Convergenze di un dialogo anacronistico : Aristotele incontra Venezia

This paper aims to highlight the reasons and the circumstances behind the long-lasting loyalty of the Venetian cultural circle towards the philosophy of Aristotle, notoriously widespread in the Veneto and in the Venetian lagoon. Aristotle’s "Politica" appeared to be the most suitable book for answering the questions proposed. Hence the need, in the first part, to trace the origin of the success of the "regimen mixtum" by examining the scripts of Venetian chroniclers, humanists, and political thinkers, in the period between the fourteenth and the early sixteenth century. Instead, the last part is dedicated to a reading of the "Politica" by observing what was the actual historical experience of the Republic of Venice. There are in fact numerous points of contact between the two objects of study, so much so that the metaphysical boundary of the Philosopher’s ideal political proposal notably blends with the historical reality of the Serenissim

    Get PDF
The growth and opportunity that the space industry presents in today’s world is dramatic. Quietly and unassumingly over the last decade, the industry has begun to integrate itself into the mainstream fabric and economies of most nations throughout the world. From contributing much of the infrastructure and backbone necessary for global communications, to providing new resources to help farmers increase their crop yields, to providing new efficiencies and capabilities to a whole host of industries through the commercial application of space technologies, space has become pervasive in our everyday lives. This paper provides a brief history of the industry; its direction and significant trends are reviewed in the context of near and future market opportunities for investors Also, in the last few years, new space businesses have watched the emergence of a recognition and gradual acceptance by traditional financial markets of the attractiveness of investment opportunities in space ventures. Capital markets are cautious, but appear to be adopting new structures to meet the challenges for financing the infrastructure required for the next decade of space businesses. The present state of the space finance community, as well as new approaches to meeting the challenges of the next decade in financing new space ventures are also addressed

Abstract The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore and understand, from the perspective of experienced Special Education Teachers, successful practices and barriers in meeting the needs of students with emotional disturbance (ED) in Special Education Alternative programs. The study aims to gain an in-depth understanding, from the lived experiences of special education teachers, the critical elements required for comprehensive instructional and social-emotional learning (SEL) supports and services in meeting the diverse needs of ED students. Additionally, this research was conducted to gain insight into the barriers and systematic challenges in fulfilling the school\u27s original intention of transitioning students to less restrictive educational settings once they are placed. Phenomenological interviews focused on the research questions revealed an expanded need for district level support, on-going professional development, and comprehensive Special Education Alternative program planning. In this pilot study, explanatory models, coping methods, and help seeking behaviors among individuals with social phobia were explored using in-depth interviews. Participants were ten female college students with probable social phobia. Researchers created a coding manual to investigate the qualitative data by organizing it into categories. Coders were trained to utilize the coding manual, which explored several factors such as name for social anxiety, explanatory models, perceived level of severity, coping methods, and appraisals of coping methods. Contributions of this study are a semi-structured help-seeking interview, coding manual, and rich data. Although the results were inconclusive, this study provides a foundation for future research on help seeking behavior, coping strategies, and explanatory models among individuals with social phobia

Dinamiche istituzionali e prassi normative nella Venezia del tardo medioevo : nota al caso Foscari

    Get PDF
This short essay reconsiders one of the most famous and at the same time dramatic events in the political and institutional history of the Republic of Venice: the Francesco Foscari’s deposition from the dogado in 1457. The episode is now reread and analyzed according to features, limits, and potentialities of the two institutions involved in that moment, the doge and the Council of Ten, without disdaining severely the inability or disability of the head of State as a cause of trouble for the Venetian State. Some deliberations of the Council of Ten, which are here edited in the appendix, have also provided an opportunity to meditate on the peculiar relationship between ‘fact’ and ‘law’ in Venice, by getting ideas from and justifying the failure to update of the promissione ducale following the constitutional exception made by the Ten against the doge Foscari
