Correlation of white-tailed deer activity, distribution and behavior with climatic and other environmental factors
The objectives of this job were: (1) to document daily and seasonal patterns of distribution; (2) to examine the relationship of environmental variables to distribution patterns; (3) to document daily and seasonal activity patterns; (4) to examine the relationship of environmental variables to activity patterns; (5) to examine the nature of distribution and activity patterns in relation to physiological-psychological changes in the deer (as determined in other studies); (6) to observe activity and ranging of individuals and to relate these observations to general patterns; (7) to observe social behavior and to relate it to seasonal patterns; (8) to observe the response of deer to human disturbance and to relate changes in this response to seasonal patterns
Study of pesudoscalar transition form factors within light front quark model
We study the transition form factors of the pesudoscalar mesons (
and ) as functions of the momentum transfer within the
light-front quark model. We compare our results with the recent experimental
data by CELLO, CLEO, BaBar and Belle. By considering the possible uncertainties
from the quark masses, we illustrate that our predicted form factors can fit
with all the data, including those at the large regions.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.

Meson Decay Constants from the Valence Approximation to Lattice QCD
We evaluate , , , and , extrapolated to physical quark mass, zero
lattice spacing and infinite volume, for lattice QCD with Wilson quarks in the
valence (quenched) approximation. The predicted ratios differ from experiment
by amounts ranging from 12\% to 17\% equivalent to between 0.9 and 2.8 times
the corresponding statistical uncertainties.Comment: uufiles encoded copy of 40 page Latex article, including 14 figures

Holomorphic anomaly equations and the Igusa cusp form conjecture
Let be a K3 surface and let be an elliptic curve. We solve the
reduced Gromov-Witten theory of the Calabi-Yau threefold for all
curve classes which are primitive in the K3 factor. In particular, we deduce
the Igusa cusp form conjecture.
The proof relies on new results in the Gromov-Witten theory of elliptic
curves and K3 surfaces. We show the generating series of Gromov-Witten classes
of an elliptic curve are cycle-valued quasimodular forms and satisfy a
holomorphic anomaly equation. The quasimodularity generalizes a result by
Okounkov and Pandharipande, and the holomorphic anomaly equation proves a
conjecture of Milanov, Ruan and Shen. We further conjecture quasimodularity and
holomorphic anomaly equations for the cycle-valued Gromov-Witten theory of
every elliptic fibration with section. The conjecture generalizes the
holomorphic anomaly equations for ellliptic Calabi-Yau threefolds predicted by
Bershadsky, Cecotti, Ooguri, and Vafa. We show a modified conjecture holds
numerically for the reduced Gromov-Witten theory of K3 surfaces in primitive
classes.Comment: 68 page
Next to leading order eta production at hadron colliders
Inclusive eta production at hadron colliders is considered, based on
evaluation of eta fragmentation functions at next to leading order. Absolute
predictions at LHC and SSC are presented, including the ratio ,
together with the estimate of the theoretical uncertainty, as a possible
neutral background to the detection.Comment: 8 pages, latex, FNT/T-93/13,14 figures avilable upon reques
Ground State of the Quantum Symmetric Finite Size XXZ Spin Chain with Anisotropy Parameter
We find an analytic solution of the Bethe Ansatz equations (BAE) for the
special case of a finite XXZ spin chain with free boundary conditions and with
a complex surface field which provides for symmetry of the
Hamiltonian. More precisely, we find one nontrivial solution, corresponding to
the ground state of the system with anisotropy parameter
corresponding to .Comment: 6 page

Conformal Field Theories, Graphs and Quantum Algebras
This article reviews some recent progress in our understanding of the
structure of Rational Conformal Field Theories, based on ideas that originate
for a large part in the work of A. Ocneanu. The consistency conditions that
generalize modular invariance for a given RCFT in the presence of various types
of boundary conditions --open, twisted-- are encoded in a system of integer
multiplicities that form matrix representations of fusion-like algebras. These
multiplicities are also the combinatorial data that enable one to construct an
abstract ``quantum'' algebra, whose - and -symbols contain essential
information on the Operator Product Algebra of the RCFT and are part of a cell
system, subject to pentagonal identities. It looks quite plausible that the
classification of a wide class of RCFT amounts to a classification of ``Weak
- Hopf algebras''.Comment: 23 pages, 12 figures, LateX. To appear in MATHPHYS ODYSSEY 2001

Pay for Performance, Satisfaction and Retention in Longitudinal Crowdsourced Research
In the social and cognitive sciences, crowdsourcing provides up to half of all research participants. Despite this popularity, researchers typically do not conceptualize participants accurately, as gig-economy worker-participants. Applying theories of employee motivation and the psychological contract between employees and employers, we hypothesized that pay and pay raises would drive worker-participant satisfaction, performance, and retention in a longitudinal study. In an experiment hiring 359 Amazon Mechanical Turk Workers, we found that initial pay, relative increase of pay over time, and overall pay did not have substantial influence on subsequent performance. However, pay significantly predicted participants\u27 perceived choice, justice perceptions, and attrition. Given this, we conclude that worker-participants are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, having relatively low power to negotiate pay. Results of this study suggest that researchers wishing to crowdsource research participants using MTurk might not face practical dangers such as decreased performance as a result of lower pay, but they must recognize an ethical obligation to treat Workers fairly
