Torture in Spain withinthe framework of the Basque Conflict

Curso académico 2017-2018[ES] La erradicación de la tortura tanto en sistemas democráticos como no democráticos ha sido uno de los objetivos estrella de las organizaciones internacionales que tratan asuntos de Derechos Humanos, así como de las ONGs de este campo. Esta lucha ha tenido una especial atención en Estados con cualquier tipo de conflicto interno entre el Estado y otro Estado, un ente regional dentro del mismo, una organización terrorista, etc., dada la mayor probabilidad de tortura en estas situaciones. En el presente estudio, se analizarán los casos provenientes de España que han llegado al Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos en materia de delito de tortura y falta de investigación de las mismas. Para ello, se realizará primeramente un deslinde de los conceptos básicos para entender el resto del cuerpo de este trabajo, así como una contextualización del conflicto en el que se circunscriben los casos: el conflicto entre el Estado español y ETA. Seguidamente, se analizarán los aspectos comunes de todas las sentencias, complementándolo con una recopilación de las recomendaciones internacionales en torno a la presencia de la tortura en España y con una perspectiva de género y otra desde la Ciencia Política para finalizar.[EN] The elimination of the torture in both democratic and non-democratic systems has been one of the main objectives of the international organisations and NGOs that work on Human Rights. This struggle has been focused on States in which internal conflicts have developed, whether they concern one State against another State, or against a regional government or a terrorist organisation, due to the increase of the probabilities of torture in these situations. This essay will analyze the Spanish case law related to torture and the lack of support of torture investigations that have been considered by the European Court of Human Rights. First, those concepts that are necessary in order to understand the rest of the essay will be studied from different perspectives. Furthermore, there will be an exposition of the context of the Basque conflict in Spain, between the Spanish government and the terrorist organisation ETA. Finally, the common aspects of the case law will be extracted in order to complement them with a list of recommendations from international organisations about the elimination of torture in Spain and from both a Gender and Political Science perspective to conclude.[EN] In the present work the financing of the political parties is going to treat in Spain his sources, which are that they give operability to the same ones, the initials and those who are used today, the regulation that he them has been accompanying in these 40 years since the democracy was restored and with her the system of parties in representation of the popular will across these and of the corresponding suffrages. We will approach both principal sources of financing that are given in a mixed system as the Spanish and these are the public financing and the private financing, the critiques that are done to the same ones in relation with which it adjusts more with the model. We will study a great problematics that is given concerning the financing, which is the political corruption and his effects. We will analyze the different juridical regulation that has been arising in altars of this financing to try to take an effective control of these public and private flows. We will differentiate two periods in the activities of these entities, the ordinary and extraordinary financing and his different measures. Finally we will see the organ that takes charge controlling this economic - financial activity of these, the so called Court of Accounts and his different measures and reports

Case study. Political violence in Mali: from nationalism to yihadism

Curso académico 2017-2018[ES]La violencia y la inestabilidad siempre han protagonizado la realidad política de África, no solo en los años del colonialismo sino tras alcanzar sus respectivas independencias. Para ilustrar este fenómeno, este trabajo presenta el estudio de caso de Mali, un Estado cuya localización geográfica intermedia hace que reciba influencias tanto del norte como del sur de África. El punto de partida es el golpe de Estado de 2012 y la proclamación del Estado de Ázawad, en el norte, un objetivo ansiado tradicionalmente por los tuaregs, una de las etnias de este Estado plural. Este trabajo tratará de desarrollar las claves por las cuales el movimiento nacionalista tuareg (MNLÁ) en pleno auge tras esta proclamación fue expulsado en pocos meses por un nuevo grupo yihadista: Ál Qaeda en el Magreb Islaímico (ÁQMI). La clave para entender la columna vertebral del trabajo es el papel de caballo de Troya que ejerció ÁQMI, apoyado por Estados Unidos y Árgelia, los cuales buscaban destruir al MNLÁ a través de un grupo más fuerte, desplazándole. La falta de presencia estatal en la zona y el momento de inestabilidad a la hora de proclamar la independencia abonaron el terreno para ello. La presencia de una rica fuente de recursos en la zona y de un actor bisagra entre ambos propiciaron la dependencia del MNLÁ en ÁQMI, el cual acabó destruyéndole.[EN]Violence and instability have been always involved in the political reality in África, not only during colonialism, but also after the achievement of the independences. In order to illustrate this idea, this dissertation publishes the case study of Mali, a country which presents characteristics from both north and south of the continent, due to its intermediate geographical location. The starting point is the coup of 2012 and the proclamation of the new State of Ázawad, in the north of Mali, which meant the goal of the tuaregs, one of the ethnic groups that represents this pluralism in Mali. This dissertation will develop the key aspects that explain why the tuareg nationalist movement (NMLÁ), at its peak, just after the declaration of independence, was thrown out by a new and salafist group: Ál Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb (ÁQIM) in a few months. The key so as to understand the backbone of this dissertation is the successful Trojan horse strategy that ÁQMI – a stronger group - accomplished, while being supported by United States and Álgeria, in order to destroy and displace NMLÁ. The lack of state authority in Ázawad and the inestability in this area during the proclamation of independence paved the way for it. Moreover, the presence of a rich income stream and hinge actor playing its role facilitated the dependence of the NMLÁ on ÁQMI, being finally destroyed

Applications of CVD to Produce Thin Films for Solid‐State Devices

Thin films of Pt‐YSZ and Pd‐ZrO2 cermets by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) from metallorganic precursors (MOCVD) were evaluated as electrode in solid‐state devices. Morphology and structural characteristics were studied by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electronic microscopy (TEM). Electrochemical performance was determined using Tafel and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods. Metallorganic precursors were used (metal‐acetylacetonates), and argon and oxygen were used as the carrier and reactive gases, respectively. The particle average size was less than 20 nm, with high and uniform particle dispersion according to TEM measurements

Smoothed particle hydrodynamics on GPU computing

Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is a powerful technique used to simulate complex free-surface flows. However one of the main drawbacks of this method is the expensive computational runtime and the large number of particles needed when 3D simulations are performed. High Performance Computing (HPC) therefore becomes essential to accelerate these codes and perform simulations. In this study, parallelization using Graphics Processing Units (GPU) is applied to the SPHysics code (www.sphysics.org) dedicated to free-surface flows with SPH. Simulations involving several million particles on a single GPU exhibit speedups of up to two orders of magnitude over the same calculations using CPU codes, while parallelization using MPI for multi-GPU leads to further acceleration. This cheap technology allows studying real-life engineering problems at reasonable computational runtimes

On the use of NASGRO software to estimate fatigue crack growth under variable amplitude loading in aluminium alloy 2024-T351

This work uses the strip yield model implemented in NASGRO software to estimate fatigue life under random loading. Simulated results were compared with experimental data previously obtained by the authors using different random loading processes in Al2024-T351. Test data under constant amplitude loading from different authors have been considered in order to characterize the material behaviour and fit the model parameters. The two different strip yield model implemented in NASGRO software were considered. The ratio of simulated to experimental fatigue lives was between 0.71 and 1.52 considering all options and between 0.87 and 1.12 with the best option.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad DPI2012-33382Junta de Andalucía TEP-324

Fiabilización de la carta de propiedad de un vehículo y su aplicación a la red de postventa mediante la tecnología blockchain

La tecnología blockchain inició su recorrido en 2008 de la mano de Bitcoin, una moneda virtual a la que esta tecnología le proporciona unas características únicas: descentralización, transparencia, seguridad y fiabilidad.Con el paso de los años, el concepto de blockchain ha ido evolucionando, dando lugar a cadenas de bloques más complejas, como Ethereum, las cuales permiten la incorporación de programas automatizados y el aseguramiento de mayor diversidad de datos gracias a los Smart contracts.Aprovechando estas características únicas, este trabajo pretende demostrar la aplicabilidad de la tecnología blockchain para ofrecer servicios y gestionar la propiedad de los usuarios, centrándose en el desarrollo de una serie de servicios de postventa para vehículos.Para ello se creará un certificado de propiedad utilizando tokens NTF, los cuales servirán de base para ofrecer un servicio de compraventa de vehículos, un servicio de alquiler y la recopilación de información durante la vida del vehículo en un pasaporte digital. También se estudiará la forma de introducir estas ideas en el mercado de automóviles planteando un modelo de negocio.La tecnología demuestra ser prometedora y ofrece la posibilidad de extender su uso a una gran multitud de ámbitos, sin embargo, se debe seguir trabajando en la escalabilidad de las cadenas de bloques para que pueda generalizarse su aplicación.<br /

La comunicación de expresiones para responder mejor a las necesidades de alumnos con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA)

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG) tuvo el propósito de diseñar un plan de intervención para alumnos con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) en el contexto de Educación Infantil. El objetivo principal de la propuesta es mejorar la comunicación y expresión de las emociones básicas en estos niños, siendo esta una de las dificultades que presentan, por lo que es importante ayudarlos desde una edad temprana a identificarlas y expresarlas. Se realizó revisión bibliográfica que le dio fundamentación teórica a la investigación, y se exploraron las características y dificultades de la comunicación en estos niños. El diseño del plan, se fundamentó en la metodología Tratamiento y Educación de Niños con Autismo y Comunicación (TEACCH), que brinda un enfoque con pasos estructurados y recursos visuales como elementos de apoyo, que son reconocidos como efectivos con estos alumnos. El plan de intervención se diseñó por sesiones de trabajo, por semana y emociones, de manera que las actividades se puedan repetir cuantas veces sea necesario o de adaptar según las necesidades de los pequeños. El mismo puede ser aplicado en aulas regulares de Educación Infantil, ya que es de utilidad para todos los niños. El diseño va de lo individual a lo general, es decir, primero se trabaja cada emoción y luego se van integrando, y así poder diferenciarlas. Se trabajan las emociones básicas, primarias y secundarias. Se incluyen estrategias de comunicación visual, y actividades creativas para explorar y expresar emociones. Se hace énfasis en el refuerzo positivo y la colaboración entre las familias y la escuela. Se consideraron normativas legales y regulaciones establecidas por el Ministerio de Educación y Formación profesional de España, promoviendo una educación inclusiva y equitativa, proporcionando un enfoque práctico y efectivo para apoyar el desarrollo emocional y comunicativo de los niños con TEA. También se considera el período de evaluación, tanto del desarrollo de los estudiantes, como de cada una de las sesiones, que permitan obtener información suficiente para retroalimentar, mejorar el programa y garantizar la efectividad y la adaptabilidad del plan de intervención en diferentes contextos. <br /

3D Ultrastructural Study of Synapses in the Human Entorhinal Cortex

The entorhinal cortex (EC) is a brain region that has been shown to be essential for memory functions and spatial navigation. However, detailed three-dimensional (3D) synaptic morphology analysis and identification of postsynaptic targets at the ultrastructural level have not been performed before in the human EC. In the present study, we used Focused Ion Beam/Scanning Electron Microscopy to perform a 3D analysis of the synapses in the neuropil of medial EC in layers II and III from human brain autopsies. Specifically, we studied synaptic structural parameters of 3561 synapses, which were fully reconstructed in 3D. We analyzed the synaptic density, 3D spatial distribution, and type (excitatory and inhibitory), as well as the shape and size of each synaptic junction. Moreover, the postsynaptic targets of synapses could be clearly determined.
