Smart Bolometer: Toward Monolithic Bolometer with Smart Functions

    Get PDF
The content of this chapter refers to uncooled resistive bolometers amd the challenge that consists in their integration into monolithic devices exhibiting smart functions. Uncooled resistive bolometers are the essential constitutive element of the majority of existing uncooled infrared imaging systems; they are referred to as microbolometer pixels in that type of application where matrixes of such elementary devices are used. uncooled bolometers represent more than 95% of the market of infrared imaging systems in 2010 (yole 2010) and infrared imaging systems are required for more and more applications

Vacuum Casting to Manufacture a Plastic Biochip for Highly Parallel Cell Transfection

International audienceA novel polymer microarray fabrication technique is presented and applied to the realization of a biochip for highly parallelized cell transfection. The proposed microfabrication technique is derived from a macroscale rapid prototyping technique called vacuum casting. It was optimized to reduce production cost, in order to produce small series (100-10 000 chip series) of chips to meet demand in today's market of cellulomics. Microfabrication technologies and rapid prototyping technologies are combined to shape the master part, which can thus involve microsized features. The corresponding female structure is moulded in a flexible silicone material. The duplicated polymer chips are obtained by casting a thermosetting plastic under vacuum. The dimensional replication accuracy between the master part and the duplicated parts is uniform over the duplicated parts and better than 1%. Advantages of the proposed technique over existing plastic microfabrication techniques are discussed in the paper. Using this microfabrication technique, we produced a plastic biochip for highly parallelized transfection of arrays of living cells. The feasibility of parallel lipofection was demonstrated: two different plasmids encoding, respectively, eGFP and DsRED2 were inserted into HEK293T cells. The transfection was monitored through fluorescence observation after 72 h showing successful expression of both genes

Sampled voltammetry on an electrode array for the renewal of the electrode surface and the analytical solution during the analysis

International audiencePolarography with dropping mercury electrode has been widely used in electroanalysis. However, the method is less and less employed due to the toxicity of mercury. In this work, we have shown that it is possible to replace the dropping electrode by a working electrode array, allowing the renewal of the electrode surface and of the analytical solution during the analysis. This new concept has been demonstrated on copper analysis. Sampled current voltammetry has been carried out on an electrode array, giving rise to I vs. E curves with a limiting diffusion plateau. The principle can be extended to other electroanalytical methods as exemplified here with differential pulse voltammetry. Linear calibration curves have been obtained with both methods and a limit of detection of 2 × 10−5 mol L−1 has been reached for copper detection by differential pulse voltammetry

Heat Balanced Bolometer with Sigma-Delta Interface

International audienceThis paper presents a single-loop 2nd order sigmadelta interface circuit for a bolometer operating in closed-loop mode. Switched capacitor circuitry is developed to implement the sigma-delta structure. The sigma-delta modulator acts both as digital readout circuit and as a mean of heat feedback. The design approach of the sigma-delta structure and the feedback shaping is explained. The circuit is designed for a realization in AMS CMOS 0.35μm technology

    No full text
