Alignment and algebraically special tensors in Lorentzian geometry
We develop a dimension-independent theory of alignment in Lorentzian
geometry, and apply it to the tensor classification problem for the Weyl and
Ricci tensors. First, we show that the alignment condition is equivalent to the
PND equation. In 4D, this recovers the usual Petrov types. For higher
dimensions, we prove that, in general, a Weyl tensor does not possess aligned
directions. We then go on to describe a number of additional algebraic types
for the various alignment configurations. For the case of second-order
symmetric (Ricci) tensors, we perform the classification by considering the

Periodic mass loss episodes due to an oscillation mode with variable amplitude in the hot supergiant HD50064
We aim to interpret the photometric and spectroscopic variability of the
luminous blue variable supergiant HD\,50064 ().CoRoT space photometry
and follow-up high-resolution spectroscopy, with a time base of 137\,d and
169\,d, respectively, was gathered, analysed and interpreted using standard
time series analysis and light curve modelling methods as well as spectral line
diagnostics.The space photometry reveals one period of 37\,d, which undergoes a
sudden amplitude change with a factor 1.6. The pulsation period is confirmed in
the spectroscopy, which additionally reveals metal line radial velocity values
differing by km\,s depending on the spectral line and on the
epoch. We estimate \teff13\,500\,K, \logg1.5 from the equivalent
width of Si lines. The Balmer lines reveal that the star undergoes episodes of
changing mass loss on a time scale similar to the changes in the photometric
and spectroscopic variability, with an average value of (in M\,yr). We tentatively interpret the 37\,d

Design of an inclusive & interactive educational textile toy
The market for educational toys is scarce in products specifically developed for blind and low sighted children, aiming not only at their motor and cognitive development as well as to the non-stigmatization of these children. Considering the development of educational toys, and based in previous research work [1], we found that textile materials offer an enormous application capability in this regard due not only to their flexibility in use and maintenance of properties, but also because of our familiarity with these materials.The main goal of this project is the study of the emotional response to an interactive educational textile toy by children with visual impairments - blind or partially sighted. How the Kano model contributes to Kansei engineering in services
Recent studies show that products and services hold great appeal if they are attractively designed to elicit emotional feelings from customers. Kansei engineering (KE) has good potential to provide a competitive advantage to those able to read and translate customer affect and emotion in actual product and services. This study introduces an integrative framework of the Kano model and KE, applied to services. The Kano model was used and inserted into KE to exhibit the relationship between service attribute performance and customer emotional response. Essentially, the Kano model categorises service attribute quality into three major groups (must-be [M], one-dimensional [O] and attractive [A]). The findings of a case study that involved 100 tourists who stayed in luxury 4- and 5-star hotels are presented. As a practical matter, this research provides insight on which service attributes deserve more attention with regard to their significant impact on customer emotional needs.
Statement of Relevance: Apart from cognitive evaluation, emotions and hedonism play a big role in service encounters. Through a focus on delighting qualities of service attributes, this research enables service providers and managers to establish the extent to which they prioritise their improvement efforts and to always satisfy their customer emotions beyond expectation.

HisE11 and HisF8 Provide Bis-histidyl Heme Hexa-coordination in the Globin Domain of Geobacter sulfurreducens Globin-coupled Sensor
Among heme-based sensors, recent phylogenomic and sequence analyses have identified 34 globin coupled sensors (GCS), to which an aerotactic or gene-regulating function has been tentatively ascribed. Here, the structural and biochemical characterization of the globin domain of the GCS from Geobacter sulfurreducens (GsGCS162) is reported. A combination of X-ray crystallography (crystal structure at 1.5 Å resolution), UV-vis and resonance Raman spectroscopy reveals the ferric GsGCS162 as an example of bis-histidyl hexa-coordinated GCS. In contrast to the known hexa-coordinated globins, the distal heme-coordination in ferric GsGCS162 is provided by a His residue unexpectedly located at the E11 topological site. Furthermore, UV-vis and resonance Raman spectroscopy indicated that ferrous deoxygenated GsGCS162 is a penta-/hexa-coordinated mixture, and the heme hexa-to-penta-coordination transition does not represent a rate-limiting step for carbonylation kinetics. Lastly, electron paramagnetic resonance indicates that ferrous nitrosylated GsGCS162 is a penta-coordinated species, where the proximal HisF8-Fe bond is severed. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. Towards ensemble asteroseismology of the young open clusters Chi Persei and NGC 6910
As a result of the variability survey in Chi Persei and NGC6910, the number
of Beta Cep stars that are members of these two open clusters is increased to
twenty stars, nine in NGC6910 and eleven in Chi Persei. We compare pulsational
properties, in particular the frequency spectra, of Beta Cep stars in both
clusters and explain the differences in terms of the global parameters of the
clusters. We also indicate that the more complicated pattern of the variability
among B type stars in Chi Persei is very likely caused by higher rotational
velocities of stars in this cluster. We conclude that the sample of pulsating
stars in the two open clusters constitutes a very good starting point for the
ensemble asteroseismology of Beta Cep-type stars and maybe also for other

Clinical and Experimental Applications of NIR-LED Photobiomodulation
This review presents current research on the use of far-red to near-infrared (NIR) light treatment in various in vitro and in vivo models. Low-intensity light therapy, commonly referred to as “photobiomodulation,” uses light in the far-red to near-infrared region of the spectrum (630–1000 nm) and modulates numerous cellular functions. Positive effects of NIR–light-emitting diode (LED) light treatment include acceleration of wound healing, improved recovery from ischemic injury of the heart, and attenuated degeneration of injured optic nerves by improving mitochondrial energy metabolism and production. Various in vitro and in vivo models of mitochondrial dysfunction were treated with a variety of wavelengths of NIR-LED light. These studies were performed to determine the effect of NIR-LED light treatment on physiologic and pathologic processes. NIRLED light treatment stimulates the photoacceptor cytochrome c oxidase, resulting in increased energy metabolism and production. NIR-LED light treatment accelerates wound healing in ischemic rat and murine diabetic wound healing models, attenuates the retinotoxic effects of methanol-derived formic acid in rat models, and attenuates the developmental toxicity of dioxin in chicken embryos. Furthermore, NIR-LED light treatment prevents the development of oral mucositis in pediatric bone marrow transplant patients. The experimental results demonstrate that NIR-LED light treatment stimulates mitochondrial oxidative metabolism in vitro, and accelerates cell and tissue repair in vivo. NIR-LED light represents a novel, noninvasive, therapeutic intervention for the treatment of numerous diseases linked to mitochondrial dysfunction
Seismic modelling of the Cep star HD\,180642 (V1449\,Aql)
We present modelling of the Cep star HD\,180642 based on its
observational properties deduced from CoRoT and ground-based photometry as well
as from time-resolved spectroscopy. We investigate whether present-day
state-of-the-art models are able to explain the full seismic behaviour of this
star, which has extended observational constraints for this type of pulsator.
We constructed a dedicated database of stellar models and their oscillation
modes tuned to fit the dominant radial mode frequency of HD\,180642, by means
of varying the hydrogen content, metallicity, mass, age, and core overshooting
parameter. We compared the seismic properties of these models with those
observed. We find models that are able to explain the numerous observed
oscillation properties of the star, for a narrow range in mass of
11.4--11.8\,M and no or very mild overshooting (with up to 0.05 local
pressure scale heights), except for an excitation problem of the ,
p mode. We deduce a rotation period of about 13\,d, which is fully
compatible with recent magnetic field measurements. The seismic models do not
support the earlier claim of solar-like oscillations in the star. We instead
ascribe the power excess at high frequency to non-linear resonant mode coupling
between the high-amplitude radial fundamental mode and several of the low-order
pressure modes. We report a discrepancy between the seismic and spectroscopic

Fashion showcases design: perceptions of the showcase in the brazilian popular market
The present work aims to present the showcase, its relation with the building, with fashion and with the observer. The importance of this exhibition space extends from the aesthetic and communication functions to be part of a wide textile and clothing chain. This role integrates the whole cycle of creation, textiles, clothing and fashion accessories. For this article we used bibliographical references of design and fashion, as well as methodologies of photographic and ethnographic documentation, with application of focus groups. From the focus groups were identified descriptors related to emotional design. Such descriptors point to the emotions arising from memories, tastes and attitudes.
