Una historia (peculiar) de la fotografía contemporánea en España en imágenes

RESUMEN DE CONFERENCIARafael Doctor, reputado gestor y comisario de arte contemporáneo, y Director de Programas del Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía, establece un recorrido por la fotografía española contemporánea que traza como un arco entre las prácticas autorreferenciales de Alberto García Alix, y el interés por la otredad de Cristina García Rodero. En el abanico intermedio entre ambos artistas, sitúa una gran variedad de actitudes, modos y prácticas de la fotografía que comprenden, entre otros muchos, los discursos de Judith Prat, Clemente Bernard, Gervasio Sánchez, Carlos Spotormo, Estela de Castro, Manolo Espaliú, Cristina de Middel, Lola Guerrera, María Cañas, Laia Abril, Camino Laguillo, etc. Una vez planteada esta posible historia de la fotografía contemporánea en España, volcada al plano de las políticas de la representación y de la militancia del fotógrafo en la visibilización de conflictos y desigualdades sociales, se abre un fértil debate, que precede a un descanso. Tras éste, dedica la segunda parte de la sesión a explicar el proyecto Capital Animal, que vincula arte contemporáneo y defensa de los animales desde el activismo animalista, mostrando distintas exposiciones en las que desarrolla el discurso que implica esta cosmovisión inclusiva en la que nos reconocemos como cohabitantes del planeta respetando la dignidad y derecho a la vida de los seres no humanos. Esta parte parte de la intervención despierta un muy especial interés en el público, que la hace alargarse hasta las cinco horas de duración incluyendo un magnífico debate e intercambio de experiencias y enfoques al respecto por parte de todos.Universidad de Málaga. Developing the practice context to enable more effective pain management with older people: an action research approach

Background\ud \ud This paper, which draws upon an Emancipatory Action Research (EAR) approach, unearths how the complexities of context influence the realities of nursing practice. While the intention of the project was to identify and change factors in the practice context that inhibit effective person-centred pain management practices with older people (65 years or older), reflective critical engagement with the findings identified that enhancing pain management practices with older people was dependent on cultural change in the unit as a whole. \ud \ud Methods\ud \ud An EAR approach was utilised. The project was undertaken in a surgical unit that conducted complex abdominal surgery. Eighty-five percent (n = 48) of nursing staff participated in the two-year project (05/NIR02/107). Data were obtained through the use of facilitated critical reflection with nursing staff. \ud \ud Results\ud \ud Three key themes (psychological safety, leadership, oppression) and four subthemes (power, horizontal violence, distorted perceptions, autonomy) were found to influence the way in which effective nursing practice was realised. Within the theme of 'context,' effective leadership and the creation of a psychologically safe environment were key elements in the enhancement of all aspects of nursing practice. \ud \ud Conclusions\ud \ud Whilst other research has identified the importance of 'practice context' and models and frameworks are emerging to address this issue, the theme of 'psychological safety' has been given little attention in the knowledge translation/implementation literature. Within the principles of EAR, facilitated reflective sessions were found to create 'psychologically safe spaces' that supported practitioners to develop effective person-centred nursing practices in complex clinical environments

Funciones esenciales de la salud pública

Las Funciones Esenciales de Salud Pública (FESP) describen el espectro de competencias y acciones necesarias por parte de los sistemas de salud para alcanzar el objetivo central, que es el mejorar la salud de las poblaciones. La Organización Panamericana de la Salud por medio de la Iniciativa "La Salud Pública en las Américas", definió once (11) FESP y desarrolló un instrumento para medir su desempeño, lo que permite a los países realizar una auto-evaluación de sus capacidades para ejercer la salud pública. Especial atención merece, dentro de esta FESP, la investigación en salud pública, la promoción de la salud, la participación social así como el monitoreo, evaluación y análisis de los problemas de salud de la población. Estas funciones son algunos de los temas centrales de la Revista Venezolana de salud Pública contribuyendo así, a través de sus artículos científicos a divulgarlas y fortalecerlas.  De igual manera la difusión continua de conocimientos sobre estos tópicos ayuda a incidir sobre otras de sus funciones como son la formación de recursos humanos en salud colectiva y en la vigilancia, investigación y control de problemas sanitarios

Firmware developments on the TileCoM for the Phase-II Upgrade of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter

The Tile Computer on Module (TileCoM) mezzanine board is one of the auxiliary boards of the Tile PreProcessor (TilePPr) for the Phase-II Upgrade of the readout electronics of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter. This board will be responsible for interfacing the Trigger Data Acquisition (TDAQ) system and TilePPr for system monitoring and configuration. This includes configuration and monitoring of the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) carrier and Compact Processing Module (CPM) onboard sensors through I2C and Gigabit Ethernet. This contribution presents firmware developments on an embedded Linux for the ZYNQ System-on-Chip (SoC) targeting an Avnet Ultra96-V2 Zynq UltraScale+MPSoC evaluation board. This test bench will serve as a basis for the development of the main functionalities of the TileCoM mezzanine board to interface TilePPr with Detector Control System (DCS) and TDAQ system of the Tile Calorimeter

DLP: A tool to develop technical and soft skills in engineering

This article describes how to develop and implement a tool that enables engineering students to acquire soft-skills taking advantage of the purely technical engineering educational tasks. Delphi Learning Package (DLP) tool is based on a Delphi strategic consulting method. Generally, this method is used to obtain long-term forecasts from knowledge of groups of experts. Some adjustments have been made to Delphi method in order to apply it to learning and acquiring soft-skills in engineering. For instance, this tool can be used to guide students toward obtaining key parameters for a technical matter or to find the best solutions to an intricate multiple-solution problem. Thus, students will have to use not only knowledge learned on the subject of engineering, but also knowledge resulting from handling-related documentation. By tackling a multiple-solution problem, students develop different soft skills such as critical thinking, synthesis ability, inference, and argumentation. In order to judge the value of this tool, two pilot projects have been developed involving fourth year students with a major in Telecommunications Engineering.
