Evaluation of social media posts for touristic places with artificial ıntelligence methods: the case of Artvin province
Today, as in many fields, social media is also used in tourism. This produce a large amount
of data which is also called big data. These data contain useful information for both tourism
consumers and tourism managers. However, the fact that social media posts contain
different types of data makes it difficult to analyze these data and to obtain meaningful
information from the data. Methods beyond traditional data analysis approaches are needed
for this knowledge discovery process. This study, it is aimed to determine the mood on the
comments and photos shared by the tourists on social media about the places they visited.
For mood detection, a support vector machines algorithm was used on text data and
convolutional neural networks were used on photographic data. As a result of the analyzes
carried out, the emotional states of the visitors who visited the application area of the study,
the change of their moods according to time, the subjects they were satisfied and dissatisfied
were determined, and the findings were verified by associating them with external data such
as road and weather conditions. Sentiment analysis, subject modeling analysis, trend
analysis and correlation analysis were used for analysis. With the study, an evaluation
approach was presented to tourism business managers and policy developers as well as an
exemplary stud
Effects Of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation In Patients With Peripheral And Central Neuropathic Pain
Objective: To evaluate and compare the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy on pain intensity and functional capacity in patients with either peripheral neuropathic pain or central neuropathic pain. Methods: A total of 40 patients (20 with peripheral neuropathic pain and 20 with central neuropathic pain) were included in this study. Pain severity, pain quality, and functional capacity were assessed with a visual analogue scale, a neuropathic pain scale, and the Brief Pain Inventory, respectively. A pre-post-treatment design was used. Semmes Weinstein monofilaments were used to evaluate touch sensation. Mild pressure was applied to provoke static mechanical allodynia. The presence of any severe and sharp pains upon pricking was considered a positive sign for hyperalgesia. The 2 groups of patients received 20/30-min sessions of TENS therapy over 4 weeks. Results: No significant differences were found between the 2 groups regarding the pre-treatment values for visual analogue scale, neuropathic pain scale, and Brief Pain Inventory. The pain parameters in both groups were significantly decreased by TENS therapy for 4 weeks (p<0.05). The group with peripheral neuropathic pain presented more overall improvements than the group with central neuropathic pain (p<0.05). Conclusion: TENS therapy can be used successfully in clinical practice as an alternative or supportive treatment.WoSScopu
An unusual case in surgical emergency: Abdominal cocoon and its laparoscopic management
Small bowel obstruction associated with abdominal cocoon (AC) is a rarely encountered surgical emergency. This condition is characterised by a thick fibrous membrane which encases the small bowel partially or completely. It is usually difficult to be able to make a definitive diagnosis in the presence of obscure clinical and radiological findings. Diagnosis is usually made at laparotomy when the encasement of the small bowel within a cocoon-like sac is visualised. Here, we report on a 29-year-old male patient who presented with acute small bowel obstruction and was eventually diagnosed with AC at laparoscopy. In this case, laparoscopic excision of the fibrous sac and extensive adhesiolysis resulted in complete recovery. Although rare, the diagnosis of AC should be kept in cases of patients with intestinal obstruction combined with relevant imaging findings. Laparoscopy should also be considered for the management of this condition in suitable patients
Objective And Subjective Assessment Of Physical Activity In Adults With Muscle Diseases
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the physical activity of adults with muscle diseases relative to healthy controls. Materials and Methods: Individuals participated in this cross-sectional study by completing the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Long Form and using SenseWear Armband Activity Monitor over a 5-day period to assess physical activity levels subjectively and objectively. Results: Forty healthy controls (16 males, 24 females) (aged 30.40 +/- 4.55 years) and 40 adults with muscle diseases (21 males, 19 females) (aged 32.67 +/- 6.57 years) participated in this study. We found that SenseWear Armband (step counts, duration of moderate and vigorous physical activity) and International Physical Activity Questionnaire (walking physical activity, vigorous physical activity, working physical activity, and total physical activity) parameters were significantly lower in the adults with muscle disease group than the healthy controls (p0.05). Conclusion: Adults with muscle diseases expend the same amount of energy as healthy controls, but over fewer steps. This difference between energy expenditure and number of steps could be due to the higher energy requirements for walking in adults with muscle diseases. These findings will help healthcare professionals plan treatment strategies for adults with muscle diseases.WoSScopu
Early- and mid-term results of sutureless aortic valve replacement in high-risk patients: our single-center experience
Background: In this study, we present early-and mid-term results of sutureless bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement in high-risk patients with severe calcific aortic stenosis
