Study on Improving the Surface Wet Condition of Subfloor by Hygroscopic material in Rural Residences of China

Microporous surface materials are put forward to prevent condensation on subfloor in some building design standards and specifications in China. However, in the current study there are mostly applied cases, lacking of quantitative research. This paper simulated and compared the surface wet condition of three different surface materials by WUFI software: solid brick, hardwood and glazed tile brick. The results shows that the time on surface relative humidity that above 95%, hygroscopic subfloor reduces by more than 20% over non-hygroscopic subfloor, and the improvement is over 45% in relative humidity range of 99% to 100%. In high-humidity areas such as Chongqing, it is suitable to use the porous hygroscopic material which moisture absorption capacity rapidly increases when the environment humidity exceed 80%, and absorbs little moisture lower than 80%

A novel dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist is neuroprotective in the MPTP mouse model of Parkinson′s disease by increasing expression of BNDF

The incretins glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and glucose dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) are growth factors with neuroprotective properties. GLP-1 mimetics are on the market as treatments for type 2 diabetes and are well tolerated. Both GLP-1 and GIP mimetics have shown neuroprotective properties in animal models of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, the GLP-1 mimetic exendin-4 has shown protective effects in a clinical trial in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients. Novel GLP-1/GIP dual-agonist peptides have been developed and are tested in diabetic patients. Here we demonstrate the neuroprotective effects of a novel dual agonist (DA-JC1) in the 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) mouse model of PD. MPTP was injected once-daily (20 mg/kg i.p.) for 7 days, and the dual agonist was injected 30 min later i.p. (50 nmol/kg bw). The PI3k inhibitor LY294002 (0.6 mg/kg i.v.) was co-injected in one group. DA-JC1 reduced or reversed most of the MPTP induced motor impairments in the rotarod and in a muscle strength test. The number of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) positive neurons in the substantia nigra (SN) was reduced by MPTP and increased by DA-JC1. The ratio of anti-inflammatory Bcl-2 to pro-inflammatory BAX as well as the activation of the growth factor kinase Akt was reduced by MPTP and reversed by DA-JC1. The PI3k inhibitor had only limited effect on the DA-JC1 drug effect. Importantly, levels of the neuroprotective brain derived neurotropic factor (BDNF) were reduced by MPTP and enhanced by DA-JC1. The results demonstrate that DA-JC1 shows promise as a novel treatment for PD

    C3: Zero-shot Text-to-SQL with ChatGPT

This paper proposes a ChatGPT-based zero-shot Text-to-SQL method, dubbed C3, which achieves 82.3\% in terms of execution accuracy on the holdout test set of Spider and becomes the state-of-the-art zero-shot Text-to-SQL method on the Spider Challenge. C3 consists of three key components: Clear Prompting (CP), Calibration with Hints (CH), and Consistent Output (CO), which are corresponding to the model input, model bias and model output respectively. It provides a systematic treatment for zero-shot Text-to-SQL. Extensive experiments have been conducted to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed method

Serum from patients with ankylosing spondylitis can increase PPARD, fra-1, MMP7, OPG and RANKL expression in MG63 cells

OBJECTIVES: To explore the effects of serum from patients with ankylosing spondylitis on the canonical Wnt/β-catenin pathway and to assess whether the serum has an osteogenic effect in MG63 cells. METHODS: MG63 cells were cultured with serum from 45 ankylosing spondylitis patients, 30 healthy controls, or 45 rheumatoid arthritis patients. The relative PPARD, fra-1, MMP7, OPG and RANKL mRNA levels were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Associations between gene expression and patient demographics and clinical assessments were then analyzed. RESULTS: MG63 cells treated with serum from ankylosing spondylitis patients had higher PPARD, fra-1, MMP7 and OPG gene expression than did cells treated with serum from controls or rheumatoid arthritis patients (all

How wavelength affects the hydrodynamic performance of two accelerating mirror-symmetric slender swimmers

Fish schools are capable of simultaneous linear acceleration. To reveal the underlying hydrodynamic mechanism, we numerically investigate how Reynolds number Re=1000−2000 Re = 1000 - 2000 , Strouhal number St=0.2−0.7 St = 0.2 - 0.7 and wavelength λ=0.5−2 \lambda = 0.5 - 2 affect the mean net thrust and net propulsive efficiency of two side-by-side hydrofoils undulating in anti-phase. In total, 550 550 cases are simulated using immersed boundary method. The thrust increases significantly with wavelength and Strouhal number, yet only slightly with the Reynolds number. We apply a symbolic regression algorithm to formulate this relationship. Furthermore, we find that mirror-symmetric schooling can achieve a \textit{net} thrust more than ten times that of a single swimmer, especially at low Reynolds numbers. The highest efficiency is obtained at St=0.5 St = 0.5 and λ=1.2 \lambda = 1.2 , where St St is consistent with that observed in the linear-accelerating natural swimmers, \eg Crevalle jack. Six distinct flow structures are identified. The highest thrust corresponds to an asymmetric flow pattern, whereas the highest efficiency occurs when the flow is symmetric with converging vortex streets.Comment: This paper has been accepted by Physics of Fluids.
