    I sogni di Friedrich Huch e la teoria onirica di Ludwig Klages. La nascita del protocollo onirico come genere letterario

    Il presente lavoro di ricerca si inserisce in un clima di crescente interesse scientifico per il complesso rapporto tra sogno e letteratura, testimoniato da una serie cospicua di recenti pubblicazioni ad esso dedicate, che metterebbero in luce non soltanto un rinnovato interesse per questo tema, ma anche il fatto che si \ue8 stabilito un nuovo paradigma di ricerca sull\u2019argomento. Nello specifico, la tesi di dottorato si propone di analizzare le due raccolte di sogni Tr\ue4ume e Neue Tr\ue4ume dell\u2019autore tedesco Friedrich Huch, pubblicate rispettivamente negli anni 1904 e 1917. La prima di queste, in particolare, rappresenta un caso emblematico nello sviluppo del protocollo onirico come genere letterario autonomo, in quanto prima raccolta di sogni pubblicata in lingua tedesca. Si tratta di una testimonianza importante per comprendere l\u2019enorme interesse per il mondo onirico che si svilupp\uf2 nel periodo della Jahrhundertwende e che continua fino ai giorni nostri, con una serie di pubblicazioni di sogni e sui sogni nella letteratura contemporanea e nella critica letteraria attuale. Scopo della tesi non \ue8 tuttavia analizzare questo materiale onirico da una prospettiva psicoanalitica, bens\uec chiarire le circostanze in cui nacque l\u2019idea di questa pubblicazione, sostenuta e incoraggiata dal filosofo tedesco Ludwig Klages, caro amico di Huch e importante esponente del Kosmiker-Kreis di Schwabing. Il lavoro si propone inoltre di mettere in evidenza l\u2019enorme potenziale creativo del sogno come fenomeno estetico, ma anche sottolineare le problematiche che emergono dalla sua registrazione. In sintesi, lo scopo principale del lavoro di tesi \ue8 quello di portare alla luce una tradizione legata alla relazione tra sogno e letteratura nel primo Novecento che sarebbe rimasta celata dietro alla pi\uf9 nota narrazione freudiana dominante. Tale tradizione avrebbe condotto, come questo lavoro si propone di dimostrare, alla nascita del protocollo onirico che, in questo particolare momento storico-culturale, si afferma per la prima volta come genere letterario autonomo

A special effort is required to characterize the thermal properties of the ground and to implement the thermal energy transfer technologies.     Serum IgG antibodies from pregnant women reacting to mimotopes of simian virus 40 large T antigen, the viral oncoprotein

    Simian virus 40 (SV40) large T antigen (LT) coding sequences were revealed in different human samples, whereas SV40 antibodies (Ab) were detected in human sera of cancer patients and healthy individuals, although with a lower prevalence. Previous studies carried out by the neutralization assay gave a SV40 seroprevalence, in the general population, up to 8%, although higher rates, 12%, were detected in kidney transplant children, in a group of HIV-positive patients, and in healthy females. In this study, serum samples from pregnant women, together with those from non-pregnant women, were analyzed to check the prevalence of IgG Ab reacting to SV40 LT antigens. Serum samples were collected from pregnant and non-pregnant women, with the same mean age. Women were in the range of 15-48 years old. Samples were assayed by an indirect ELISA employing specific SV40 LT mimotopes as antigens, whereas functional analysis was performed by neutralization of the viral infectivity in cell cultures. As a control, sera were analyzed for Ab against BK polyomavirus (BKPyV), which is a human polyomavirus homologous to SV40. Statistical analyses employed chi-square with Yates' correction, and Student's t tests. Indirect ELISAs indicated that pregnant women tested SV40 LT-positive with a prevalence of 17% (23/134), whereas non-pregnant women had a prevalence of 20% (36/180) (P > 0.05). Ab against BKPyV were detected with a prevalence of 80% in pregnant women and with a prevalence of 78% in non-pregnant women. These data indicate that SV40 infects at a low prevalence pregnant women. We may speculate that SV40, or a close human polyomavirus still undetected, could be transmitted from mother to fetus

    Delineation of groundwater potential zones by means of ensemble tree supervised classification methods in the Eastern Lake Chad basin

    This paper presents a machine learning method to map groundwater potential in crystalline domains. First, a spatially-distributed set of explanatory variables for groundwater occurrence is compiled into a geographic information system. Twenty machine learning classifiers are subsequently trained on a sample of 488 boreholes and excavated wells for a region of eastern Chad. This process includes collinearity, cross-validation, feature elimination and parameter fitting routines. Random forest and extra trees classifiers outperformed other algorithms (test score > 0.80, balanced score > 0.80, AUC > 0.87). Fracture density, slope, SAR coherence (interferometric correlation), topographic wetness index, basement depth, distance to channels and slope aspect proved the most relevant explanatory variables. Three major conclusions stem from this work: (1) using a large number of supervised classification algorithms is advisable in groundwater potential studies; (2) the choice of performance metrics constrains the relevance of explanatory variables; and (3) seasonal variations from satellite images contribute to successful groundwater potential mapping

    Autonomic function recovery and physical activity levels in post-COVID-19 young adults after immunization: an observational follow-up case-control study

    Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has detrimental multi-system consequences. Symptoms may appear during the acute phase of infection, but the literature on long-term recovery of young adults after mild to moderate infection is lacking. Heart rate variability (HRV) allows for the observation of autonomic nervous system (ANS) modulation post-SARS-CoV-2 infection. Since physical activity (PA) can help improve ANS modulation, investigating factors that can influence HRV outcomes after COVID-19 is essential to advancements in care and intervention strategies. Clinicians may use this research to aid in the development of non-medication interventions. At baseline, 18 control (CT) and 20 post-COVID-19 (PCOV) participants were observed where general anamnesis was performed, followed by HRV and PA assessment. Thus, 10 CT and 7 PCOV subjects returned for follow-up (FU) evaluation 6 weeks after complete immunization (two doses) and assessments were repeated. Over the follow-up period, a decrease in sympathetic (SNS) activity (mean heart rate: p = 0.0024, CI = −24.67–−3.26; SNS index: p = 0.0068, CI = −2.50–−0.32) and increase in parasympathetic (PNS) activity (mean RR:p = 0.0097, CI = 33.72–225.51; PNS index: p = 0.0091, CI = −0.20–1.47) were observed. At follow-up, HRV was not different between groups (p > 0.05). Additionally, no differences were observed in PA between moments and groups.     Role of body mass and physical activity in autonomic function modulation on Post-COVID-19 condition: an observational subanalysis of Fit-COVID study

    The harmful effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can reach the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and endothelial function. Therefore, the detrimental multiorgan effects of COVID-19 could be induced by deregulations in ANS that may persist after the acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. Additionally, investigating the differences in ANS response in overweight/obese, and physically inactive participants who had COVID-19 compared to those who did not have the disease is necessary. The aim of the study was to analyze the autonomic function of young adults after mild-to-moderate infection with SARS-CoV-2 and to assess whether body mass index (BMI) and levels of physical activity modulates autonomic function in participants with and without COVID-19. Patients previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 and healthy controls were recruited for this cross-sectional observational study. A general anamnesis was taken, and BMI and physical activity levels were assessed. The ANS was evaluated through heart rate variability. A total of 57 subjects were evaluated. Sympathetic nervous system activity in the post-COVID-19 group was increased (stress index; p = 0.0273). They also presented lower values of parasympathetic activity (p < 0.05). Overweight/obese subjects in the post-COVID-19 group presented significantly lower parasympathetic activity and reduced global variability compared to non-obese in control group (p < 0.05). Physically inactive subjects in the post-COVID-19 group presented significantly higher sympathetic activity than active subjects in the control group. Parasympathetic activity was significantly increased in physically active subjects in the control group compared to the physically inactive post-COVID-19 group (p < 0.05).     Methodological approach for evaluating the geo-exchange potential: VIGOR Project

    In the framework of VIGOR Project, a national project coordinated by the Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources (CNR-IGG) and sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE), dedicated to the evaluation of geothermal potential in the regions of the Convergence Objective in Italy (Puglia, Calabria, Campania and Sicily), is expected to evaluate the ability of the territory to heat exchange with the ground for air conditioning of buildings. To identify the conditions for the development of low enthalpy geothermal systems collected and organized on a regional scale geological and stratigraphic data useful for the preparation of a specific thematic mapping, able to represent in a synergistic and simplified way the physical parameters (geological, lithostratigraphic, hydrogeological, thermodynamic) that most influence the subsoil behavior for thermal exchange. The litho-stratigraphic and hydrogeological database created for every region led to the production of different cartographic thematic maps, such as the thermal conductivity (lithological and stratigraphical), the surface geothermal flux, the average annual temperature of air, the climate zoning, the areas of hydrogeological restrictions. To obtain a single representation of the geo-exchange potential of the region, the different thematic maps described must be combined together by means of an algorithm, defined on the basis of the SINTACS methodology. The purpose is to weigh the contributions of the involved parameters and to produce a preliminary synthesis map able to identify the territorial use of geothermal heat pump systems, based on the geological characteristics and in agreement with the existing regulatory constraints
