“El vino pone a prueba el carácter” (XI, 232): epigramas convivales en Antología Palatina.

Antología Palatina XI reúne 442 epigramas sympotiká y skōptiká, de convite y de burla, anónimos y de autores conocidos, variados en estimación, geografía, época y calidad poética. De ese total, un 15% de poemas canta al vino y a su tenaz presencia en la vida humana, según distintos enfoques, intenciones y tonos: festivos unos, más serios otros, ellos testimonian el regocijo de su ingesta -mayor aún en buena compañía-, la fuerza estimulante y la compensación ante penurias y vicisitudes pero, en contraposición, registran el hecho de ser causa de discordias, el riesgo ante su abuso y el rechazo despreciativo a su mala calidad. A partir de la selección matizada de dieciséis textos y la traducción personal de cada original griego, esta investigación sostiene que el vino induce a consideraciones antagónicas, las cuales se ofrecen como un código complejo y plural a un auditorio en ocasión precisamente de un banquete. Tal aserto será justificado mediante el análisis integrado de los componentes artísticos, la conformación de una red léxica específica y la valoración de estos documentos peculiares y de carácter universal. Se prevé como resultado un aporte mediador para la comprensión crítico-reflexiva de los epigramas elegidos.Greek Anthology XI includes 442 sympotiká and skōptiká epigrams, of banquet and of jeer, anonymous and on known authors, diverse in estimation, geography, time and poetical quality. Of this total, 15% of poems sings to the wine and to its tenacious presence in the human life, according to different approaches, intentions and tones: festive some, more serious others, they attest witness to the joy of its ingestion -even better in good company-, the stimulant force and the compensation before pain and ups and downs but, in opposition, register the fact of being a cause of disagreement, the risk of its abuse and the scornful rejection to the bad quality. From the selection of sixteen texts and the personal translation of each original Greek source, this investigation holds that the wine induces to antagonistic considerations, which are offered as a complex and plural code to an audience in occasion precisely as a banquet. Such an assertion will be justified through the integrated analysis of the artistic components, the conformation of a lexical specific net and the valuation of these peculiar documents of universal character. A mediated contribution is foreseen as a result for the critical-reflexive understanding of the chosen epigrams

Group cognitive intervention targeted to the strengthening of executive functions in children at social risk

El presente trabajo se propuso evaluar la efectividad de una intervencion cognitiva grupal destinada a promover las funciones ejecutivas en ninos en riesgo social. Se utilizo un diseño cuasi-experimental pretest–postest congrupo control. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 178 ninos argentinos (52% varones) de 6 a 10 anos de edad. Se empleo una batería de tests neuropsicologicos y una escala de funcionamiento ejecutivo versión docente. La intervencion incluyó 30 sesiones grupales, de dificultad creciente y se inserto dentro de la currícula escolar. Los niños entrenados evidenciaron un mejor desempeño en flexibilidad cognitiva, planificación, metacognición y control inhibitorio en comparacion con su desempeño basal y sus controles. Estos resultados aportan nueva evidencia sobre la efectividad de las intervenciones cognitivas infantiles y su capacidad para transferir las mejoras cognitivas a las actividades cotidianas de los ninos en el ámbito escolar.The present study set out to evaluate the effectiveness of a group cognitive intervention aimed at promoting executive functions in children at social risk. The quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest design included a control group. The sample was made up of 178 children (52% boys), aged 6-10. The children were evaluated by means of a battery of neuropsychological EF tests and a teacher-rated behavioral EF scale. The intervention program included 30 group cognitive stimulation sessions that increased in difficulty and were embedded into school curricula. Trained children performed better in terms of cognitive flexibility, planning, metacognition and inhibitory control, as compared to their baseline values and to children in the control group. This study provides new evidence of the effectiveness of cognitive interventions for children and of children's capability to transfer cognitive improvements to daily school activities.Fil: Korzeniowski, Celina Graciela. Evaluating doctoral students’ conceptions on academic writing

El propósito de este artículo es presentar una escala orientada a evaluar las concepciones de escritura académica de estudiantes de doctorado y a ponderar las cualidades psicométricas -confiabilidad y discriminación de los ítems- que habilita el tamaño de la muestra. Se conforma de 33 ítems referidos a la naturaleza y funciones de la escritura y a las estrategias recursivas de planificación, textualización y revisión: 24 traducidos y adaptados de instrumentos estandarizados y 9 desarrollados ad hoc. Estos últimos se distribuyen en dos subescalas: escritura como Elaboración (17 ítems) y como Reproducción (16 ítems). En una muestra piloto de 39 doctorandos en Educación de Argentina (Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, y Universidad Católica de Cuyo, sedes San Juan y San Luis) se aplica el instrumento en forma auto-administrada, vía correo electrónico, previo consentimiento del alumnado. La escala muestra índices considerables de confiabilidad según el alfa de Cronbach: un coeficiente de 0,93 para la subescala Elaboración y de 0,91 para la escritura como Reproducción. También, evidencia que resultan discriminativos todos los ítems de la primera y el 87,5% de los ítems de la segunda. Su potencial utilidad reside en que las concepciones de escritura, un área de investigación de escaso desarrollo, ejercen un fuerte papel mediador en los procesos cognitivo-lingüísticos, en las actitudes hacia la escritura y en la motivación, los cuales -a su turno- influyen en las actividades escriturales. De allí la necesidad de que el doctorando sustituya el enfoque superficial (41% en nuestra muestra) por el profundo).The purpose of this paper is to present a scale aimed to assessing the conceptions on academic writing of PhD students and to weight the psychometric qualities -reliability and discrimination of items- that enables sample size. It is made up of 33 items related to the nature and functions of writing and to the recursive strategies of planning, textualization, and revision: 24 translated into Spanish and adapted from standardized instruments, and 9 developed ad hoc. This set is divided into two subscales: writing as Elaboration (17 items) and as Reproduction (16 items). Using a pilot sample of 39 PhD students in Education of Argentina (Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, and Universidad Católica de Cuyo, at San Juan and San Luis), the instrument was selfadministered, via email, with prior consent of the students. It showed considerable reliability indices according to Cronbach alpha: a coefficient of 0.93 for Elaboration subscale and of 0.91 for writing as Reproduction. It also showed that all the items of the first and 87.5% of the second are discriminative. Its potential usefulness is that conceptions on writing, a research area of poor development, have a strong mediating role in cognitive-linguistic processes, attitudes towards writing, and motivation; which also affect writing activities. A diacronic look on female education in greek and latin antiquity

El artículo esboza las principales características de la educación de la mujer desde Homero al imperio romano, analizando la incidencia de algunos factores, culturales sociales y políticos que dificultan, retardan o impulsan la instrucción, mediante la consulta de fuentes literarias, filosóficas e históricas representativas. Se hace especial hincapié en la ayuda que ejercen unas mujeres sobre otras para el perfeccionamiento educativo.The article outlines the main features of women education from Homer to the Roman Empire, analyzing the incidence of some social, political and cultural factors that hinder, retard or promote instruction, by exploring representative literary, philosophical and historical sources. Presencia de la fruta en la literatura griega antigua

Este artículo intenta demostrar la sostenida presencia de la fruta en fuentes literarias griegas, desde aspectos complementarios: en los epítetos y atributos de los dioses -e incluso en su nacimiento-,en alusiones retóricas como símbolos y comparaciones, en su decidida participación en diferentes géneros, con excepción de la épica, porque Homero será motivo de una inmediata investigación posterior. El estudio comienza con un breve listado de términos vinculados con καρπός, vocablo que contiene estas cuatro acepciones -de hecho, semejantes al uso español-: fruto, grano, semilla; producto (cría de un animal); articulación de la mano y del brazo, carpo, puño; fruto, ganancia, provecho, renta. Íntimamente vinculado con el vocabulario, se ha optado por cuatro géneros literarios y de cada uno se eligen, a su vez, unos pocos representantes con el propósito de detectar y analizar las referencias a frutos y frutales y su alcance artístico. Se priorizará, en esta entrega, la lírica arcaica, la poesía bucólica, el epigrama y la epístola. El trabajo plantea la revisión de tal corpus, la selección y la traducción directa y personal de los originales griegos, de los cuales se silencia el análisis filológico y estético por razones de enfoque. Octavius, the Augustus, in the Palatine Anthology

Los epigramas contenidos en la Antología Palatina conforman tan vasto repertorio de autores, temas, enfoques, tonos, que no extraña encontrar ejemplos vinculados con protagonistas históricos poderosos, ubicados en algún momento de una prolongada franja temporal que abarca desde el VII a. C. a plena época bizantina. Cualquiera haya sido la intención más o menos disimulada para componerlos o para solicitar que fueran escritos por profesionales, devienen valiosos documentos que relacionan Literatura e Historia y que nos permiten acceder al siempre sugestivo comportamiento humano en poesías quintaesenciadas que censuran, enaltecen o adulan al personaje de turno y a sus familiares. Son murmullos pretéritos, prontos a favorecer la rearticulación pasado-presente. Así, por ejemplo, Crinágoras de Mitilene y Filipo de Tesalónica, epigramatistas de la época augústea patrocinados por los círculos aristocráticos e influyentes de Roma, dedican varias de sus creaciones a César Augusto Octavio, el primer emperador, y lo caracterizan mediante atributos políticos y/o religiosos. Esta investigación exploratorio-analítica se sustenta en la selección de un corpus de diez poemas, la traducción directa del original griego, la jerarquización del contenido manifiesto del discurso y la valoración de una literatura condicionada y clientelar con las consecuencias inmediatas y mediatas que ello implica. En pro de dicha meta, el análisis integra elementos textuales (estético-éticos) y contextuales (geográfico-históricos, míticos y religiosos, políticos y filosóficos). Sobre esta base, este estudio prevé un aporte mediador para una mejor comprensión críticorefl exiva de registros específicos en que poder y arte se conjugan unidos.The epigrams contained in the Palatine Anthology make such a vast repertoire of authors, topics, approaches, tones, that it is not surprising to fi nd examples linked to powerful historical characters, located at some period of a long time frame ranging from the seventh century B.C. to Byzantine epoch. Whatever the intention, more or less hidden, to compose them or to request professionals to create them, they become valuable documents relating Literature and History and allow us to access to the always evocative human behavior in quintessential poems which reproach, fl atter or applaud the public fi gure of shift and his relatives. They are past whispers, ready to favor the past – present bond. For example, Crinagoras of Mytilene and Philippus of Thessalonica, epigrammatists of the Augustan age sponsored by the Roman aristocratic and chief circles, dedicated more of their creations to Octavius Caesar Augustus, the fi rst emperor, and portrayed him through political and / or religious attributes. This exploratory analytical research is based on the selection of a corpus of ten poems, the direct translation of the original Greek language, the ranking of the evident matter of the speech and a review of a conditional and patronage literature with the immediate and mediate consequences that this implies. In support of the above mentioned purpose, the research connects textual (aesthetic and ethical) and contextual (geographical, historical, mythical and religious, political and philosophical) elements. Analysis of some textual components of the project for doctoral thesis in Education: title, justification of the problem and recourse to other texts

El proyecto de tesis doctoral es un texto de importancia en tanto garantía de que las decisiones respecto de la fase teórica, la formulación de los objetivos, los métodos propuestos, estén debidamente alineadas con las prácticas de la buena investigación. Sin embargo, no es un género explícitamente bajo examen, escrutinio inexistente en el caso de propuestas de formalidad pedagógica. En este trabajo analizamos, desde encuadres teóricos y procedimientos analíticos probados, 31 proyectos de dos doctorados en Educación de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo y de la Universidad Católica de Cuyo, Argentina, con el objeto de explorar qué clases de títulos aparecen, cómo se justifica el problema y qué modalidades adopta la incorporación de otros textos (citación y referenciación). Se seleccionan estos componentes textuales porque son los que se asocian directamente con la lógica inicial de una investigación, cuya relevancia reside en que es el requisito sine qua non que debe satisfacer un proyecto para ser aprobado. Los resultados muestran que las clases de títulos configuran un conjunto restringido en el que prevalece la construcción nominal que anuncia el tema; la justificación del problema aparece como un área débil, con preeminencia de la basada en su importancia y en el aporte de los hallazgos; prima la función atributiva de la citación, esto es, la cita asociada a un uso enciclopédico de las publicaciones referidas.The PhD project is a text of importance in ensuring that decisions regarding theoretical stage, the goal formulation, proposed methods, are duly aligned with practices of good research. However, it is not a genre explicitly under examination, non-existent scrutiny in the case of proposals of pedagogical formality. In this paper we analyze, from theoretical frames and analytical procedures proven, 31 projects from two doctorates in Education of the National University of Cuyo and of the Catholic University of Cuyo, Argentina, in order to explore what kinds of titles show up, how problem is warranted and which modalities adopts the incorporation of other texts (citation and referencing). These textual components are selected because they are directly associated with the initial logic of an inquiry, whose relevance resides in that it is the requirement sine qua non that must satisfy a project to be approved. The results show that types of titles form a restricted set wherein prevails the nominal construction that announces the subject; the justification of problem appears as a weak area with preeminence of the ones based on its importance and on the contribution of the findings; predominates the attributive function of the citation, i.e., citation associated to an encyclopedic use of the referred publications.Fil: Difabio, Hilda Emilia. Spatial and Temporal Variations of the Suprathermal (3-220 keV/e) Ion Composition in Saturn's Equatorial Magnetosphere

We have studied the composition of the suprathermal ions (3-220 keV/e) in Saturn's magnetosphere using data from the Charge-Energy-Mass Spectrometer (CHEMS) on the Cassini Saturn orbiter from 78 equatorial (Latitude = -10° to 10°) passes during the period 2004-2010. We use this data to determine how the suprathermal ion density and composition vary with time, energy, and distance from Saturn (L-shell). This information is used to study the relative importance of various sources of plasma and neutral particles and how they may vary with time. We also examine the loss and energization processes of the suprathermal ions. In Saturn's main ring current region (L=7-16), we find that the suprathermal ion composition is 63% W+ (O+, OH+, H2O+, H3O+), 30% H+, 5.2% H2+, 0.98% O++, 0.55% He+, and 0.10% He++. The C+/W+ and N+/W+ ratios are 0.0055 and 0.0078, respectively. The high abundance of W+ indicates that the water plumes of Enceladus are the largest source of neutrals that, after ionization, become the plasma in Saturn's magnetosphere. Saturn's atmosphere, thought to be the strongest source of neutral H, and Titan's atmosphere, thought to be the strongest source of neutral H2, are also important. The low abundance of He++ and He+ indicates that the solar wind is a relatively minor source of plasma to Saturn's magnetosphere. The long-term time variations of W+, H+, and H2+ over the period 2004-2010 are quite modest while those of He++ and He+ are much larger. The small variation of the W+ indicates that the strength of the Enceladus plumes is relatively constant on time scales of months or longer over this period. The partial number density of all suprathermal species combined increases inward from the outer reaches of the magnetosphere, peaks between L=8-10, and then decreases inward. These L variations are qualitatively consistent with inward radial diffusion followed by rapid loss processes inside of L=8-10. Changes in composition as a function of L and energy are largely a result of differences in collision lifetimes with Saturn's neutral cloud

Las compilaciones de mitos griegos antiguos presentan multiplicidad de situaciones de indefensión social de la mujer: repudios, abandonos, maltratos, matricidios, muerte a manos de miembros del mismo oikos, raptos, incluso préstamos y "ginecofagia" por parte del esposo, castigos varios como la exclusión del rito o mutilaciones, rechazos múltiples, alumbramientos a escondidas para impedir el infanticidio y la propia muerte, donación de los hijos para salvarles la vida e incluso el filicidio para evitarles males mayores. En esta investigación, se revisan un conjunto de historias míticas griegas que, testigos de patrones similares, reflejan en ropaje mítico el miedo femenino, las condiciones de inferioridad y las formas extremas de supervivencia en un mundo hostil. -Compilations of ancient Greek myths present multiple situations of social defenselessness of women: repudiation, abandonment, ill treatment, matricide, death at the hands of members of the same oikos, kidnapping, including loans and "ginecophagism" by the husband, various punishments like ritual exclusion or mutilations, multiple rejections, hidden births to avoid infanticide and her own death, donation of children to save their lives, including filicide to avoid worse evils.
