Image super-resolution method based on a hole array mask usage

Get PDF
A super-resolution method based on the image registration by a photo-matrix located behind the mask with a hole array is proposed. The mask can take four different positions in relation to the photo-matrix. Each position allows the registration of one digital image using a quarter of each pixel in the matrix. Based on these images one image whose linear spatial resolution two time exceeds the resolution of each registered images is synthesized. The method is very resistant to noise and interference in the process of registration as well as to calculation error

Atypical reactive center Kunitz-type inhibitor from the sea anemone Heteractis crispa

The primary structure of a new Kunitz-type protease inhibitor InhVJ from the sea anemone Heteractis crispa (Radianthus macrodactylus) was determined by protein sequencing and cDNA cloning. InhVJ amino acid sequence was shown to share high sequence identity (up to 98%) with the other known Kunitz-type sea anemones sequences. It was determined that the P1 Thr at the reactive site resulted in a decrease of the Ki of InhVJ to trypsin and a-chymotrypsin (7.38 × 10-8 M and 9.93 × 10-7 M, respectively). By structure modeling the functional importance of amino acids at the reactive site as well as at the weak contact site were determined. The significant role of Glu45 for the orientation and stabilization of the InhVJ-trypsin complex was elucidated. We can suggest that there has been an adaptive evolution of the P1 residue at the inhibitor reactive site providing specialization or functional diversification of the paralogs. The appearance of a key so-called P1 Thr residue instead of Lys might lead to refinement of inhibitor specificity in the direction of subfamilies of serine proteases. The absence of Kv channel and TRPV1-receptor modulation activity was confirmed by electrophysiological screening tests

We describe a scheme for producing polarised positrons at the ILC from polarised X-rays created by Compton scattering of a few-GeV electron beam off a CO2 or YAG laser. This scheme is very energy effective using high finesse laser cavities in conjunction with an electron storage ring.Comment: Proposal submitted to the ILC workshop, Snowmass 2005. v2: note number adde

The article presents the results of etiological diagnostics of cases of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in children during the epidemic periods of 2014—2017, the material sampling was carried out at the Children's regional clinical hospital named after A.K. Piotrovich. Comparative material on the three seasons: 2014—2015, 2015—2016 and 2016—2017 years. The features of the annual dynamics of the frequency of allocation of various respiratory viruses are revealed. The most numerous group of patients was children first year of life (infants) — 154 (35.6 ± 2.3%). Among the hospitalized children prevailed patients with moderate severity (of 90.9 ± 1.3%). The causative agent was determined in 307 of 432 observed patients (71 ± 2.1%). It is shown that the predominant viral pathogen in all seasons is the rhinovirus. Among cases of community-acquired pneumonia the dominant pathogen is respiratory syncytial virus. Bocaviruses, metapneumoviruses and coronaviruses were more often found in the form of association with other viruses. The circulation of the influenza virus was accompanied by a decrease in the attention of other respiratory viruses.

A Large Hadron Electron Collider at CERN

This document provides a brief overview of the recently published report on the design of the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC), which comprises its physics programme, accelerator physics, technology and main detector concepts. The LHeC exploits and develops challenging, though principally existing, accelerator and detector technologies. This summary is complemented by brief illustrations of some of the highlights of the physics programme, which relies on a vastly extended kinematic range, luminosity and unprecedented precision in deep inelastic scattering. Illustrations are provided regarding high precision QCD, new physics (Higgs, SUSY) and electron-ion physics. The LHeC is designed to run synchronously with the LHC in the twenties and to achieve an integrated luminosity of O(100) fb1^{-1}. It will become the cleanest high resolution microscope of mankind and will substantially extend as well as complement the investigation of the physics of the TeV energy scale, which has been enabled by the LHC

A novel expression cassette delivers efficient production of exclusively tetrameric human butyrylcholinesterase with improved pharmacokinetics for protection against organophosphate poisoning

© 2015 Published by Elsevier B.V. Butyrylcholinesterase is a stoichiometric bioscavenger against poisoning by organophosphorus pesticides and nerve agents. The low level of expression and extremely rapid clearance of monomeric recombinant human butyrylcholinesterase (rhBChE) from bloodstream (t1/2;≈2 min) limits its pharmaceutical application. Recently (Ilyushin at al., PNAS, 2013) we described a long-acting polysialylated recombinant butyrylcholinesterase (rhBChE-CAO), stable in the bloodstream, that protects mice against 4.2 LD50 of VR. Here we report a set of modifications of the initial rhBChE expression vector to improve stability of the enzyme in the bloodstream and increase its production in CHO cells by introducing in the expression cassette: (i) the sequence of the natural human PRAD-peptide in frame with rhBChE gene via "self-processing" viral F2A peptide under control of an hEF/HTLV promoter, and (ii) previously predicted in silico MAR 1-68 and MAR X-29 sequences. This provides fully tetrameric rhBChE (4rhBChE) at 70 mg/l, that displays improved pharmacokinetics (t1/2; = 32 ± 1.2 h, MRT = 43 ± 2 h). 3D Fluorescent visualization and distribution of 125I-labeled enzyme reveals similar low level 4rhBChE and rhBChE-CAO accumulation in muscle, fat, and brain. Administered 4rhBChE was mainly catabolized in the liver and breakdown products were excreted in kidney. Injection of 1.2 LD50 and 1.1 LD50 of paraoxon to BALB/c and knockout BChE-/- mice pre-treated with 4rhBChE (50 mg/kg) resulted in 100% and 78% survival, respectively, without perturbation of long-term behavior. In contrast, 100% mortality of non-pre-treated mice was observed. The high expression level of 4rhBChE in CHO cells permits consideration of this new expression system for manufacturing BChE as a biopharmaceutical
