Evy Yunianti. 2008. English Teaching Activities in Accordance with Competency Based
Curriculum In the First Grade of SMP N 1 Tawangsari Sukoharjo. English Diploma
Program, Faculty of Letters and Fine Arts, UNS.
The Final Project is about the description of the teaching-learning method used by
the English teacher in the first grade of SMP N 1 Tawangsari Sukoharjo and the activities
done in accordance with competency based curriculum. The Local Government has had
the autonomy to organize the education curriculum independently. Therefore, every
school in a region should arrange their own education curriculum and competence. SMP
N 1 Tawangsari Sukoharjo has been practicing this new regulation by holding an English
teaching-learning process with Competency based Curriculum in the newest form KTSP
(Educational Unit Level Curriculum).
The writer did a Job Training to compose the final project in SMP N 1 Tawangsari.
The purpose is to report the method used and the English activities done in SMP N 1
Tawangsari. There are many methods which can be used by the teacher. The teacher in
this school has been already using the newest method, Competency Based Curriculum.
This final project describes the new method used and how the teacher practiced it.
The data was taken from the observation and interview in the school of SMP N 1
Tawangsari. Firstly, she observed the class and the activity there. Then, at the second
day, the writer was positioned as the teacher for class VII D, she must come there twice a
week to teach the student. She continued the topic in that semester and taught the student
by practicing the theory given in Diploma Program. The Job Training held from 6th
of
February until 15th
of March 2007. During the Job Training, the writer did also some
interview with the English teacher there and some librarians, and also the head of SMP N
1 Tawangsari. She also got the data from the information of an administration staff.
The Discussion of the data leads to the teaching-learning process held in SMP N 1
Tawangsari is starting to use the newest competency based curriculum based on UU No.

National standardizing. Then, in teaching a second language to the students, the teacher
should understand some points about the student’s characteristic generally; a teacher in
this competence is hoped as a controller and a facilitator who let the students explore

English daily community. Therefore, the solutions may be the school should obtain more
modern facilities such as some latest CDs, video, and native speaker. Then it will be
better when the teacher build an English atmosphere in and around the class by writing or

A literary work is a sign symbol and communication symbol which points the reader to
understand that a literary work represents an abstraction of various mechanismsbetween others which is possible to be happened. The major element of literary works is

Shifting gear in the study of the bilingual advantage : language switching examined as a possible moderator
The bilingual advantage is a heavily debated topic in research on bilingualism. The current study further investigated one specific aspect of bilingualism proposed to be a determining factor for the bilingual advantage, namely language switching behaviour. We investigated whether a bilingual advantage can be detected in the executive functions of inhibition and shifting by comparing monolingual and bilingual participants on a Simon task and a colour–shape switching task. Furthermore, we examined the relation between these executive functions and language switching proficiency, as measured by a semantic verbal fluency task. In addition, the current study set out to investigate the convergence of self-reported language switching estimates and actual language switching proficiency. Results revealed a bilingual advantage for shifting, but not for inhibition. However, this bilingual advantage for shifting was not related to language switching behaviour. Additionally, we were unable to identify a relation between objective and subjective measures of switching abilities. These findings seem to confirm the existence of a bilingual advantage, but also once again validate its elusiveness, as demonstrated by the absence of bilingual benefits on our measure of inhibition. It furthermore questions the validity of switching measures employed in previous studies
Public transaction cost of agri-environmental schemes and its determinants - Analysing stakeholders’ involvement and perceptions
Despite a total budget increase for rural development in the new programming period (2007- 2013), for most older Member States in the now expanded European Union the multi-annual spending plan for the period 2007-2013 predicts a substantial decrease of the budget for rural development and thus for agri-environmental schemes (AESs). It can be assumed that nothing or only part of this loss could be compensated by national funds in most countries. Therefore designing more efficient national governance structures for AESs, which decrease public transaction costs (TCs), would be an appropriate answer to this problem. The objective of this paper is to define the factors influencing these public TCs, because then appropriate action can be taken to reduce them. A statistical analysis with a proxy for public TCs is combined with an analysis of the perception on public TCs influencing factors of the stakeholders involved (not including farmers). The research showed that mainly scheme related factors are perceived to be important, although the governance structure, institutional environment and trust also play a role. High public TCs are however not necessarily a problem, if they would lead to a higher environmental effectiveness of the schemes. It is important to pay attention to the heterogeneity of the natural environment and on the basis of that decide for a more centralised or decentralised approach to AES design.Public transaction costs, agrienvironmental schemes, Environmental Economics and Policy,
