    ILLOCUTIONARY ACTS IN ABDUR’S STAND UP COMEDY INDONESIA

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini, yang pertama adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kategori tindak ilokusi dan kedua adalah untuk menjelaskan makna tentang tindak ilokusi dari ujarannya Abdur dalam Stand Up Comedy Indonesia season 4. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis ujaran-ujaran Abdur sesuai dengan kategori-kategori dari tindak ilokusi dan menginterpretasikan ujaran-ujaran tersebut. Data diambil dari ujaran-ujaran Abdur dalam video Stand Up Comedy Indonesia season 4. Teori yang digunakan untuk menganalisis kategori-kategori dari tindak ilokusi yaitu menggunakan teori dari Searle (1979) dan untuk menemukan makna menggunakan teori dari Grice (2013).  Hasil menunjukan bahwa ada tiga kategori dalam tindak ilokusi dari ujaran-ujaran Abdur yakni assertive, directive, and expressive category. Banyak ujaran Abdur termasuk dalam assertive category, yakni berbicara tentang seorang pembicara yang berusaha untuk memperoleh atau mendapatkan suatu keyakinan dalam melakukan suatu keyakinan tertentu, yang mana berbicara tentang fakta dari situasi yang ada di Propinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur yang di ekspresikan didalam komedi. Ujaran-ujaran Abdur mempunyai keunikan tersendiri karena ujaran-ujaran tersebut mempunyai makna mendalam yang tersirat didalam komedi

    KEEFEKTIFAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE PICTURE AND PICTURE DAN THINK-PAIR-SHARE DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MENULIS DESKRIPSI

    The current study aimed at investigating (1) a significant difference of cooperative models of picture and picture, think-pair-share, and conventional model, (2) the most significant effectiveness of cooperative models of picture and picture, think-pair-share, and conventional model in learning process of descriptive writing at grade X of the students of SMAK Frateran Ndao Ende. This study belonged to quasi-experimental study with randomized control-group pretest-posttest design. 90 students with 30 students in each class were employed as samples using total sampling technique with three intact classes. The data were a non-test method in the form of a descriptive writing assignment. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA continued by Scheffe test. The upshots of the study denote that (1) there is a significant difference of cooperative models of picture and picture, think-pair-share, and conventional model in the learning process of descriptive writing with F=140.578, and a significant value of p<0.05, (2) cooperative model of think-pair-share is the most effective type in the learning process of descriptive writing

    This study aims at determining the first-grade teacher perception of primary school on the use of bilingual instructions and the impact on students’ learning outcomes. This qualitative study used the first-grade teacher who taught reading and writing in first year students at SDK Pu’ubheto, Ende Sub-district of Ende Regency. The data were collected through in-depth interview, observation and documentation.  The interview document data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the teacher was successfully implementing bilingual instruction. Finally, the implementation of bilingualism by the teacher affected teacher-student interaction and improved students' reading and writing skill and learning outcomes..

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan ungkapan paralel yang digunakan dalam upacara tegù watá yang merupakan upacara tradisional masyarakat Boru sebagai suatu ungkapan syukur atas hasil panen yang diperoleh. Penelitian ini merupakan kajian linguistik kebudayaan yang berlandaskan pada pendekatan antropologi linguistik dan linguistik kebudayaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari data lisan dan tulisan berupa tuturan adat dalam upacara syukur atas hasil panen (Tegù Watá). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode membaca dan wawancara dengan teknik mencatat dan rekaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekspresi paralel yang digunakan dalam upacara Tegù Watá memiliki dua bentuk, yaitu grammatikal paralelisme dan leksikal parallelisme. Adapun lima makna yang terkandung dalam expresi paralel yang digunakan, yakni makna persatuan, harapan untuk kesehatan, harapan untuk kesuksesan, religius, dan kebersamaan. Selain itu, masyarakat Boru juga memiliki pandangan tersendiri kepada Tuhan, leluhur dan kampung halamannya yang terkandung dalam expresi paralel pada upacara tersebut

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis profaniti yang ditemukan dalam film Tony Kaye "American History X" berdasarkan teori Patridge. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari Film 'American History X' dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan kalimat. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara menonton film secara intensif, mengidentifikasi ujaran yang mengandung profaniti yang digunakan oleh karakter dan menulis kata-kata yang ditemukan dalam film. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam film "American History X" oleh Tony Kaye terdapat ada lima tipe yang ditemukan, yaitu seven dirty words, strong other words, excretory words, sexual words, dan mild other words

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fase-fase culture shock dan penyebabnya yang dialami Christopher McCandless. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pendekatan psikologis diadopsi untuk menganalisis fase dan penyebab culture shock. Data diambil dari film Into the Wild yang dialami oleh tokoh utama, Christopher McCandless. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat fase culture shock yang dialami Christopher McCandless dalam film Into the Wild, yaitu fase bulan madu, fase krisis, fase pemulihan, dan fase penyesuaian.     The Effect of Indirect Coded versus Indirect Non-Coded Corrective Feedback on Improving Students’ Grammatical Accuracy of EFL Writing Class

    The current research aimed at investigating (1) a significant difference of effectiveness that indirect coded CF and indirect non-coded CF have on improving grammatical accuracy with self-editing in the second draft of writing under teachers’ correction, (2) a significant difference of effectiveness using indirect coded CF, indirect non-coded CF, and that of control group on improving grammatical accuracy in the second draft of writing, (3) a significant difference of effectiveness that indirect coded CF and indirect non-coded CF have on improving grammatical accuracy in a new draft of writing, (4) a significant difference of effectiveness using indirect coded CF, indirect non-coded CF, and that of control group on improving grammatical accuracy in a new draft of writing. Self-editing strategy was utilized as the major criteria for assessing students’ writing accuracy. This research belonged to quasi-experiment with pretest posttest nonequivalent design. To conduct the research, 54 students majoring at English Letters study Program in Flores University were selected as the samples of the research. The three intact classes with 18 students of each class were randomly assigned to three groups, i.e., indirect coded corrective feedback group, indirect non-coded corrective feedback group, and control group. Free writing, as the major source of data, involved seven different topics. The scoring scheme adopted based on the basis of five broad categories; content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics of writing that the students’ handwriting were set at 100. Two periods of posttest were settled as immediate and delayed posttests. The students in all groups were, in immediate posttest, required to write with self-editing the second drafts based on the indirect corrective feedback received from the teachers (control group received no corrective feedback), and then the students were involved in a new draft of writing in delayed posttest. The instrument reliability was assessed by the inter-rater technique. The data were analyzed by running ANCOVA continued by post hoc Scheffe analysis. The upshots of the research denote; firstly, indirect coded CF and indirect non-coded CF have a significant difference of effectiveness on improving students’ grammatical accuracy in the second draft with self-editing strategy; secondly, indirect coded CF is more effective than the use of indirect non-coded CF, and that of control group in the second draft with self-editing strategy; thirdly, indirect coded CF and indirect non-coded CF have a significant different in a new draft of students’ writing; fourthly, indirect coded CF is more effective than the use of indirect non coded CF, and that of control group in a new draft of writing

Free writing was the major source of data. The scoring scheme adopted based on the five categories; content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. The instrument reliability was assessed by the inter-rater technique. ANCOVA was to analyze data continued by post-hoc Scheffe.     Artikel ini membahas tentang kesiapan mahasiswa dalam implementasi MBKM. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pemahaman Mahasiswa Program Studi Sastra Inggris Universitas Flores tentang Mereka Belajar- Kampus Merdeka. Penelitian dilakukan dengan melakukan survei kepada 112 Mahasiswa. Mahasiswa mengisi kuesioner melalui aplikasi SPADA Dikti, kemudian data dideskripsikan dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemahaman mahasiswa tentang MBKM belum merata, hal ini disebabkan sosialisasi dari program studi dan fakultas belum dilakukan secara baik. Mahasiswa mendapat pengetahuan tentang MBKM melalui media sosial. Kegiatan di luar program studi yang paling banyak diminati oleh mahasiswa adalah kegiatan kewirausahaan sebesar 46.70% dan kesiapan mahasiswa untuk ikut dalam kegiatan MBKM sebesar 66.10% dan kuatir akan mengeluarkan biaya sebesar 58%. Hasil suvei menunjukkan bahwa MBKM bermanfaat meningkatkan soft skill. 58.8% mahasiswa tertarik mempelajari panduan MBKM dan kurikulum yang memfasilitasi MBKM  dan  akan merekomendasikan MBKM kepada mahasiswa lain dan koleganya dalam kategori sedang. Sosialisasi perlu dilakukan kepada mahasiswa secara berjenjang agar pemahaman MBKM dapat secara utuh dipahami, sehingga akan berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas/kompetensi diri
