    Emotionally Intelligent Employees’ Work Outcomes: The Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment

    The present study examines the effect of emotional intelligence on turnover intention and organizational indifference, noting the mediating role of organizational commitment. The current model of the study is considered one of the first attempts in examining these variables in the tourism industry. The structural equation modeling has been used to analyze the sample consisting of hotel department managers who have direct contact with the customers. According to the research results, emotional intelligence and organizational commitment decrease turnover intention and organizational indifference of the hotel department managers. In addition, emotional intelligence has been positively associated with the employees' organizational commitment. Finally, it has been found that organizational commitment mediates the effect of emotional intelligence on turnover intention and organizational indifference. Managers at the hotels should have the high emotional intelligence to establish empathy and perseverance to avoid being indifferent.     Psikolojik Dayanıklılık ve İş Tatmini Arasındaki İlişkide Öz-Şefkatin ve İçsel Motivasyonun Rolü

    Öz-şefkat ile içsel motivasyon çalışanların psikolojik dayanıklıklarını ve iş tatmini düzeylerini arttırmak için kilit bir faktörler olarak kabul edilmektedir. Yüksek motivasyona ve öz-şefkate sahip sahip olan çalışanlar yaptıkları işlerden daha fazla tatmin olacaklar ve psikolojik dayanıklılık hallarini koruyabilirler. Bu çalışmada, temel olarak psikolojik dayanıklılık düzeyi yüksek olan çalışanların, beraberinde gelen öz-şefkat ve içsel motivasyondaki artışların etkisiyle mi iş tatminlerinde artışlar meydana geliyor sorusuna cevap aranacaktır.Dolayısıylabu çalışmanın temel amacı, çalışan yetişkinlerde psikolojik dayanıklılığın iş tatmini üzerindeki etkisinde öz-şefkatin ve içsel motivasyonun aracı rol üstlenip üstlenmediğini belirlemektir. İlgili amaç doğrultusunda araştırma örneklemini kamu ve özel sektör çalışanları oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında elektronik ortamda (Google form aracılığıyla) hazırlanan anket formu evrene ulaştırılmış, 454 katılımcıdan geri dönüş sağlanmıştır. Araştırmada örnekleme tekniklerinden kolayda örnekleme tercih edilmiştir. Mevcut araştırmanın tanımlayıcı istatistiklerini, güvenilirliklerini, normallik değerlerini, değişkenlerin birbirleriyle olan ilişkilerini belirlemek için SPSS 22.0 programından faydalanılmıştır. Ölçeklerin yapı geçerlilikleri ve araştırmanın amacı kapsamında oluşturulan modeli test etmek için AMOS 24.0 programı kullanılarak yapısal eşitlik modeli (YEM) ve aracılık rolü (dolaylı etki) analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan istatistik analizleri neticesinde, psikolojik dayanıklılığın iş tatmini üzerindeki etkisinde öz-şefkatin ve içsel motivasyonun aracı rol üstlendiği saptanmıştı

    Neurološki simptomi koji su česti u pacijenata s COVID-19: retrospektivna opservacijska studija

    In December 2019, a novel coronavirus outbreak spread rapidly all over the world. The virus is known to be neuroinvasive, but much is still unknown. In this study, we aimed to present the main neurologic symptoms in patients who were diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The study was conducted retrospectively by phoning 156 patients in Turkey diagnosed with COVID-19 through real-time polymerase chain reaction; only 100 patients could be reached. Data about their demographics, initial symptoms, neurological symptoms, and sleeping habits were collected. During the disease process, 66% had at least one neurological symptom, 55% had central nervous system symptoms, 42% had peripheral nervous system symptoms, and 64% had sleep disturbances and myalgia. Impaired consciousness, smell and taste impairments, and sleep disturbances were significantly higher in patients with positive chest computed tomography imaging (p < 0.05). Neurological symptoms were observed in COVID-19, as in other coronaviruses. Headache in particular was the most common symptom in our population. In patients with respiratory system findings, the detection of certain neurological symptoms such as smell-taste impairments, impaired consciousness, and sleep disorders were more common. We concluded that COVID-19 patients should be approached in a more holistic way, taking the nervous system into account.U prosincu 2019. nova epidemija koronavirusa brzo se proširila cijelim svijetom. Poznato je da je virus neuroinvazivan, ali je pun nepoznanica. U ovoj studiji imali smo za cilj predstaviti glavne neurološke simptome kod pacijenata kojima je dijagnosticirana koronavirusna bolest 2019. (COVID-19). Studija je provedena retrospektivno telefoniranjem 156 pacijenata u Turskoj kojima je dijagnosticiran COVID-19 putem lančane reakcije polimeraze u stvarnom vremenu; moglo se doći do samo 100 bolesnika. Prikupljeni su podaci o njihovim demografskim podacima, početnim simptomima, neurološkim simptomima i navikama spavanja. U procesu bolesti, 66% je imalo barem jedan neurološki simptom, 55% je imalo simptome središnjeg živčanog sustava, 42% imalo je simptome perifernog živčanog sustava, a 64% imalo je poremećaje spavanja i mijalgiju. Poremećaji svijesti, mirisa i okusa te poremećaji spavanja bili su značajno veći u bolesnika s pozitivnim slikanjem računalne tomografije u prsima (p <0,05). Neurološki simptomi primijećeni su u COVID-19, kao što su ostali koronavirusi. Posebno je glavobolja najčešći simptom u našoj populaciji. U bolesnika s nalazima dišnog sustava češće je otkrivanje određenih neuroloških simptoma kao što su smetnje okusa mirisa, oslabljena svijest i spavanje.     Validity and Reliability Study of the Turkish Version of the Organizational Indifference Scale

    anemonThe concept of organizational indifference is stated as the feeling of estrangement of employees towards the organization’s different aspects and absence of commitments in time. Organizational indifference, which has been considered among the current variables both in the field of organizational behavior and human resources recently, will provide significant contribution to the literature. The aim of this study is to adapt the Organizational Indifference Scale into Turkish and perform the validity and reliability analyses. The sample of the study comprised of 248 employees who work in the retail industry in Isparta. Within the scope of the study, it is applied to the Social and Humanity Sciences Ethics Committee of T.C. Süleyman Demirel University and the approval of the research is taken on 12.28.2020 with the number of 2020/9. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the model showed acceptable fit to the data. Internal consistency reliability coefficients of the scales’ dimensions were calculated between .68 and .85. The results of the item analysis indicated that the corrected item-total score correlations of the subscales varied between .33 and .68. Besides, it was determined that the adapted scale had criterion-related validity. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was found out that the sub-dimensions of the Organizational Indifference Scale had a negative relationship with affective commitment, and a positive relationship with turnover intention. Based on these findings, it was considered a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used in the field of organizational behavior.Örgütsel Kayıtsızlık kavramı, örgüt çalışanlarının farklı boyutlarda örgütlerine karşı yabancılaşması ve zamanla örgüte olan bağlılıklarının ortadan kaybolması şeklinde ifade edilebilir. Son yıllarda örgütsel davranış ve insan kaynakları alanında güncel kavramlardan birisi olarak ifade edilen örgütsel kayıtsızlığın, bir ölçme aracıyla ölçülebilmesi alan yazın açısından önemli bir kolaylık sağlayacaktır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Örgütsel Kayıtsızlık Ölçeği’ni Türkçeye uyarlamak ve geçerlik, güvenirlik analizlerini gerçekleştirmektir. Araştırmanın örneklemi, Isparta ilinde perakende sektöründe görev yapan 248 çalışandan oluşmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında T.C. Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Sosyal ve Beşerî Bilimler Etik Kuruluna müracaat edilmiş, 28.12.2020 tarihinde kurulun 2020/9 sayılı kararı ile araştırmanın yapılması uygun bulunmuştur. Yapılan doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonuçları, modelin kabul edilebilir seviyede uyum verdiğini göstermiştir. Ölçeğin boyutlarının iç tutarlık güvenirlik katsayıları .68 ile .85 arasında hesaplanmıştır. Madde analizi sonucunda alt ölçeklerin düzeltilmiş madde-toplam puan korelasyonlarının .33 ile .68 arasında değiştiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca, uyarlaması yapılan ölçeğin ölçüt bağıntılı geçerliğe sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yapılan korelasyon analizi sonucunda Örgütsel Kayıtsızlık Ölçeği’nin alt boyutlarının, duygusal bağlılıkla negatif, işten ayrılma niyeti ile pozitif yönlü ilişkileri bulunmuştur. Bu bulgulara dayanarak, ölçeğin örgütsel davranış alanında kullanılabilecek, geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu düşünülmektedir.89144

    An Exploratory Study on the Outcomes of Influence Strategiesin Mobile Application Recommendations

    The rapid growth in the mobile application market presents a significant challenge to find interesting and relevant applications for users. Recommendation systems deal with ends such as movies and consumer goods that are consumed by users where similarity between consumer tastes is generally taken into account. On the other hand, recommendation systems for mobile applications differ from traditional systems in terms of the characteristics of the ends they recommend. They present applications that are not just the ends for consumption but also means to reach various ends. In almost all application stores mobile applications are grouped under headings that employ consensus or authority influence strategies such as the most popular, most downloaded, editor's choice or applications of the day. However in the literature, there is limited information about the users' perception of such influence strategies and underlying factors that lie beyond the users' preferences. The traditional persuasion literature suggests that people are more likely to accept recommendations when the sources display persuasive messages during the interaction. However the effect of visibility modality in the display has not been extensively studied. The effects of visible and semi-visible persuasive messages are analyzed and compared in this study. The users' compliance with persuasive messages in the mobile application recommendation domain is examined. The question of how the persuadability of users affects their compliance is further explored

    Donor-acceptor type super-structural triazine cored conducting polymer containing carbazole and quinoline for high-contrast electrochromic device

    Star shaped functionalized molecules allow the production of sophisticated nano devices by using them as the building blocks for the formation of superstructured macromolecules. Here, we address star-shaped molecule which is formed by quinoline and electroactive carbazole functionalized triazine (TQEC). Using quinoline as electron accepting (A) and carbazole as electron donating (D) moiety, the resulting conductive polymer is designed to have high optical contrast. The cross-linked polymer (PTQEC) characterized after the electropolymerization of the A/D type molecule has been found to have superior optical and electrical properties. It has high optical contrast (71% at 675 nm), fast switching time about 3 s and high long time redox stability (91.75%). As a result of the spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic characterization, it is determined that PTQEC is transparent and green colored in its neutral and oxidized states, which is a desirable property for smart windows. Therefore electrochromic devices (ECDs) depending on PTQEC and PEDOT were established, where PEDOT functioned as the cathodically coloring layer. Optical and electrochemical characterizations of the device in the way of the optical contrast (51% at 540 nm), switching time (about 3 s), open circuit memory, redox stability (95.36%) and colors were investigated

    A Study on User Perception of Mobile Commerce for Android and iOS Device Users

    ustomer profiling in the mobile commerce (m-commerce) domain has recently gained importance due to the increased proliferation of smartphones and tablets. One of the major challenges confronting m-commerce developers is the need to know user perceptions of m-commerce applications in order to better design and deliver m-commerce services. In this paper, user perceptions of mobile commerce applications is analyzed based on their gender and the operating system (OS) of the devices in use, which are important factors for user profiling in mobile business models. The results show that there is a significant difference between Android and iOS device users' perceptions of mobile commerce applications except for their perception of advertisements. On the other hand, user perceptions of mobile applications in general does not exhibit significant differences except for the perception of usefulness for both gender and OS

    What installed mobile applications tell about their owners and how they affect users' download behavior

    The rapid growth in the mobile application market presents a significant challenge to find interesting and relevant applications for users. An experimental study was conducted through the use of a specifically designed mobile application, on users' mobile phones. The goals were; first, to learn about the users' personality and the applications they downloaded to their mobile phones, second to recommend applications to users via notifications through the use of experimental mobile application and learn about user behavior in mobile environment. The question of how the personality features of users affect their compliance to recommendations is explored in this study. It is found that conscientiousness is positively related with accepting recommended applications and being agreeable is related with the preference for the applications of editor's choice. Furthermore, in this study, applications owned by the user and the composition of applications under categories and their relation with personality features are explored. It is shown that the number of user owned applications and their category differ according to gender and personality. Having similar applications and the number of applications owned under specific categories increase the probability of accepting recommended applications
