A Collection of Ticks (Ixodidae) From Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia

Ixodid ticks were collected from seven species of endemic murid rodents and from vegetation in Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia. Adult ticks belonging to the species, Amblyomma babirussae, A. cyprium and Dermacentor (Indocentor) steini were taken from the vegetation. Immature ticks assignable to the genera, Haemaphysalis, Amblyomma and Ixodes infested the murids with Parauromys dominator and Maxomys musschenbroekii being the two most heavily tick-infested host species. The data are compared to other tick records from Sulawesi

Synthetic aperture radar images of ocean waves, theories of imaging physics and experimental tests

The physical mechanism for the synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging of ocean waves is investigated through the use of analytical models. The models are tested by comparison with data sets from the SEASAT mission and airborne SAR's. Dominant ocean wavelengths from SAR estimates are biased towards longer wavelengths. The quasispecular scattering mechanism agrees with experimental data. The Doppler shift for ship wakes is that of the mean sea surface

Enhancing service performance through transformational and transactional leadership styles

This paper is concerned with the effects that leadership styles can have upon service performance of front-line staff. Past literature on services marketing has indicated the importance of leadership but has largely ignored the parallel literature in which leadership styles have been conceptualized and operationalized (e.g., sales management, organizational psychology). Consequently, this paper develops a conceptual framework of the effect of leadership styles on service performance anchored in a cross-disciplinary literature review. Specific hypotheses are proposed and future research directions are presented

The implications of probabilistic communication have been far-reaching and pervasive. Given the current status of flexible models, leading analysts particularly desire the simulation of sensor networks, which embodies the intuitive principles of cryptography. We propose a novel method for the evaluation of Smalltalk, which we call WAE

The Ticks (Arachnida: Acari: Ixodida) of Arkansas

Although ticks are a nuisance to humans and other animals, they are an important part of the biota of North America. In addition, they are vectors of many tick-borne disease agents that can negatively affect higher vertebrates. In Arkansas, there have been no recent comprehensive summaries of the ticks (Acari: Ixodida) in the last 40+ yrs. Here, we provide a summary of the ticks of the state and note the disease agents they can transmit
