanaan rancang bangun ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara kerja dari unit pelipat pada rancang bangun alat pengepres kertas filter udara mobil tipe cyclone dan berapa dimensi dari kertas filter yang sudah di pres dengan variasi tekanan yang berbeda. Perencanaan rancang bangun ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Bahan yang digunakan adalah kertas filter udara yang masih belum terbentuk. Alat yang digunakan untuk penelitian adalah mesin pres hidrolik.Dalam perencaan unit pelipat kertas menggunakan spesifikasi plat berukuran panjang 230 mm, lebar 120 mm dengan ketebalan plat 10 mm, dan dengan menggunakan tekanan dongkrak hidrolik berkapasitas 2 ton. Hasil yang didapatkan dari pengujian ke 1 hingga pengujian ke 4 yaitu semakin besar tekanan dari dongkrak hidrolik maka ukuran panjang dari kertas filter udara yang dipres akan semakin kecil dan ukuran tinggi semakin membesar karena dorongan antar sirip unit pelipat semakin dalam

Channeling assessments in English language learning via interactive online platforms

Technology adoption in classrooms has impacted the way educational practitioners conduct assessments. Online quizzes are preferred compared to paper-pencil based tests. However, very few information that explains the contribution of online assessment towards holistic attainment of students in English. The present study aimed at examining the effects of online assessments on students’ performance. This research employed a quasi-experimental study to evaluate the role of interactive online assessments toward students’ performance in English. Eighty-six undergraduate students in TESL participated in this study; 53 were randomly assigned to the online group while 33 were assigned to the control group. The research computed t-tests to compare the performance of both groups on five different assessments. The results revealed that the online assessment group performed better on four assessments tested—listening and reading skills. The control group performed significantly higher on the assessment that involved presentation (evaluated speaking skill). These findings indicate that online assessments enhance students’ mastery of listening, reading, and writing skill but rather not so much influence on verbal skills. This research implies that educational practitioners should not entirely rely on interactive online platforms. To incorporate the blended-learning approach, classroom activities must consist of a combination of online and offline strategies

Pengaruh Penambahan Sari Temulawak (Curcuma Xanthorrhiza) Terhadap Total Fenol, Kadar Garam, Kadar Lemak Dan Tekstur Telur Asin

The purpose of this research were to analyze the best Curcuma xanthorrhiza juice on salted egg. The method used in this research was experimental research using completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The curcuma juice were divided into P0 (0%), P1 (25%), P2 (50%) and P3 (75%). The variables observed in this research were total phenol, salt content, fat content and texture. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The analysis was continued by Honestly Significant Difference Test if there were significant differences among variables. The results showed that the addition of curcuma juice did not significantly affect (p>0.05) the total phenol and texture. The result showed that the addition of curcuma juice gave highly significant difference (p≤0.01) on salt content and had significant difference effect (p≤0.05) on fat content. The best treatment was the addition of curcuma juice 75% which provided 0.125% of total phenol, 1.31% of salt, 36.98% of fat and 7.05 N of texture. The addition of curcuma juice could reduce the level of salt content and fat content, but did not affect the total phenol and texture

Ketahanan Kredit Perbankan Syariah terhadap Krisis Keuangan Global

Global financial market becomes fragile and unstable today after big financial crisis (subprime mortgage) hited almost country around the world. Recently, solvability ratio or credit risk becomes focus study again by economic expertise to prevent repreated crisis. The purpose of this paper is to investigate Islamic credit resistant of Islamic banks during global financial crisis in Indonesia. The results of this study show that the amount of Islamic financing and GDP were significantly determined by non-performing financing (NPF). In the other side, conventional banks were influenced positively by inflation rate and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR). These findings show the empirical evidence how Islamic banking and economic systems can reduce the effect of global financial crisis significantly to domestic society

ANALISIS DAMPAK PEMBANGUNAN TERAS CIHAMPELAS TERHADAP BISNIS SEKTOR FORMAL DAN PEDESTRIAN

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul “ANALISIS DAMPAK PEMBANGUNAN TERAS CIHAMPELAS TERHADAP BISNIS SEKTOR FORMAL DAN PEDESTRIAN”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dampak kebijakan pembangunan infrastruktur public berupa Teras Cihampelas terhadap pedagang formal dan kemacetan lalulintas di kawasan perdagangan jalan Cihampelas dari sisi pedagang dan masyarakat yang dilihat dari sisi persepsi para pedagang dan persepsi masyarakat mengenai kepuasan kondisi kawasan yang baru. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu analisis deskriptif yang didukung oleh analisis kuantitatif. Metode deskriptif digunakan dengan tujuan untuk memberikan penjelasan dalam menjawab rumusan masalah yaitu bagaimana dampak kebijakan relokasi pedagang kaki lima yang dirasakan oleh para pedagang formal kawasan Cihampelas dan Masyarakat sekitar, apakah kebijakan yang diambil oleh pemerintah daerah memberikan dampak positif dan sudah berjalan sesuai dengan ketentuan atau belum serta bagaimana persepsi masyarakat beraktivitas melalui jalan Cihampelas mengenai kenyamanan dan kemacetan kawasan. Metode analisis kuantitatif menggunakan uji beda bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kondisi para pedagang formal sebelum dan sesudah pembangunan Teras Cihampelas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya pembangunan Teras Cimapelas memberikan beberapa dampak terhadap kondisi kawasan perdagangan jalan Cihampelas. Pedagang dan masyarakat pun merasa cukup puas dengan kondisi kawasan perdagangan Cihampelas saat ini. Namun hal ini belum diikuti oleh perubahan dampak yang di hasilkan terhadap kemacetan lalulintas. Gog and Magog (Yakjuj wa Makjuj) Stories in Sundanese Manuscripts

Gog and Magog will appear in the end of the world as a sign of doom. Their mysterious figure, making the story Gog and Magog interesting as well as a debate among experts. This study aims to reveal the reception of the Sundanese to the story of Gog and Magog which is represented by three Sundanese texts: Saifu Ad-Dharīb (SaD), Lajaj Dajal (LD), and Nawādirul 'Ulūm (NU). This study used a descriptive qualitative method with the reception theory approach. Of the three manuscripts, there are a diversity reception informing the advantages and disadvantages of each manuscript. The reception of who is Magog, LD's text calls them communist descendants. Regarding its existence, the SaD manuscripts say they are on Mount Qaf. Related to their numbers, the three manuscripts mention the numbers very much; SaD mentioned they have 400,000 troops, and each of them gave birth to 1000 offspring. NU's manuscripts reveal all objects will be destroyed and humans will become their prey. SaD's manuscripts mention their deaths due to massive winds; LD manuscripts say they died from being attacked by thousands of mosquitoes, while NU manuscripts say they died of disease

Investigation of multi-phase tubular permanent magnet linear generator for wave energy converters

In this article, an investigation into different magnetization topologies for a long stator tubular permanent magnet linear generator is performed through a comparison based on the cogging force disturbance, the power output, and the cost of the raw materials of the machines. The results obtained from finite element analysis simulation are compared with an existing linear generator described in [1]. To ensure accurate results, the generator developed in [1] is built with 3D CAD and simulated using the finite-element method, and the obtained results are verified with the source.The PRIMaRE project
