Knowledge Discovery from Web Logs - A Survey

Web usage mining is obtaining the interesting and constructive knowledge and implicit information from activities related to the WWW. Web servers trace and gather information about user interactions every time the user requests for particular resources. Evaluating the Web access logs would assist in predicting the user behavior and also assists in formulating the web structure. Based on the applications point of view, information extracted from the Web usage patterns possibly directly applied to competently manage activities related to e-business, e-services, e-education, on-line communities and so on. On the other hand, since the size and density of the data grows rapidly, the information provided by existing Web log file analysis tools may possibly provide insufficient information and hence more intelligent mining techniques are needed. There are several approaches previously available for web usage mining. The approaches available in the literature have their own merits and demerits. This paper focuses on the study and analysis of various existing web usage mining techniques

The role of unintegrated DNA in HIV infection

Integration of the reverse transcribed viral genome into host chromatin is the hallmark of retroviral replication. Yet, during natural HIV infection, various unintegrated viral DNA forms exist in abundance. Though linear viral cDNA is the precursor to an integrated provirus, increasing evidence suggests that transcription and translation of unintegrated DNAs prior to integration may aid productive infection through the expression of early viral genes. Additionally, unintegrated DNA has the capacity to result in preintegration latency, or to be rescued and yield productive infection and so unintegrated DNA, in some circumstances, may be considered to be a viral reservoir. Recently, there has been interest in further defining the role and function of unintegrated viral DNAs, in part because the use of anti-HIV integrase inhibitors leads to an abundance of unintegrated DNA, but also because of the potential use of non-integrating lentiviral vectors in gene therapy and vaccines. There is now increased understanding that unintegrated viral DNA can either arise from, or be degraded through, interactions with host DNA repair enzymes that may represent a form of host antiviral defence. This review focuses on the role of unintegrated DNA in HIV infection and additionally considers the potential implications for antiviral therapy

MOISTURE MEASUREMENT IN DE-OILED CAKE USING INFRARED SIGNALS

    No full text
Moisture of De-oiled Cake (DOC) in oil extraction industry is very important to maintain its quality and storage. It is necessary to maintain the moisture in a particular range, so there is need of accurate moisture measurement system. The existing method, weight on drying is time consuming and not suitable for continuous measurements. Some other methods are available but are so expensive. There is need to develop an accurate, low cost and online moisture measurement system. Near Infrared (NIR) signals are suitable for online application and better accuracy. NIR measurement uses reflectance and absorption principle for calculating the moisture content of sample. Higher the moisture content, higher the absorption of infrared light. By using particular band of NIR wavelength, the moisture measurement system is being developed

IMPACT OF CAREER ENABLERS AND FLEXIBLE WORKING METHODS ON WORKFORCE PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY USING PATH MODEL INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT (IJM) IJM Β© I A E M E

ABSTRACT Globalization, changing demographics and metamorphosis in the roles of men and women has forced business to transform the way they operate. Strategies dealing with work-life integration are an important implement in this transformation. Women in the workforce pursuing a career and obtaining remuneration for the same are thus part of a modern phenomenon. It is a well-established fact that women have been challenged by inequality in the workforce. O'Reilly and O'Neill (2006) speak about the various factors which impact the career of a woman across different stages in her life. The primary focus on Gender identity propels the thinking that women can stay true to their engendered identity and still be successful in their careers rather than change their behavior to follow male models of workplace norms. Flexibility at the workplace is a universal need for all -men, women, old and young. It is a gender-neutral initiative, the rationale for which is driven powerfully by the changing roles of men and women, of caregivers and of nurturers. However, in the case of women, it is a sustaining force, a panacea which ensures that the pitfalls and speed-breakers in a woman's career journey do not result in permanent damage, i.e, her dropping off from the workforce, never to return. The present paper is focused on identifying the women career growth enablers and thereby improving the longevity and work place participation of women in the country. Both secondary and primary data sources are used for the purpose of research. 26000 women attended the Hindu Opportunity Job fair for Women, of which 8000 showed interest in flexible careers. From this, every 6th sample was selected systematically. The final sample size, after data cleaning, based on this sampling was 1064. The output of path analysis indicate that the path coefficient for EE against FWB is -0.264 with p-value of 0.033 and the path coefficient for WLB against FWA is 0.204 with significant at one per cent level and the path co-efficient for EE against HBNF is 0.445 with significant at one per cent level
