New light-times curve of eclipsing binary AM Leo

We present 72 photoelectric and CCD times of minima of eclipsing binary AM Leo obtained mainly during 1996-2017 at Kourovka Astronomical Observatory of the Ural Federal University in Russia. We obtained new values of period of 50.5 years and eccentricity of 0.28 of the orbit of the eclipsing pair around the mass center of the system AM Leo with the third body. These results have been received taking into account the times of minima taken from literature and obtained from JD⊙ = 2435570 to JD⊙ = 2457835. © Konkoly Observatory Budapest, 2017.This work was supported in part by the Ministry of Education and Science (the basic part of the State assignment, RK no. The article presents the analysis of age peculiarities of cognitive test performance in children with deficit function of arousal regulation. 173 primary school children participated in this study. We used the neuropsychological assessment and computer-based tests to show relation between different types of the deficit of arousal regulation (slowness or hyperactivity) and deterioration of indices of cognitive functions

The study was conducted in the 2016/2017 academic years by questioning of 1st, 3rd, 5th year students of the Dental faculty of FSBEI HE SUSMU MOH Russia Chelyabinsk. More often enrollees take a decision to enter Medical high school under the influence of their parents - 60,2%. Every second student after graduation from the university intends to leave for other regions of Russia or to other countries. At the same time, the number of students who considers the possibility to return to work in the regions (at the first year 23,2, at the fifth year 32,4 per 100 respondents) has increased. 75% of first-year students and 30% of graduates (t>2) find this profession prestigious. During the period of education, the number of disappointed or doubting in their chosen profession students is increasing: from 3,0% at the first year to 29,7% at the fifth. Among graduates 5,4% do not plan to work in health service.

Efficiency of specific biopreparations in organic waste management

    Get PDF
Background: Biological approach is becoming more popular in the protection of the environment by organic waste of agricultural holdings due to economic efficiency and absence of additional damage to the ecosystem. Microorganisms of biopreparations possess significant fermentative properties and high antagonistic activity against of many pathogenic and opportunistic bacteria and toxigenic filamentous fungi. In our study we have isolated millions of coliform bacteria and Enterococci, thousands of Salmonella, Proteus and Staphylococci in 1 g of initial substrate. After the usage of biopreparations the quantity of coliform bacteria and Enterococci was less than 10 cells/g, and no Salmonella, Staphylococcus or Proteus were found. Application of the biopreparations has prevented the loss of nutrients. Therefore, nitrogen content was higher by 50-60% than in the control. The quantity of nitrifying, ammonifying and cellulose-fermenting microorganisms increased by 15.9%, 6.6% and 15.4%, respectively. Productivity of grain and vegetable crops increased by 10-20%. An important advantage of the biopreparations usage, that also we found, is the elimination of specific odor within a couple days due to the ability of their microorganisms to assimilate nitrogen from urea and neutralize the substrate against the bacteria causing putrefaction, anaerobic processes and the emission of ammonia and hydrogen sulphide. Conclusion: The application of developed new biopreparations will allow producing high-quality environmentally friendly agricultural products

A Revised Design for Microarray Experiments to Account for Experimental Noise and Uncertainty of Probe Response

    Get PDF
Background Although microarrays are analysis tools in biomedical research, they are known to yield noisy output that usually requires experimental confirmation. To tackle this problem, many studies have developed rules for optimizing probe design and devised complex statistical tools to analyze the output. However, less emphasis has been placed on systematically identifying the noise component as part of the experimental procedure. One source of noise is the variance in probe binding, which can be assessed by replicating array probes. The second source is poor probe performance, which can be assessed by calibrating the array based on a dilution series of target molecules. Using model experiments for copy number variation and gene expression measurements, we investigate here a revised design for microarray experiments that addresses both of these sources of variance. Results Two custom arrays were used to evaluate the revised design: one based on 25 mer probes from an Affymetrix design and the other based on 60 mer probes from an Agilent design. To assess experimental variance in probe binding, all probes were replicated ten times. To assess probe performance, the probes were calibrated using a dilution series of target molecules and the signal response was fitted to an adsorption model. We found that significant variance of the signal could be controlled by averaging across probes and removing probes that are nonresponsive or poorly responsive in the calibration experiment. Taking this into account, one can obtain a more reliable signal with the added option of obtaining absolute rather than relative measurements. Conclusion The assessment of technical variance within the experiments, combined with the calibration of probes allows to remove poorly responding probes and yields more reliable signals for the remaining ones. Once an array is properly calibrated, absolute quantification of signals becomes straight forward, alleviating the need for normalization and reference hybridizations

The paper presents an overview of cases in which the analysis of the internal structure and mechanical properties of fibre reinforced composites is performed based on the micro-computed X-ray tomography (micro-CT) reconstruction of the composite reinforcement geometry. In all the cases, the analysis relies on structure tensor-based algorithms for quantification of the micro-CT image, implemented in VoxTex software
