Interference and communications among active network applications
This paper focuses on active networks applications and in
particular on the possible interactions among these applications. Active networking is a very promising research field which has been developed recently, and which poses several interesting challenges to network designers.
A number of proposals for e±cient active network architectures are already to be found in the literature. However, how two or more active network applications may interact has not being investigated so far. In this work, we consider a number of applications that have been designed to exploit the main features of active networks and we discuss what are the main benefits that these applications may derive from them. Then, we introduce some forms of interaction including interference and communications among applications, and identify the components of an active network architecture that are needed to support these forms of interaction. We conclude by presenting a brief example of an active network
application exploiting the concept of interaction
Analysis of Position Angle of Arrival in Multipath Fading Channel using Correlated Double Ring Channel Model for VANET Communications
Correlated Double Ring channel modeling in the mobile to mobile communication system (M2M) and vehicular based communication system was pointed out. This modeling required the transmitter and receiver were randomly moving and surrounded by scatterers in a static ring. The scatterers’ positions were placed randomly at the radius of the ring of transmitter and receiver. Received signals were measured based on complex envelope parameters. Two signals propagation scenarios were implemented, they were signals of Rayleigh and Rician distributed. In order to calculate the Rayleigh and Rician complex envelope values, there were some parameters involved which were Angle of Arrival (AoA) and velocity of transmitter and receiver that created Doppler effects. The effects of AoA parameter were investigated towards envelope complex values of Rayleigh and Rician according to predetermined various velocities and scatterers’ positions were divided into four positions criteria. The simulation result shows that for scheme 2 at velocity 40 m/s, distribution magnitude for Rayleigh is 0,1 and Rician is 0,5. It concludes that Rician distribution always outperforms Rayleigh distribution for all predetermined velocities and this scheme give the largest magnitude over all. This is because of the closest distance between scatterers of transmitter and receiver. Also, certain velocities range over all scatterers’ positions, the magnitude of Rayleigh and Rician complex envelope have similar graphic tendency.Correlated Double Ring channel modeling in the mobile to mobile communication system (M2M) and vehicular based communication system was pointed out. A management architecture for active networks
In this paper we present an architecture for network and applications management, which is based on the Active Networks paradigm and shows the advantages of network programmability. The stimulus to develop this architecture arises from an actual need to manage a cluster of active nodes, where it is often required to redeploy network assets and modify nodes connectivity. In our architecture, a remote front-end of the managing entity allows the operator to design new network topologies, to check the status of the nodes and to configure them. Moreover, the proposed framework allows to explore an active network, to monitor the active applications, to query each node and to install programmable traps. In order to take advantage of the Active Networks technology, we introduce active SNMP-like MIBs and agents, which are dynamic and programmable. The programmable management agents make tracing distributed applications a feasible task. We propose a general framework that can inter-operate with any active execution environment. In this framework, both the manager and the monitor front-ends communicate with an active node (the Active Network Access Point) through the XML language. A gateway service performs the translation of the queries from XML to an active packet language and injects the code in the network. We demonstrate the implementation of an active network gateway for PLAN (Packet Language for Active Networks) in a forty active nodes testbed. Finally, we discuss an application of the active management architecture to detect the causes of network failures by tracing network events in time
The production of charcoal is a traditional activity carried out on small rural properties in several cities in the state. The activity has economic and cultural importance because, in addition to being an important source of income for several families, it also represents a traditional heritage, as the transfer of knowledge is intergenerational. However, the increase in demand for charcoal due to urban expansion, associated with the technological deficiency of production methods, has been causing health problems in the surrounding communities. Each beehive furnace generates an average of 600 kg of pyrolysis vapours per day, which are released into the atmosphere. Empirical efforts to reduce negative impacts, such as the combination of burners in ovens, have shown limited results. This paper presents a case study carried out in a charcoal plant in the city of Ivoti, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The objective was to identify the most significant environmental aspects of the activity on the property, propose alternative technologies and structure an action plan to reduce the impacts of charcoal production.

EXPANSÃO AGRÍCOLA E VULNERABILIDADE NATURAL DO MEIO FÍSICO NO SUL GOIANO
