    Get PDF
6th EUCHEMS Chemistry Congress. Seville, Spain, 11th-19 th September 2016This report describes the leaching experiments to recover Zn from spent household Zn-C and alkaline batteries. Basic zinc carbonate Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6 nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized by the leaching of an ammoniacal ammonium carbonate solution of black mass. Zinc oxide (ZnO) were prepared by the thermal decomposition of basic zinc carbonate precursor. The synthesis of ZnO micro and nanostructures is carried out through the vapor solid growth process.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad MINECO (Projects MAT 2012-31959 and CSD2009-00013) and MINECO/FEDER (MAT2015-65274-R; 2016-2019). El placer lateral de playa Mejías (noreste de Cuba Oriental): un ejemplo de interacción de procesos aluviales y marinos en la concentración de minerales de elementos preciosos

The playa Mejías lateral placer is the most important placer in Cuba. Its mineralogical composition (magnetite, chromite, rutile, ilmenite, orthopyroxene) reveals that the ophiolites of the Mayarí-Baracoa Belt are the main source area. However, other sources are demonstrated for by the presence of 4 different morphological types of zircon crystals, and minerals related to listvaenitic mineralizations (calcosilicates, carbonates). Also, precious metals have been recognized . Previous to their fluvial transport, electrum grains were depleted in gold in the lateritic environment, producing silve r-rich rims to the electrum grains. The gold particles were transported by rivers as fine-sized particles of electrum with various compositions, and as Au-amalgam. During their fluvial transport, the smaller gold grains coalesced to form larger grains, and a final generation of highly pure gold cemented the subgrains. Then, the particles were deposited in a beach lateral placer, where the grains were leached by sea water, giving rise to corrosion textures. The particles of EGP minerals found are grains of osmium-rich laurite replaced by laurite veins associated with symplectitic intergrowths of a third laurite generation (having intermediate compositions between the above laurite generation) and iridioarsenite, as a consequence of serpentinization at the source. Leaching by sea water produces a depletion in osmium in the particles

A Fuzzy Rule-Based System to Predict Energy Consumption of Genetic Programming Algorithms

    Get PDF
In recent years, the energy-awareness has become one of the most interesting areas in our environmentally conscious society. Algorithm designers have been part of this, particularly when dealing with networked devices and, mainly, when handheld ones are involved. Although studies in this area has increased, not many of them have focused on Evolutionary Algorithms. To the best of our knowledge, few attempts have been performed before for modeling their energy consumption considering different execution devices. In this work, we propose a fuzzy rulebased system to predict energy comsumption of a kind of Evolutionary Algorithm, Genetic Prohramming, given the device in wich it will be executed, its main parameters, and a measurement of the difficulty of the problem addressed. Experimental results performed show that the proposed model can predict energy consumption with very low error values. We acknowledge support from Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness under projects TIN2014-56494-C4-[1,2,3]-P and TIN2017-85727-C4- [2,4]-P, Regional Government of Extremadura, Department of Commerce and Economy, conceded by the European Regional Development Fund, a way to build Europe, under the project IB16035, and Junta de Extremadura FEDER, projects GR15068 and GR15130

Comparison of different methodologies for obtaining nickel nanoferrites

    Get PDF
Nickel nanoferrites were obtained by means of four different synthetic wet-routes: co-precipitation (CP), sonochemistry (SC), sonoelectrochemistry (SE) and electrochemistry (E). The influence of the synthesis method on the structural and magnetic properties of nickel ferrite nanoparticles is studied. Although similar experimental conditions such as temperature, pH and time of synthesis were used, a strong dependence of composition and microstructure on the synthesis procedure is found, as electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy studies reveal. Whereas by means of the CP and SC methods particles of a small size around 5–10 nm, respectively, and composed by different phases are obtained, the electrochemical routes (E and SE) allow obtaining monodisperse nanoparticles, with sizes ranging from 30 to 40 nm, and very close to stoichiometry. Magnetic characterization evidences a superparamagnetic behavior for samples obtained by CP and SC methods, whereas the electrochemical route leads to ferromagnetic ferrite nanoparticles

Very high resolution parametric echosounder (TOPAS) data interpretation obtained during CADHYS0713, INDEMARES/CHICA1011 and ARSA0313 cruises along the middle, external shelf and upper slope of the eastern Gulf of Cadiz between 50 and 400 m depth has allowed us the identification of several active tectonic structures acting since the Holocene. To date this activiy, it have been identified along the study area three postglacial discontinuities, Postglacial Trangressive Surface (TS) of 18 ky BP; the maximum flooding surface (MFS) of 6.5 ky; and the 3.5 ky Mid highstand deposits surface (MHS). Active normal and reverse faults have been identified whose recent activity is closely linked to the uplift episodes of salt diapirs structures from onshore to distal areas of the continental margin.Versión del edito

Necrotizing Sarcoid Granulomatosis: A Disease Not to be Forgotten

    Get PDF
Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease of unknown aetiology characterised by the appearance of noncaseifying epithelioid granulomas in the affected organs, most commonly the lungs, skin, and eyes (Iannuzzi et al. 2007). Necrotizing Sarcoid Granulomatosis (NGS) is a rare and little-known form of disease, which also presents nodular lung lesions, and it shares pathologic and clinical findings with sarcoidosis, where the presence of necrosis may lead to misdiagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), leading to a consequent delay in treatment of the underlying entity (Chong et al. 2015). ,is is exactly what happened with the two cases that we present here

The supersymmetric modified Poschl-Teller and delta-well potentials

    Get PDF
New supersymmetric partners of the modified Poschl-Teller and the Dirac's delta well potentials are constructed in closed form. The resulting one-parametric potentials are shown to be interrelated by a limiting process. The range of values of the parameters for which these potentials are free of singularities is exactly determined. The construction of higher order supersymmetric partner potentials is also investigated.Comment: 20 pages, LaTeX file, 4 eps figure

Non-Hermitian SUSY Hydrogen-like Hamiltonians with real spectra

    Get PDF
It is shown that the radial part of the Hydrogen Hamiltonian factorizes as the product of two not mutually adjoint first order differential operators plus a complex constant epsilon. The 1-susy approach is used to construct non-hermitian Hamiltonians with hydrogen spectra. Other non-hermitian Hamiltonians are shown to admit an extra `complex energy' at epsilon. New self-adjoint hydrogen-like Hamiltonians are also derived by using a 2-susy transformation with complex conjugate pairs epsilon, (c.c) epsilon.Comment: LaTeX2e file, 13 pages, 6 EPS figures. Deuteron NN*(1440) components from a chiral quark model

    Get PDF
We present a nonrelativistic coupled-channel calculation of the deuteron structure including Delta Delta and NN^*(1440) channels, besides the standard NN S and D-wave components. All the necessary building blocks to perform the calculation have been obtained from the same underlying quark model. The calculated NN^*(1440) probabilities find support in the explanation given to different deuteron reactions.Comment: 4 pages; revtex4, Accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. C (Brief Report
