Risk Assessment Methodology for Critical Infrastructure Protection
The European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection is the main vehicle for the protection of critical infrastructures in
Europe. The Directive 2008/114/EC is the legislative instrument of this programme. Risk assessment is an important element
that is mentioned throughout the Directive text. However, there is no harmonized methodology in Europe for the assessment of
interconnected infrastructures. The present work describes such a methodology and its implementation for the assessment of
critical infrastructures of European dimension. The methodology accounts for impact at asset level, evaluates the propagation of
a failure at network level due to interdependencies and assess the economic impact of critical infrastructure disruption at
national level.JRC.G.6-Security technology assessmen

Real-time feasibility of nonlinear model predictive control for semi-batch reactors subject to uncertainty and disturbances
This paper presents two nonlinear model predictive control based methods for solving closed-loop stochastic dynamic optimisation problems, ensuring both robustness and feasibility with respect to state output constraints. The first one is a new deterministic approach, using the wait-and-see strategy. The key idea is to specifically anticipate violation of output hard-constraints, which are strongly affected by instantaneous disturbances, by backing off of their bounds along the moving horizon. The second method is a stochastic approach to solve nonlinear chance-constrained dynamic optimisation problems under uncertainties. The key aspect is the explicit consideration of the stochastic properties of both exogenous and endogenous uncertainties in the problem formulation (here-and-now strategy). The approach considers a nonlinear relation between uncertain inputs and the constrained state outputs. The performance of the proposed methodologies is assessed via an application to a semi-batch reactor under safety constraints, involving strongly exothermic reactions

THE RELEVANCE OF PEER FEEDBACK IN EFL CLASSES FOR TERTIARY LANGUAGE LEARNERS
This paper reports on a study conducted at at the University of Tetovo (UT), Northern Macedonia and USAMVBT “Regele Mihai I al Romaniei ” from Timisoara, Romania, analysing the effect of peer feedback in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching and learning. The authors hypothesized that peer feedback was not percieved as a genuine strategy for learning languages, while it could be put forth as a useful strategy for improving not only language skills but also critical thinking, as well as empathy. Based on the participants ' responses, the students ' perceptions were anlyzed with an aim of encouraging them to become more confident learners, to improve their English language proficiency and to gain feedback skills. The study was conducted throughout the second semester of the academic year 2018-2019. Acknowledging convenience sampling, the 21 (n=21) subjects who participated in this study included 14 (n=14) students from the seventh semester of the UT, English Language and Literature Department and 12 (n=12) students from USAMVB “King Michael I of Romania” from Timisoara, Romania. The effects and perceptions of peer feedback were discussed from the students ' perspective and from our corroborated points of view. Data were collected using student questionnaires in which participants were asked to reflect back on their experience on peer feedback throughout their studies. Student responses were subjected to a modified content analysis to identify the main themes and topics. Semi-structured interviews with 12 students were undertaken to substantiate the essential findings of content analysis
Deconstructing Purism : Unconscious Drives and Meta-argumentation in Straight Photography
The thesis investigates the nature of the Purist discourse in photography, with the aim of unveiling its lack of a solid theoretical foundation and its unconscious content. Purism outlines the fact that photography is a unique craft, that may not borrow ideas from painting or any other art forms. What makes the Purist discourse suspect and attracts attention to its possible circular style? The fact that the views expressed by its supporters include a frenzied edge, an unnecessary ardor, a combative tone that discloses that there's something hidden, something that doesn't serve the purpose of presenting an unbiased philosophical claimLa tesi investiga la naturalesa del discurs Purista en fotografia, amb la intenció de revelar-hi la carència d'una fundació teòrica sòlida i el seu contingut inconscient.

An epidemic CC1-MRSA-IV clone yields false-negative test results in molecular MRSA identification assays: a note of caution, Austria, Germany, Ireland, 2020
We investigated why a clinical meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolate yielded false-negative results with some commercial PCR tests for MRSA detection. We found that an epidemic European CC1-MRSA-IV clone generally exhibits this behaviour. The failure of the assays was attributable to a large insertion in the orfX/SCCmec integration site. To ensure the reliability of molecular MRSA tests, it is vital to monitor emergence of new SCCmec types and junction sites
