Eine „dienende Rolle“ für den Finanzsektor? Nicht dienen, sondern funktionieren!

The image is undisputed in the political debate that the function of the financial sector is to "play servant" to the real economy, but the consequences derived from this debate are controversial. Clearer is the academic concept to restrict the functions of the financial sector deliberately. But such restriction is hardly convincing from the different persepectives of functionality. Because of this indetermination and, respectively, restriction, a "servant role" is apparently inappropriate as a useful yardstick for reorienting the financial sector. In line with this image, it would certainly be possible to improve crisis prevention, but at the price of cuts in important functions so that a "sevant role" as a concept of crisis prevention would not be desirable either

En este esbozo de la larga historia de la recepción —casi tres siglos— de la obra de Quevedo, se insistirá en algunos de los momentos más relevantes y particulares de la situación alemana, como son las primeras traducciones del siglo xvii, mediadas por las versiones francesas de Sieur de la Geneste, la divulgación de Quevedo durante la ilustración y el romanticismo, el uso político-religioso que hizo R. Baumstark de la vida de Quevedo en la época de la Kulturkampf y, finalmente, la doble labor de transmisión de la obra del escritor en las dos Alemanias después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial hasta la actualidad. En un segundo paso, se ofrecerá además un breve panorama del estado del quevedismo alemán actual.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following survey of nearly three hundred years of reception of the work of Quevedo in Germany will take into account some of the moments which result most relevant and specific for the German cultural context: the first German translations in the 17th Century which were not based in the original texts but the French versions of Sieur de la Geneste, the transmission of Quevedo’s work during Illustration and Romanticism, the ideological religious instrumentation of his life by R. Baumstark in the times of the Kulturkampf between Bismarck and the Zentrum, and, last but not least, the two-folded transmission of his writings in the two German States after World War Two right up to the present. Assembling Neurospheres: Dynamics of Neural Progenitor/Stem Cell Aggregation Probed Using an Optical Trap

Optical trapping (tweezing) has been used in conjunction with fluid flow technology to dissect the mechanics and spatio-temporal dynamics of how neural progenitor/stem cells (NSCs) adhere and aggregate. Hitherto unavailable information has been obtained on the most probable minimum time (∼5 s) and most probable minimum distance of approach (4–6 µm) required for irreversible adhesion of proximate cells to occur. Our experiments also allow us to study and quantify the spatial characteristics of filopodial- and membrane-mediated adhesion, and to probe the functional dynamics of NSCs to quantify a lower limit of the adhesive force by which NSCs aggregate (∼18 pN). Our findings, which we also validate by computational modeling, have important implications for the neurosphere assay: once aggregated, neurospheres cannot disassemble merely by being subjected to shaking or by thermal effects. Our findings provide quantitative affirmation to the notion that the neurosphere assay may not be a valid measure of clonality and “stemness”. Post-adhesion dynamics were also studied and oscillatory motion in filopodia-mediated adhesion was observed. Furthermore, we have also explored the effect of the removal of calcium ions: both filopodia-mediated as well as membrane-membrane adhesion were inhibited. On the other hand, F-actin disrupted the dynamics of such adhesion events such that filopodia-mediated adhesion was inhibited but not membrane-membrane adhesion
