    Establishment of a broad-spectrum marker for er1/PsMLO1 powdery mildew resistance in pea (Pisum sativum L.)

    O oídio, causado pelo fungo ascomycete Erysiphe pisi Syd, é uma das doenças mais importantes que afectam a produção de ervilha (Pisum sativum L.) em Portugal e em países por todo o mundo (Sousa, 1999). Esta doença prospera em climas húmidos temperados causando perdas até 50% nas colheitas de ervilha, uma leguminosa muito importante e vastamente cultivada na Europa, sendo a quarta mais cultivada em todo o mundo (Rubiales et al., 2009; Warkentin et al., 1996).Powdery mildew caused by the biotrophic ascomycete fungus Erysiphe pisi Syd. is one the most devastating diseases of (Pisum sativum L.) with a considerable impact in seed production. So far, the most efficient genetic resistance to this disease identified is conferred by the naturally occurring or experimentally induced by chemical mutagenesis recessive state of the locus er1. Identified over 6 decades ago and genetically mapped to the Pisum sativum Linkage Group VI over 20 years ago, this gene was recently identified as a homolog of the barley (Hordeum sativum L.) powdery mildew resistance gene MLO, and renamed as PsMLO1. The broad spectrum resistance conferred by the er1/PsMLO1 locus was found to be a consequence of the loss of function of the encoded PsMLO1 protein. After the publication of the expressed sequence of this gene by another research group, we published the genomic sequence of this gene, which harbors a relatively long (TA) microsatellite sequence (SSR) in the fifth intron. SSR markers based on this highly polymorphic microsatellite can be used for marker-assisted selection in multiple pea powdery mildew resistance breeding programs involving the er1/ PsMLO1 resistance, except in the rare circumstances where the progenitor lines are monomorphic for the microsatellite sequence.     Find the best way to communicate to clients is a challenges for all company. Challenge and aim: Premium Nutrition Counselling was a North Portugal DEMOLA co-creation case propose together with CryoslimClinic company. CryoslimClinic offers aesthetic services and nutrition consultations, has two employees and is headquartered in the city of Bragança. This company is satisfied with its client portfolio in the area of aesthetics, but would like to expand its clientele in the area of nutrition. So, the aim of this co-creation process was find a better communication canal to communicate with nutrition consultation clients. Methods: To better understand the challenge, field visits were made to the company, analyzes of the company's communication channels with its customers and the application of a questionnaire with potential customers. Ideation was carried out with support to the DEMOLA co-creation process, including validating the idea with specialists in Marketing. Finds: The company does not yet have a functioning website, but use social media: a Facebook page and two Instagram channels (aesthetic and nutrition). Different images for each of the social networks are used, with no interconnection between them or a direct link to the company logo. The number and frequency of publications is not homogeneous and depends on the time availability of the business owner. There is no marketing professional working with the client.     Distributed active traction control system applied to the RoboCup middle size league

    This work addresses the problem of traction control in mobile wheeled robots in the particular case of the RoboCup Middle Size League (MSL). The slip control problem is formulated using simple friction models for ISePorto Team robots with a differential wheel configuration. Traction was also characterized experimentally in the MSL scenario for relevant game events. This work proposes a hierarchical traction control architecture which relies in local slip detection and control at each wheel, with relevant information being relayed to a higher level responsible for global robot motion control. A dedicated one axis control embedded hardware subsystem allowing complex local control, high frequency current sensing and odometric information procession was developed. This local axis control board is integrated in a distributed system using CAN bus communications. The slipping observer was implemented in the axis control hardware nodes integrated in the ISePorto robots and was used to control and detect loss of for traction. %and to detect the ball in the kicking device.     This paper explores two changes in traditional models that measure the exchange rate pass-through in Brazil. The first change is a non-linear specification to the pass-through coefficient, making it depend on other variables that reflect economic conditions. The second change is to consider different components of the consumer price index, in search for transmission mechanisms of the exchange rate pass-through to prices. The empirical evidence obtained in the period between the quarter of 1994 and the last quarter 2001 suggests the existence of different non-linear mechanism among different price groups.

    Argamassas de cal hidráulica natural NHL3.5 com metacaulino – Caracterização após três anos em cura laboratorial e marítima

    A presente dissertação enquadra-se num estudo que esteve inserido nos projetos FCT-METACAL e FCT-LIMECONTECH, e cujos resultados foram já parcialmente publicados por GRILO et al. (2014a e 2014b). Nesse estudo produziram-se e caraterizaram-se, aos 28, 90 e 180 dias, argamassas de cal hidráulica natural, NHL3.5 produzida em Portugal, com substituições percentuais de ligante por metacaulino (Mk). Outro fator estudado foi a influência do tipo de cura, estando as amostras das argamassas sujeitas a 3 tipos de cura diferentes: standard, marítima e húmida. Aos 180 dias de cura, as argamassas com 10% de substituição de Mk apresentaram melhorias nas resistências mecânicas e melhorias evidentes no comportamento em relação à absorção de água e secagem. No geral as características das argamassas indiciavam a sua adequação para a conservação de fachadas de edifícios antigos e aplicação na reabilitação de edifícios com suportes mais resistentes ou mesmo em construção nova. No presente estudo foram caracterizadas as mesmas argamassas, desta feita com 3 anos de idade, e avaliada a evolução das suas caraterísticas até esta idade em cura marítima e húmida. Ao contrário do previsto, as resistências mecânicas das argamassas com substituição de metacaulino tiveram reduções nos seus valores, chegando, em alguns casos, a ficar abaixo dos valores das argamassas sem Mk. Pela caracterização química e mineralógica constata-se que essa redução foi motivada pela instabilidade dos compostos pozolânicos formados pelo Mk, embora esses compostos tenham sido os responsáveis pelas elevadas resistências mecânicas registadas a idades jovens. As argamassas com Mk apresentaram um melhor comportamento à água, devido ao refinamento da sua estrutura porosa. Dos ensaios realizados apenas o índice de secagem e o ensaio de resistência aos sais revelaram resultados piores nas argamassas com Mk, quando em comparação com as argamassas de referência, só com NHL. Em relação ao tipo de cura, verificou-se não existirem grandes diferenças entre a cura húmida e a marítima

    The use of robotic vehicles for environmental modeling is discussed. This paper presents diverse results in autonomous marine missions with the ROAZ autonomous surface vehicle. The vehicle can perform autonomous missions while gathering marine data with high inertial and positioning precision. The underwater world is an, economical and environmental, asset that need new tools to study and preserve it. ROAZ is used in marine environment missions since it can sense and monitor the surface and underwater scenarios. Is equipped with a diverse set of sensors, cameras and underwater sonars that generate 3D environmental models. It is used for study the marine life and possible underwater wrecks that can pollute or be a danger to marine navigation. The 3D model and integration of multibeam and sidescan sonars represent a challenge in nowadays. Adding that it is important that robots can explore an area and make decisions based on their surroundings and goals. Regard that, autonomous robotic systems can relieve human beings of repetitive and dangerous tasks

    Real-time 3D Mine Modelling in the ¡VAMOS! Project

    The project Viable Alternative Mine Operating System (¡VAMOS!) develops a new safe, clean and low visibility mining technique for excavating raw materials from submerged inland mines. During operations, the perception data of the mining vehicle can only be communicated to the operator via a computer interface. In order to assist remote control and facilitate assessing risks a detailed view of the mining process below the water surface is necessary. This paper presents approaches to real-time 3D reconstruction of the mining environment for immersive data visualisation in a virtual reality environment to provide advanced spatial awareness. From the raw survey data a more consistent 3D model is created using postprocessing techniques based on a continuous-time simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) solution. Signed distance function (SDF) based mapping is employed to fuse the measurements from multiple views into a single representation and reduce sensor noise. Results of the proposed techniques are demonstrated on a dataset captured in an submerged inland mine

    No artigo, colocamos em questão o projeto político que orientou a burguesia industrial no debate sobre relações de trabalho no contexto das eleições presidenciais de 2022. Tomando como referência as propostas da Confederação Nacional da Indústria (CNI) sobre relações de trabalho, apresentadas aos principais candidatos à presidência da República em 2022, analisamos as concepções políticas e ideológicas presentes nos posicionamentos da burguesia industrial no Brasil sobre as formas de regulação das relações entre capital e trabalho. Ao final, argumentamos que o projeto político que orientou a burguesia industrial no debate sobre relações de trabalho está assentado nos pressupostos da desregulamentação, da privatização e da flexibilização, concorrendo para uma crescente pavimentação dos caminhos que precarizam as condições de trabalho e de vida das pessoas que vivem do trabalho no Brasil
