    Penggunaan fungsi hash pada pengamanan data atau informasi pada sebuah web site sudah tidak aman lagi, karena memiliki kelemahan berupa collision. Pengamanan yang dilakukan tidak tergantung pada kerahasiaan metode atau algortima yang digunakan, tetapi pada kreativitas memodifikasi dan mengimplementasikan algoritma atau metode yang digunakan. Berdasarkan keadaan di atas modifikasi dan implementasi algoritma kriptografi Vigenere Cipher dan Cipher Block Chaining pada pengamanan data sebuah web site sangat dibutuhkan agar data atau informasi tidak disalahgunakan. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah pengembangan algoritma kriptografi melalui metode modifikasi dan implementasi vigenere cipher dan cipher block chaining. Langkah penelitian yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan study literatur, analisa metode vigenere cipher dan cipher block chaining, merancang modifikasi vigenere cipher dan cipher block chaining untuk proses enkripsi dan dekripsi, melakukan percobaan dan implementasi pada sebuah web site dengan bahasa perograman PHP. Dari penelitian ini akan dihasilkan “Pengembangan Modul Enkripsi Dan Dekripsi Pada PHP Dengan Modifikasi Metode Kriptografi Vigenere Cipher Dan Cipher Block Chaining (Studi kasus pada geekybyte.com)”. Informasi yang dihasilkan yaitu hasil enkripsi data dari web yang tidak bisa dibaca oleh orang lain

    Assessing Novel Lidar Modalities for Maximizing Coverage of a Spaceborne System through the Use of Diode Lasers

    Current satellite lidars have sparse spatial coverage, leading to uncertainty from sampling. This complicates robust change detection and does not allow applications that require continuous coverage. One potential way to increase lidar sampling density is to use more efficient lasers. All current spaceborne lidars use solid-state lasers with a limited efficiency of 5–8%. In this paper, we investigate the potential for using diode lasers, with their higher efficiencies, as an alternative. Diode lasers have reported efficiencies of about 25% and are much smaller and lighter than solid-state lasers. However, they can only emit good beam quality at lower peak powers, which has so far prevented them from being used in spaceborne lidar applications. In this paper, we assess whether the novel lidar modalities necessitated by these lower peak powers are suitable for satellite lidar, determined by whether they can match the design performance of GEDI by being able to accurately measure ground elevation through 98% canopy cover, referred to as having “98% beam sensitivity”. Through this, we show that a diode laser can be operated in pulse train or pulse compressed lidar (PCL) mode from space, using a photon-counting detector. In the best case scenario, this setup requires a detected energy of Edet=0.027 fJ to achieve a beam sensitivity of 98%, which is less than the 0.28 fJ required by a full-waveform solid-state lidar instrument, exemplified by GEDI. When also accounting for the higher laser and detector efficiency, the diode laser in pulse train mode requires similar shot energy as a photon counting solid-state laser such as ICESat-2 which along with the higher laser efficiency could result in a doubling of coverage. We conclude that there is a clear opportunity for diode lasers to be used in spaceborne lidars, potentially allowing wider coverage through their higher efficiencies

    Transcriptional profiling of Neurospora crassa Δmak-2 reveals that mitogen-activated protein kinase MAK-2 participates in the phosphate signaling pathway

    AbstractThe filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa is an excellent model system for examining molecular responses to ambient signals in eukaryotic microorganisms. Inorganic phosphate (Pi) is an essential growth-limiting nutrient in nature and is crucial for the synthesis of nucleic acids and the flow of genetic information. The genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling the response to Pi starvation in N. crassa include at least four genes (nuc-2, preg, pogv, and nuc-1), which are involved in a hierarchical regulatory activation network. In a previous work, we identified a number of genes modulated by NUC-2 protein, including the mak-2 gene, which codes for a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), suggesting its participation in the phosphate signaling pathway. Thus, to identify other genes involved in metabolic responses to exogenous phosphate sensing and the functioning of the MAPK MAK-2, we performed microarray experiments using a mak-2 knockout strain (Δmak-2) grown under phosphate-shortage conditions by comparing its transcription profile to that of a control strain grown in low- and high-phosphate cultures. These experiments revealed 912 unique differentially expressed genes involved in a number of physiological processes related to phosphate transport, metabolism, and regulation as well as posttranslational modification of proteins, and MAPK signaling pathways. Quantitative Real-time PCR gene expression analysis of 18 selected genes, using independent RNA samples, validated our microarray results. A high Pearson correlation between microarray and quantitative Real-time PCR data was observed. The analysis of these differentially expressed genes in the Δmak-2 strain provide evidence that the mak-2 gene participates in the hierarchical phosphate-signaling pathway in N. crassa in addition to its involvement in other metabolic routes such as the isoprenylation pathway, thus revealing novel aspects of the N. crassa phosphorus-sensing network

    Caveolin-1 (Cav1) is a scaffold protein and pathogen receptor in the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract. Chronic infection of gastric epithelial cells by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a major risk factor for human gastric cancer (GC) where Cav1 is frequently down-regulated. However, the function of Cav1 in H. pylori infection and pathogenesis of GC remained unknown. We show here that Cav1-deficient mice, infected for 11 months with the CagA-delivery deficient H. pylori strain SS1, developed more severe gastritis and tissue damage, including loss of parietal cells and foveolar hyperplasia, and displayed lower colonisation of the gastric mucosa than wild-type B6129 littermates. Cav1-null mice showed enhanced infiltration of macrophages and B-cells and secretion of chemokines (RANTES) but had reduced levels of CD25+ regulatory T-cells. Cav1-deficient human GC cells (AGS), infected with the CagA-delivery proficient H. pylori strain G27, were more sensitive to CagA-related cytoskeletal stress morphologies ("humming bird") compared to AGS cells stably transfected with Cav1 (AGS/Cav1). Infection of AGS/Cav1 cells triggered the recruitment of p120 RhoGTPase-activating protein/deleted in liver cancer-1 (p120RhoGAP/DLC1) to Cav1 and counteracted CagA-induced cytoskeletal rearrangements. In human GC cell lines (MKN45, N87) and mouse stomach tissue, H. pylori down-regulated endogenous expression of Cav1 independently of CagA. Mechanistically, H. pylori activated sterol-responsive element-binding protein-1 (SREBP1) to repress transcription of the human Cav1 gene from sterol-responsive elements (SREs) in the proximal Cav1 promoter. These data suggested a protective role of Cav1 against H. pylori-induced inflammation and tissue damage. We propose that H. pylori exploits down-regulation of Cav1 to subvert the host's immune response and to promote signalling of its virulence factors in host cells

    Possibilistic classifiers for numerical data

    International audienceNaive Bayesian Classifiers, which rely on independence hypotheses, together with a normality assumption to estimate densities for numerical data, are known for their simplicity and their effectiveness. However, estimating densities, even under the normality assumption, may be problematic in case of poor data. In such a situation, possibility distributions may provide a more faithful representation of these data. Naive Possibilistic Classifiers (NPC), based on possibility theory, have been recently proposed as a counterpart of Bayesian classifiers to deal with classification tasks. There are only few works that treat possibilistic classification and most of existing NPC deal only with categorical attributes. This work focuses on the estimation of possibility distributions for continuous data. In this paper we investigate two kinds of possibilistic classifiers. The first one is derived from classical or flexible Bayesian classifiers by applying a probability–possibility transformation to Gaussian distributions, which introduces some further tolerance in the description of classes. The second one is based on a direct interpretation of data in possibilistic formats that exploit an idea of proximity between data values in different ways, which provides a less constrained representation of them. We show that possibilistic classifiers have a better capability to detect new instances for which the classification is ambiguous than Bayesian classifiers, where probabilities may be poorly estimated and illusorily precise. Moreover, we propose, in this case, an hybrid possibilistic classification approach based on a nearest-neighbour heuristics to improve the accuracy of the proposed possibilistic classifiers when the available information is insufficient to choose between classes. Possibilistic classifiers are compared with classical or flexible Bayesian classifiers on a collection of benchmarks databases. The experiments reported show the interest of possibilistic classifiers. In particular, flexible possibilistic classifiers perform well for data agreeing with the normality assumption, while proximity-based possibilistic classifiers outperform others in the other cases. The hybrid possibilistic classification exhibits a good ability for improving accuracy

    Correlation between the Josephson coupling energy and the condensation energy in bilayer cuprate superconductors

    We review some previous studies concerning the intra-bilayer Josephson plasmons and present new ellipsometric data of the c-axis infrared response of almost optimally doped Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{8}. The c-axis conductivity of this compound exhibits the same kind of anomalies as that of underdoped YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-delta}. We analyze these anomalies in detail and show that they can be explained within a model involving the intra-bilayer Josephson effect and variations of the electric field inside the unit cell. The Josephson coupling energies of different bilayer compounds obtained from the optical data are compared with the condensation energies and it is shown that there is a reasonable agreement between the values of the two quantities. We argue that the Josephson coupling energy, as determined by the frequency of the intra-bilayer Josephson plasmon, represents a reasonable estimate of the change of the effective c-axis kinetic energy upon entering the superconducting state. It is further explained that this is not the case for the estimate based on the use of the simplest ``tight-binding'' sum rule. We discuss possible interpretations of the remarkable agreement between the Josephson coupling energies and the condensation energies. The most plausible interpretation is that the interlayer tunneling of the Cooper pairs provides the dominant contribution to the condensation energy of the bilayer compounds; in other words that the condensation energy of these compounds can be accounted for by the interlayer tunneling theory. We suggest an extension of this theory, which may also explain the high values of T_{c} in the single layer compounds Tl_{2}Ba_{2}CuO_{6} and HgBa_{2}CuO_{4}, and we make several experimentally verifiable predictions.Comment: 16 pages (including Tables) and 7 figures; accepted for publication in Physical Review
