    Get PDF
"As developing countries open their economies further to trade, their food industries are striving to raise safety and quality standards in order to compete in new markets. Such is the case with the Colombian poultry industry... Critical questions face the Colombian poultry industry: Is it ready to compete with foreign poultry producers on price, quality, and safety? Can industry efforts to produce better quality products assure an increased share of domestic and regional markets? This brief reviews the private initiatives undertaken by the Colombian poultry industry to assure food safety in light of these questions." from TextFood safety ,food security ,Public health ,

Los Simón Bolívar de Fernando González y Evelio Rosero: del mito cósmico al caudillo genocida en la novela histórica colombiana (Tema Central)

    Get PDF

    Get PDF

Diboson anomaly: Heavy Higgs resonance and QCD vector-like exotics

    Get PDF
peer reviewedThe ATLAS collaboration (and also CMS) has recently reported an excess over Standard Model expectations for gauge boson pair production in the invariant mass region 1.8−2.2 TeV. In the light of these results, we argue that such signal might be the first manifestation of the production and further decay of a heavy CP-even Higgs resulting from a type-I Two Higgs Doublet Model. We demonstrate that in the presence of colored vector-like fermions, its gluon fusion production cross section is strongly enhanced, with the enhancement depending on the color representation of the new fermion states. Our findings show that barring the color triplet case, any QCD "exotic" representation can fit the ATLAS result in fairly large portions of the parameter space. We have found that if the diboson excess is confirmed and this mechanism is indeed responsible for it, then the LHC Run-2 should find: (i) a CP-odd scalar with mass below ∼2.3 TeV, (ii) new colored states with masses below ∼2 TeV, (iii) no statistically significant diboson events in the W±Z channel, (iv) events in the triboson channels W±W∓Z and ZZZ with invariant mass amounting to the mass of the CP-odd scalar

Leptonic Charged Higgs Decays in the Zee Model

We consider the version of the Zee model where both Higgs doublets couple to leptons. Within this framework we study charged Higgs decays. We focus on a model with minimal number of parameters consistent with experimental neutrino data. Using constraints from neutrino physics we (i) discuss the reconstruction of the parameter space of the model using the leptonic decay patterns of both of the two charged Higgses, h1,2+j+νih_{1,2}^{+}\to \ell_{j}^{+}\nu_{i}, and the decay of the heavier charged Higgs, h2+h1+h0h_{2}^{+}\to h^{+}_{1}h^{0}; (ii) show that the decay rate Γ(h1+μ+νi)\Gamma(h_{1}^{+}\to \mu^{+}\nu_{i}) in general is enhanced in comparision to the standard two Higgs doublet model while in some regions of parameter space Γ(h1+μ+νi)\Gamma(h_{1}^{+}\to \mu^{+}\nu_{i}) even dominates over Γ(h1+τ+νi)\Gamma(h_{1}^{+}\to \tau^{+}\nu_{i}).Comment: 25 pages, 9 figure

    Variations on leptogenesis

We study variations of the standard leptogenesis scenario that can arise if an additional mass scale related to the breaking of some new symmetry (as for example a flavor or the B–L symmetry) is present below the mass MN1 of the lightest right-handed Majorana neutrino. Our scheme is inspired by U(1) models of flavor à la Froggatt–Nielsen, and involves new vectorlike heavy fields F. We show that depending on the specific hierarchy between MN1 and the mass scale of the fields F, qualitatively different realizations of leptogenesis can emerge. We compute the CP asymmetries in N1 decays in all the relevant cases, and we conclude that in most situations leptogenesis could be viable at scales much lower than in the standard scenario

    R-parity violating sneutrino decays

    Get PDF
R-parity can be violated through either bilinear and/or trilinear terms in the superpotential. The decay properties of sneutrinos can be used to obtain information about the relative importance of these couplings provided sneutrinos are the lightest supersymmetric particles. We show that in some specific scenarios it is even possible to decide whether bilinear or trilinear terms give the dominant contribution to the neutrino mass matrix

Experimental tests for the Babu-Zee two-loop model of Majorana neutrino masses

    Get PDF
The smallness of the observed neutrino masses might have a radiative origin. Here we revisit a specific two-loop model of neutrino mass, independently proposed by Babu and Zee. We point out that current constraints from neutrino data can be used to derive strict lower limits on the branching ratio of flavour changing charged lepton decays, such as μeγ\mu \to e \gamma. Non-observation of Br(μeγ\mu \to e \gamma) at the level of 101310^{-13} would rule out singly charged scalar masses smaller than 590 GeV (5.04 TeV) in case of normal (inverse) neutrino mass hierarchy. Conversely, decay branching ratios of the non-standard scalars of the model can be fixed by the measured neutrino angles (and mass scale). Thus, if the scalars of the model are light enough to be produced at the LHC or ILC, measuring their decay properties would serve as a direct test of the model as the origin of neutrino masses.Comment: 14 pages, 16 figure

    Purely Flavored Leptogenesis

peer reviewedWe study a model for leptogenesis in which the total CP asymmetries in the decays and scatterings involving the SU(2) singlet seesaw neutrinos Nα vanish (ϵNα=0). Leptogenesis is possible due to nonvanishing CP violating lepton flavor asymmetries, realizing a situation in which the baryon asymmetry is due exclusively to flavor effects. We study the production of a net lepton asymmetry by solving the Boltzmann equations specific to this model, and we show that successful leptogenesis can be obtained at a scale as low as the TeV. We also discuss constraints on the model parameter space arising from current experimental upper limits on lepton flavor violating decays
