    Constraining the Hadronic Contributions to the Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment

    The mini-proceedings of the Workshop on "Constraining the hadronic contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment" which included the "13th meeting of the Radio MonteCarLow WG" and the "Satellite meeting R-Measurements at BES-III" held in Trento from April 10th to 12th, 2013, are presented. This collaboration meeting aims to bring together the experimental e+e- collider communities from BaBar, Belle, BESIII, CMD2, KLOE, and SND, with theorists working in the fields of meson transitions form factors, hadronic contributions to (g-2)_\mu and effective fine structure constant, and development of Monte Carlo generator and Radiative Corrections for precision e+e- and tau physics.Comment: 45 pages, 17 contributions.     The nature of iron-oxygen vacancy defect centers in PbTiO3

    The iron(III) center in ferroelectric PbTiO3 together with an oxygen vacancy forms a charged defect associate, oriented along the crystallographic c-axis. Its microscopic structure has been analyzed in detail comparing results from a semi-empirical Newman superposition model analysis based on finestructure data and from calculations using density functional theory. Both methods give evidence for a substitution of Fe3+ for Ti4+ as an acceptor center. The position of the iron ion in the ferroelectric phase is found to be similar to the B-site in the paraelectric phase. Partial charge compensation is locally provided by a directly coordinated oxygen vacancy. Using high-resolution synchrotron powder diffraction, it was verified that lead titanate remains tetragonal down to 12 K, exhibiting a c/a-ratio of 1.0721.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, accepted in Phys.     Polymorphisms in the gene regions of the adaptor complex LAMTOR2/LAMTOR3 and their association with breast cancer risk.

    Background: The late endosomal LAMTOR complex serves as a convergence point for both the RAF/MEK/ERK and the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways. Interestingly, both of these signalling cascades play a significant role in the aetiology of breast cancer. Our aim was to address the possible role of genetic polymorphisms in LAMTOR2 and LAMTOR3 as genetic risk factors for breast cancer. Methodology/Results: We sequenced the exons and exon-intron boundaries of LAMTOR2 (p14) and LAMTOR3 (MP1) in 50 prospectively collected pairs of cancerous tissue and blood samples from breast cancer patients and compared their genetic variability. We found one single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in LAMTOR2 (rs7541) and two SNPs in LAMTOR3 (rs2298735 and rs148972953) in both tumour and blood samples, but no somatic mutations in cancerous tissues. In addition, we genotyped all three SNPs in 296 samples from the Risk Prediction of Breast Cancer Metastasis Study and found evidence of a genetic association between rs148972953 and oestrogen (ER) and progesterone receptor negative status (PR) (ER: OR = 3.60 (1.15-11.28); PR: OR = 4.27 (1.43-12.72)). However, when we additionally genotyped rs148972953 in the MARIE study including 2,715 breast cancer cases and 5,216 controls, we observed neither a difference in genotype frequencies between patients and controls nor was the SNP associated with ER or PR. Finally, all three SNPs were equally frequent in breast cancer samples and female participants (n = 640) of the population-based SAPHIR Study. Conclusions: The identified polymorphisms in LAMTOR2 and LAMTOR3 do not seem to play a relevant role in breast cancer. Our work does not exclude a role of other not yet identified SNPs or that the here annotated polymorphism may in fact play a relevant role in other diseases. Our results underscore the importance of replication in association studies

    Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure in e+e(DDˉ)±πe^+e^- \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp at s=4.26\sqrt{s}=4.26GeV

    We study the process e+e(DDˉ)±πe^+e^- \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp at a center-of-mass energy of 4.26GeV using a 827pb1^{-1} data sample obtained with the BESIII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. Based on a partial reconstruction technique, the Born cross section is measured to be (137±9±15)(137\pm9\pm15)pb. We observe a structure near the (DDˉ)±(D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} threshold in the π\pi^\mp recoil mass spectrum, which we denote as the Zc±(4025)Z^{\pm}_c(4025). The measured mass and width of the structure are (4026.3±2.6±3.7)(4026.3\pm2.6\pm3.7)MeV/c2^2 and (24.8±5.6±7.7)(24.8\pm5.6\pm7.7)MeV, respectively. Its production ratio σ(e+eZc±(4025)π(DDˉ)±π)σ(e+e(DDˉ)±π)\frac{\sigma(e^+e^-\to Z^{\pm}_c(4025)\pi^\mp \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp)}{\sigma(e^+e^-\to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp)} is determined to be 0.65±0.09±0.060.65\pm0.09\pm0.06.     Study of J/ψJ/\psi and ψ(3686)Σ(1385)0Σˉ(1385)0\psi(3686)\rightarrow\Sigma(1385)^{0}\bar\Sigma(1385)^{0} and Ξ0Ξˉ0\Xi^0\bar\Xi^{0}

    We study the decays of J/ψJ/\psi and ψ(3686)\psi(3686) to the final states Σ(1385)0Σˉ(1385)0\Sigma(1385)^{0}\bar\Sigma(1385)^{0} and Ξ0Ξˉ0\Xi^0\bar\Xi^{0} based on a single baryon tag method using data samples of (1310.6±7.0)×106(1310.6 \pm 7.0) \times 10^{6} J/ψJ/\psi and (447.9±2.9)×106(447.9 \pm 2.9) \times 10^{6} ψ(3686)\psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decays to Σ(1385)0Σˉ(1385)0\Sigma(1385)^{0}\bar\Sigma(1385)^{0} are observed for the first time. The measured branching fractions of J/ψJ/\psi and ψ(3686)Ξ0Ξˉ0\psi(3686)\rightarrow\Xi^0\bar\Xi^{0} are in good agreement with, and much more precise, than the previously published results. The angular parameters for these decays are also measured for the first time. The measured angular decay parameter for J/ψΣ(1385)0Σˉ(1385)0J/\psi\rightarrow\Sigma(1385)^{0}\bar\Sigma(1385)^{0}, α=0.64±0.03±0.10\alpha =-0.64 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.10, is found to be negative, different to the other decay processes in this measurement. In addition, the "12\% rule" and isospin symmetry in the J/ψJ/\psi and ψ(3686)ΞΞˉ\psi(3686)\rightarrow\Xi\bar\Xi and Σ(1385)Σˉ(1385)\Sigma(1385)\bar{\Sigma}(1385) systems are tested.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures.     Measurement of the e+eπ+π\mathrm e^+\mathrm e^-\rightarrow\mathrm\pi^+\mathrm\pi^- Cross Section between 600 and 900 MeV Using Initial State Radiation

    We extract the e+eπ+πe^+e^-\rightarrow \pi^+\pi^- cross section in the energy range between 600 and 900 MeV, exploiting the method of initial state radiation. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb1^{-1} taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider is used. The cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 0.9%. We extract the pion form factor Fπ2|F_\pi|^2 as well as the contribution of the measured cross section to the leading order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to (g2)μ(g-2)_\mu. We find this value to be aμππ,LO(600900  MeV)=(368.2±2.5stat±3.3sys)1010a_\mu^{\pi\pi,\rm LO}(600-900\;\rm MeV) = (368.2 \pm 2.5_{\rm stat} \pm 3.3_{\rm sys})\cdot 10^{-10}.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, accepted by PL

    Measurement of azimuthal asymmetries in inclusive charged dipion production in e+ee^+e^- annihilations at s\sqrt{s} = 3.65 GeV

    We present a measurement of the azimuthal asymmetries of two charged pions in the inclusive process e+eππXe^+e^-\rightarrow \pi\pi X based on a data set of 62 pb1\rm{pb}^{-1} at the center-of-mass energy s=3.65\sqrt{s}=3.65 GeV collected with the BESIII detector. These asymmetries can be attributed to the Collins fragmentation function. We observe a nonzero asymmetry, which increases with increasing pion momentum. As our energy scale is close to that of the existing semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering experimental data, the measured asymmetries are important inputs for the global analysis of extracting the quark transversity distribution inside the nucleon and are valuable to explore the energy evolution of the spin-dependent fragmentation function.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
