    Exploring Farmers' Decision in Utilizing Certified Palm Oil Seeds in Riau Province

    Riau Province is the largest center for smallholder palm oil plantations in Indonesia. The productivity of smallholder palm oil plantations is relatively lower compared to private and state plantations due to the low use of certified seeds. This study aims to describe the characteristics of smallholder oil palm businesses and analyze the decisions of smallholders in Riau Province regarding the use of certified oil palm seeds. This research utilized logistic regression analysis. The data used in this study were from the 2014 plantation business household survey conducted by BPS. The number of respondents was 1146 households. The results showed that the variable number of family members significantly negatively affected farmers' decisions to use certified oil seeds. On the other hand, the variables of age, education, capital, farmer groups, and partnership patterns positively influenced farmers' decisions to use certified oil seeds. Meanwhile, the variables of land area, type of land, assistance, and agricultural extension did not affect farmers' decisions to use certified palm oil seeds. Therefore, the decision of smallholders to use certified oil palm seeds is influenced by the number of dependents, age, education, capital, membership of farmer groups, and partnership patterns.     Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Mengelola Keuangan Rumah Tangga ini memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan, khususnya pada Ibu-Ibu Di Kecamatan Sagulung Kota Batam. Berdasarkan survei awal dari 20 responden diketahui bahwa tingkat literasi keuangan Ibu-Ibu di Kecamatan Sagulung Kota Batam masih rendah dan harus ditingkatkan. Sebanyak 10 orang belum melakukan pengelolaan keuangan dengan baik, 5 orang hanya mencatat pengeluaran keluarga saja, dan 5 orang mencatat pemasukan dan pengeluaran keuangan rumah tangga. Metode pengabdian dengan menggunakan penyuluhan dan analisis kualitatif. Hasil pengabdian, setelah dilakukan pre tes dan post tes, dari 100 peserta penyuluhan diperoleh hasil 55 peserta telah paham dalam mengelola keuangan rumah tangga, dapat melakukan perencanaan pengelolaan keuangan rumah tangga, dan melakukan pencatatan keuangan rumah tangga dengan baik

    The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of work performance on employee performance, to analyze the effect of incentives on employee performance, to analyze the effect of discipline on employee performance, to analyze the influence of leadership style on employee performance, and to analyze the effect of work performance, incentives, discipline, leadership style on employee performance. The population of this study were employees of PT. Austin Engineering Indonesia, amounting to 175 people in the store. The sample consisted of 175 respondents, who were taken with a saturated sampling method. Data analysis using multiple regression with SPSS. The results of this study can be concluded that work performance has a significant effect on employee performance, incentives have a significant effect on employee performance, discipline has a significant effect on employee performance, leadership style has a significant effect on employee performance.     Efisiensi Teknis Usaha Pembesaran Lobster di Pulau Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat

    One aquaculture commodity that has a high economic value and potential to be developed in Indonesia is lobster. Lombok Island is a considerable lobster-producing area that has a great potential for the future development. However, lobster farming in this island lacks in productivity due to the management factors. Therefore, to achieve a sustainable development, the lobster farming needs a number of efforts to improve its productivity and technical efficiency. This study aims to: (1) analyze the influencing factors to the production of lobster farming and (2) analyze the level of technical efficiency and affecting factors on the technical inefficiency of lobster farming. The primary data were collected through surveys of 106 lobster - farming households. The stochastic frontier production function with Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) method was used to analyze the efficiency of the cultivation system. The results suggested that most of the farmers are technically efficient with the average of the technical efficiency level of 0.91. The production inputs that have significant effects include the quantities of seed and feed and culture period. The technical inefficiency was influenced by the farmers’ age, experience, education and perceptions on sustainability of their farming.Keywords: technical efficiency, lobster farming, stochastic frontier production function, Cobb-Douglas, MLE</p

    DAMPAK SERTIFIKASI DAN KOMPETENSI TERHADAP KINERJA DOSEN TETAP YAYASAN DI KOTA BATAM

    Lecturer performance is an interesting topic to research, because lecturer performance is closely related to higher education performance, therefore lecturer performance must always be improved. This study aims to determine and analyze the impact of certification and competence partially or simultaneously. This type of research is quantitative research. The population of this research is 327 permanent lecturers of the Foundation who have been certified at a private university in Batam, with the sampling technique using a census. The research sample consisted of 327 lecturers, but after the questionnaires were distributed, only 250 lecturers were filled. Data were analyzed using Multiple Linear Regression with SPSS. The results of this study state that certification has a significant impact on lecturer performance, competence has a significant impact on lecturer performance, certification and competence has a significant impact on lecturer performance.Kinerja Dosen merupakan salah satu topik yang menarik untuk diteliti, karena kinerja dosen berkaitan erat dengan kinerja Perguruan Tinggi, oleh karena itu kinerja dosen harus selalu ditingkatkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis dampak sertifikasi dan kompetensi secara parsial maupun simultan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah Dosen Tetap Yayasan yang telah sertifikasi di Universitas Swasta di Batam berjumlah 327 dosen, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sensus. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 327 dosen, namun setelah kuisioner dibagikan yang mengisi hanya 250 dosen. Data dianalisis menggunakan Regresi Linier Berganda dengan SPSS.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh disiplin dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada PT. Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia  (Persero) Cabang Utama Klas Batam.  Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh dengan jumah responden 40 orang. Penelitian menggunakan metode analisis regresi linier berganda. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner yang disebar kepada responden. Hipotesis penelitian diuji menggunakan uji t dan uji F. Untuk mendapatkan estimator linear yang tidak bias yang terbaik maka terlebih dahulu dilakukan pengujian asumsi klasik serta uji validitas dan reliabilitas.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial variabel disiplin dan motivasi kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai   PT.Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) Cabang Utama Klas Batam. Secara simultan variabel disiplin dan motivasi kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai pada PT. Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) Cabang Utama Klas Batam. Variabel disiplin dan motivasi kerja mampu menjelaskan variabel kinerja karyawan sebesar 92.7% dan sisanya sebesar 7.3% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak dimasukkan dalam model penelitian ini
