Microwave properties of Nb/PdNi/Nb trilayers. Observation of flux flow in excess of Bardeen-Stephen theory

We combine wideband (1-20 GHz) Corbino disk and dielectric resonator (8.2 GHz) techniques to study the microwave properties in Nb/PdNi/Nb trilayers, grown by UHV dc magnetron sputtering, composed by Nb layers of nominal thickness dSd_S=15 nm, and a ferromagnetic PdNi layer of thickness dFd_F= 1, 2, 8 and 9 nm. We focus on the vortex state. Magnetic fields up to Hc2H_{c2} were applied. The microwave resistivity at fixed H/Hc2H/H_{c2} increases with dFd_F, eventually exceeding the Bardeen Stephen flux flow value.Comment: 6 pages. This article presents the results of research by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods of fatty acid composition of vegetable oils which sold in the trading network of the Republic of Belarus, it also presents an assessment of their quality characteristics from the standpoint of modern views on food hygiene. It was found, that the vegetable oils include both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids with one or two double bonds. Two samples of sunflower oil was found in the analysis that do not meet the requirements of the quantitative content of oleic and linoleic acids. Quality counterfeits were also found among the tested olive oils. Fatty acid composition must be controlled continuously during production and use of vegetable oils, and especially mixtures thereof. The combination of spectroscopic and chromatographic methods allows obtaining detailed picture of analysis of the fatty acid content in oils

The article is devoted to the study of the system of proper names in the texts of animated films with a folklore precedent basis. The relevance of the research is due to the need to study media texts that translate folklore imagery in linguocognitive and linguostylistic aspects. The material for the research is character and voice-over texts of animated films about Russian heroes: “Alyosha Popovich i Tugarin Zmey” (2004), “Dobrynya Nikitich i The Zmey Gorynych” (2006), “Ilya Muromets I Solovey Razboynik” (2007). The complex of names of geographical objects, the naming system of anthropo- and zoomorphic characters is considered, the precedent base for the formation of the onomastic space of animated films is determined, and the ways of introducing new components to the proper names system of this content are characterized. Special attention is paid to the description of intertextual links of the polycode content under study with works of epic genres of Russian folklore and with other sources. The scientific novelty of the work is seen in the fact that the verbal component of the studied animated films is currently insufficiently studied, and their proper names system becomes the subject of linguistic analysis for the first time

The article is devoted to the study of the verbal component of animated films with a folk precedent basis. The relevance of the research is due to the need to study the conceptosphere of modern media texts conveying folklore imagery. The results of a comparative analysis of female images in animated films about Russian heroes are presented (Alyosha Popovich and Tugarin Zmey (2004), Dobrynya Nikitich and Zmey Gorynych (2006), Ilya Muromets and Nightingale the Robber (2007) in comparison with their folk prototypes. The issues of speech representation of the images of the mother and the bride / wife of a hero, traditional for the epic genre, as well as other female images, the appearance of which is due to the influence of other precedent sources, are considered. The conceptual proximity of the narrative-story line basis and the composition of the characters of the texts under study to the Russian fairy tale is proved. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of the stylistic technique of burlesque travesty, it is proved that this technique is the main means of creating a comic effect and performs a text-forming function in the studied polycode content. The scientific novelty of the work is seen in the fact that the verbal component of the animated films studied was not previously the subject of linguistic analysis

Aim. To determine the incidence, predictors and develop a model for long-term risk stratification of ischemic events in patients with coronary artery disease after coronary bypass surgery.Material and methods. This retrospective study of the clinical course in patients with diffuse coronary artery disease (CAD) after coronary endarterectomy and bypass grafting surgery. A total of 232 patients were included, while long-term outcomes were assessed in 202 patients. Among them, complete data on clinical status were obtained from survivors (n=191). The median follow-up was 60 (interquartile range, 42; 74) months, while the minimum follow-up — 12 months, the maximum was 96 months. The primary composite endpoint reflecting the unfavorable course of CAD included coronary ischemic events (recurrent angina, myocardial infarction, repeat revascularization), while secondary endpoint — allcause mortality. The factors influencing the development of primary and secondary endpoints were studied.Results. An unfavorable CAD course was diagnosed in 39 patients (20,4%), while 11 deaths were recorded (5,4%). Univariate analysis demonstrated a significant role of prior myocardial infarction in the increase in mortality rate (p=0,029). Among the factors influencing the CAD course, no significant differences were obtained for any of them. A multivariate analysis was performed to identify a high-risk group for an unfavorable course of diffuse CAD. Independent predictors were identified, the most significant contribution of which was made by multifocal atherosclerosis (odds ratio (OR)=1,99, 95% confidence interval (CI), 0,93-4,21, p=0,072), low adherence to secondary prevention measures (OR=2,21, 95% CI, 0,86-6,89, p=0,128) and diabetes (OR=1,73, 95% CI, 0,79-3,72, p=0,162). Using the results obtained, a prognostic model with high specificity (64%) and moderate sensitivity (53%) was created.Conclusion. The highest probability of an unfavorable long-term course of diffuse CAD was noted in patients with diabetes, multifocal atherosclerosis, and low adherence to secondary prevention measures. The obtained results make it possible to identify a high-risk group in this cohort of patients, determine the reserve of secondary prevention measures and a direction of actions to improve outcomes

    Lenticular galaxies with UV-rings

By using the public UV imaging data obtained by the GALEX (Galaxy Ultraviolet Explorer) for nearby galaxies, we have compiled a list of lenticular galaxies possessing ultraviolet rings - starforming regions tightly confined to particular radial distances from galactic centers. We have studied large-scale structure of these galaxies in the optical bands by using the data of the SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey): we have decomposed the galactic images into large-scale disks and bulges, have measured the ring optical colours from the residual images after subtracting model disks and bulges, and have compared the sizes of the rings in the optical light and in the UV-band. The probable origin of the outer starforming ring appearances in unbarred galaxies demonstrating otherwise the regular structure and homogeneously old stellar population beyond the rings is discussed.Comment: 9 pages plus one big colour figure in the Appendix; the slightly expanded version of the paper accepted to Astronomy Letter

    Get PDF
Introduction: Modern research on occupational medicine has shown that general diseases contribute the most to health deterioration in workers of hazardous industries and significantly affect the timing of the onset of occupational diseases. Objective: To assess the impact of comorbid disorders on the probability of occupational fluoride toxicity in aluminum production workers. Materials and methods: The paper describes existing international scales used to assess comorbid disorders and emphasizes the relevance of publications on the comorbidity of workers of hazardous and harmful industries. The comorbidity index was calculated for each of 201 aluminum production workers. Comorbidity index calculations, health indicators, and parameters of working conditions were entered in the electronic database. The article presents a method for determining the probability of occupational disease development using a logistic regression. Results: A prognostic model was built using a logistic regression and comorbidity indices to determine the influence of human body systems on the probability of developing occupational fluoride poisoning (fluorosis). Conclusion: Using the logistic regression, we have determined combinations of comorbidity indices having a strongest effect on the probability of fluoride poisoning for prediction and implementation of appropriate preventive measures. To reduce the likelihood of occupational diseases, it is necessary to treat comorbid disorders in workers of harmful industries. © 2023, Federal Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. Introduction. Crohn’s disease is a recurrent inflammatory disease that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract with transmural manifestations. Extraintestinal manifestations occur in 21–47% of all cases. Radiology techniques play a significant role in diagnosis, assessment and observation by means of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.Materials and methods. Clinical data, laboratory and instrumental studies, surgical procedures done in the children’s hospital were collected and analyzed during the study.Results. A 4-year-old girl was urgently presented to the hospital with non-productive cough and tachypnea that had lasted for two days. Inhalation therapy with Berodual® and Pulmicort® was initiated with a minor effect. Chest multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) showed signs of larynx edema, regular bilateral infiltrates with a volume decrease of the lung on the right side, left-sided tension pneumothorax. It was known that Crohn’s disease had been diagnosed in 7 months. The condition of the child was assessed as a serious case of Crohn’s disease. The condition of patient became stable after 7 days of treatment. The child has been observed by a gastroenterologist and a pulmonologist later.Conclusion. It is highly recommended to take into account the possibility of respiratory system involvement in patients with diagnosed inflammatory bowel diseases. A thorough anamnestic data research and multidisciplinary approach while evaluating the results of the chest MDCT would help clinicians to optimize clinical management at the early stage of the disease and prevent the development of possible complications.

Social factors influencing Russian male alcohol use over the life course: a qualitative study investigating age based social norms, masculinity, and workplace context

    Get PDF
The massive fluctuations occurring in Russian alcohol-related mortality since the mid-1980s cannot be seen outside of the context of great social and economic change. There is a dearth of qualitative studies about Russian male drinking and especially needed are those that address social processes and individual changes in drinking. Conducted as part of a longitudinal study on men’s alcohol consumption in Izhevsk, this qualitative study uses 25 semi-structured biographical interviews with men aged 33–60 years to explore life course variation in drinking. The dominant pattern was decreasing binge and frequent drinking as men reached middle age which was precipitated by family building, reductions in drinking with work colleagues, and health concerns. A minority of men described chaotic drinking histories with periods of abstinence and heavy drinking. The results highlight the importance of the blue-collar work environment for conditioning male heavy drinking in young adulthood through a variety of social, normative and structural mechanisms. Post-Soviet changes had a structural influence on the propensity for workplace drinking but the important social function of male drinking sessions remained. Bonding with workmates through heavy drinking was seen as an unavoidable and essential part of young men’s social life. With age peer pressure to drink decreased and the need to perform the role of responsible breadwinner put different behavioural demands on men. For some resisting social pressure to drink became an important site of self-determination and a mark of masculine maturity. Over the lifetime the place where masculine identity was asserted shifted from the workplace to the home, which commonly resulted in a reduction in drinking. We contribute to existing theories of Russian male drinking by showing that the performance of age-related social roles influences Russian men’s drinking patterns, drinking contexts and their attitudes. Further research should be conducted investigating drinking trajectories in Russian men
