"Active Methodologies, An Important Educational Tool In Collaborative Learning In First Year Students In Their Professional Medical Career".
The study describes the contribution of the active methodology as an important tool in the development of collaborative learning, using different technological didactic methods that seek to provide and/or assume challenges, solve academic-professional problems in an integral and joint way seeking to assume responsibilities to achieve their professional objectives. In this context, the research aims to demonstrate how active methodologies influence the collaborative learning of students in the first year of studies of their professional medical career. This is an experimental-correlational research, with the application of different active methodologies in class, observation cards and different evaluative resources graded individually and in groups to demonstrate the improvement of collaborative learning in the studied population. The sample was formed by 2 groups (group A of 36 students, without the research variables and group B of 32 students, with the dependent and independent variable), during 5 weeks that lasts the unit 3 of the regular cycle, both groups were analyzed and studied at the same time applying the research variables in one and not in the other. From the results obtained in group A at the end of the unit: 28% of students passed and 72% of students failed. The results obtained in group B at the end of the unit 90% of students passed and 10% of students failed, which allowed to affirm that the active methodologies, both in active teaching strategies based on information and communication technologies, significantly influence the collaborative learning of medical students for their development and benefit in the professional environment.
A Novel PMSM Hybrid Sensorless Control Strategy for EV Applications Based on PLL and HFI
In this paper, a novel hybrid sensorless control strategy for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) drives applied to Electric Vehicles (EV) is presented. This sensorless strategy covers the EV full speed range and also has speed reversal capability. It combines a High Frequency Injection (HFI) technique for low and zero speeds, and a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) for the medium and high speed regions. A solution to achieve smooth transitions between the PLL and the HFI strategies is also proposed, allowing to correctly detect the rotor position polarity when HFI takes part. Wide speed and torque four-quadrant simulation results are provided, which validate the proposed sensorless strategy for being further implemented in EV.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
IPMSM torque control strategies based on LUTs and VCT feedback for robust control under machine parameter variations
In recent years, Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous
Machines (IPMSMs) have attracted a considerable
attention in the scientific community and industry for Electric
and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) propulsion systems. Lookup
Table (LUT) based Field Oriented Control (FOC) strategies
are widely used for IPMSM torque control. However, LUTs
strongly depend on machine parameters. Deviations of these
parameters due to machine ageing, temperature or manufacturing
inaccuracies can lead to control instabilities in the field
weakening region. In this paper, two novel hybrid IPMSM
control strategies combining the usage of LUTs and Voltage
Constraint Tracking (VCT) feedbacks are proposed in order to
overcome the aforementioned controllability issues. Simulation
results that demonstrate the validity of the proposed approaches
are presented.Postprint (author's final draft
Assessment of the governance dimension in the frame of the 2030 agenda: Evidence from 100 Spanish cities
The 2030 Agenda highlights the importance of governance to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). However, we observe that there is an underestimation of the governance dimension in the SDG indices. The reasons are twofold. Firstly, indices assign a lower weight to governance compared to the other dimensions of sustainability. Secondly, most governance indicators do not measure the relational dynamics that underlie sustainable development policies. The aim of this study is thus to provide alternative methods for a more accurate assessment of the governance dimension in the frame of the 2030 Agenda. With this purpose, we examine the performance of 100 Spanish cities on the SDGs included in the first report elaborated by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Spain in 2018. Using this data, we first develop a methodology to rebalance the current underestimation of the governance dimension, comparing its impact on the SDG performance of these cities. Secondly, we build a new indicator of ‘Strategic Culture’ to get a more accurate measure of governance in urban contexts. As a result, the study validates the proposed methods and provides evidence that better performance on sustainable development is favored by the implementation of strategic planning processes
Microclimate, an important part of ecology and biogeography
Brief introduction: What are microclimates and why are they important?Microclimate science has developed into a global discipline. Microclimate science is increasingly used to understand and mitigate climate and biodiversity shifts. Here, we provide an overview of the current status of microclimate ecology and biogeography in terrestrial ecosystems, and where this field is heading next.Microclimate investigations in ecology and biogeography: We highlight the latest research on interactions between microclimates and organisms, including how microclimates influence individuals, and through them populations, communities and entire ecosystems and their processes. We also briefly discuss recent research on how organisms shape microclimates from the tropics to the poles.Microclimate applications in ecosystem management: Microclimates are also important in ecosystem management under climate change. We showcase new research in microclimate management with examples from biodiversity conservation, forestry and urban ecology. We discuss the importance of microrefugia in conservation and how to promote microclimate heterogeneity. Methods for microclimate science: We showcase the recent advances in data acquisition, such as novel field sensors and remote sensing methods. We discuss microclimate modelling, mapping and data processing, including accessibility of modelling tools, advantages of mechanistic and statistical modelling and solutions for computational challenges that have pushed the state-of-the-art of the field. What's next?We identify major knowledge gaps that need to be filled for further advancing microclimate investigations, applications and methods. These gaps include spatiotemporal scaling of microclimate data, mismatches between macroclimate and microclimate in predicting responses of organisms to climate change, and the need for more evidence on the outcomes of microclimate management
